DB Nick Glass commits to UGA over Georgia Tech and Auburn

Nick Glass, one of the state’s top prospects for 2014, committed to UGA on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pound safety from St. Pius said he picked UGA over football scholarship offers from Georgia Tech and Auburn, among his 15 offers.

“It felt like home … why not help out the home school?” Glass told the AJC.

After only signing 19 players last February, UGA is off to a fast start for the next two years. The Bulldogs have nine commitments for 2013, and two for 2014, with RB Stanley Williams of George Walton Academy being the other sophomore sensation.

ESPN’s Dawg Nation’s Kipp Adams: “Nick Glass is an above-average athlete that already possesses great size for safety. While there is a possibility he could grow into a linebacker, Nick is one of those players you have to sign and get … You worry about his position later.”

Glass has the potential to be just as good as Geno Smith, the AJC Super 11 cornerback from St. Pius who signed with Alabama. Glass visited Alabama last week and said the Crimson Tide “was close” to offering.

Just another case of the Dawgs coaching staff beating everyone to the punch on this kid who will be top DB in georgia next year.

Poor comparison to Smith as Glass is 3″ taller and 25 lbs heavier.

Its good to see kids signing up to play for UGA still but I guess with so many good players in the state UGA will get its fair share. Maybe there is hope for the future. GO DAWGS!

LOL..Bama was close to giving him a verbal offer! Run with it Mike…Nick Saban taken to the cleaners by Mark Richtie. Another big fish that Alabama didn’t get. You can’t make this stuff up you know. Bama signed the top safety in the country in 2012 just to get you up to speed.

Mark Richt 5′10″ standing in flat sole shoes

Nick Glass looks 5′8″ in pump tennis shoes

the listing on rivals and other internet sites is no where close to the truth about this kid.

This is way to early to offer a midget at this time, hope to heck he grows alot taller in the next two years. Why did we offer so early, are we really this desperate?

A father, you’ve got to be the worst UGA fan I’ve ever come across. You would be the first one complaining if the kid picked another school.

I was recruited and played for Coach Richt, and can tell you he is about 6′1″.

Thanks for all your posts, I love a good laugh from time to time.

5′7″ or 5′8″ is not great size — even as a rising junior — try again??

A Father, sorry pal, you don’t have a clue about CMR’s stature. I personally stand 5′11″ ,and when I’ve talked to coach Richt, I’ve had to look up to him. I’d say a legitimate estimation of his heighth is 6′2″. But, if you judge the man by his character ,He’s much taller than that. But then again I’m probably stirring the pot for the bammer fans, whose head coach does’nt seem to know that when he signs a kid to play for him @ UA. what that really means. We love our little redneck brothers from that big trailer park west of the Chattahoochee. Go Dawgs!

Wow, A Father on here bashing a kid. Who’d thunk it?

A Person to Smart could be the kid has been a dawg fan his whole life and has always dreamed of playing between the hedges. Some of these kids just knows where they want to play and has known for some time. Still doesn’t mean that he won’t take visits. Thing is though, is that this kid is all Georgia and would be a waste of time for any other school to even try.

Well Wet Willie the jury is still out on how good the so called best safety in the country is that Alabama signed. Even if the kid does turn out to be the best safety of 2012 coming out of high school, so what? Are you saying that Alabama is not looking at any other safety’s coming out of high school for the next couple of years, by the way the kid that commited to Georgia will be the class of 2014. Pretty sure ole Nicky boy was about to offer and probably still will. In case you haven’t heard, Saban ain’t goinna get this kid. Just in case you hadn’t heard.

Mark Richt is 5′10″, maybe nick glass will grow but currently he is very short.

Not bashing any kid, just pointing out the facts. GA has to quit telling themselves lies to feel better. This kid could grow and be outstanding but at his current height and two years remaining, what is the rush?

From Nick’s grandmother, pick on someone your own size, such as myself. He is 6′11/2″ at 200 pounds. I am 5′7″ and 177 and will take you on any day. You must not understand that we are here to build up not tear down. Go after your own kids and get a life, we are just allowing him to have one, sucker

2014? Good grief. Why not get some commitments from some kindergartners while you are at it. What a waste of time.

A Father

April 4th, 2012

Make me laugh, if nick is that tall in the picture with pumps and Richt is in flat soles, that means richt is at least what, lets say 6′4. Give it a break guys side by side in the picture and you can see it for yourself. Grannie, I wish your grandson all the best in the world, obviously he is a talent, but that has nothing to do with what I have posted. He looks very short by Mark Richt who is very short, just a fact.

mike

April 4th, 2012
10:37 pm

Father, where are you getting your info from, its pretty obvious you have never stood next to Richt or you would know he is well over 6 feet tall, closer to 6′2″. The reason I know that is I have met him several times and am 6′1 myself and he is slightly taller than me. You do realize who the smallest coach in the SEC is don’t you, even if Glass is 5′7 he would tower over Saban who is between 5′5-5′7, doesn’t mean he can’t coach, just means he is borderline dwarf.
