Brendan Langley: UGA and Alabama are co-leaders for Georgia DB but …

DB Brendan Langley (KellFootball.com)

DB Brendan Langley (KellFootball.com)

Brendan Langley confirmed the reports that Alabama and UGA are his co-leaders at defensive back but …

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound cornerback from Kell High School, also wanted to disclose something else about his co-leaders:

“They’re also the only two schools I’ve visited so far,” said Langley, who attended UGA’s V.I.D. or “Very Important Dawg” junior day on Saturday.

“They’re definitely my two favorite schools. But I also want to go down to Florida. I’m planning on visiting Tennessee this weekend, and I also want to see South Carolina. Once I’ve seen all those schools, then I feel like I will have seen enough to make a good decision.”

UGA scored a lot of points with Langley by being the first school to offer, and Mark Richt also caught his attention with something he stressed at V.I.D.

“Coach Richt and the other Georgia coaches have told me on numerous occasions that ‘We see you as a Brandon Boykin-type player who can play both sides of the ball here,’” Langley said. “Georgia is pretty much the only school that has talked to me about playing some both ways, which I really like. Georgia likes me as a DB and WR, and maybe even playing some running back.”

What about Georgia Tech? “They were going to offer but I wasn’t really interested. I mean, it’s a good school but there’s no point in wasting their time. I’m staying in the SEC. The best players and the best competition are in the SEC. I love to compete because that’s the only way to get better. The SEC will be the best place for me.”

Langley, Sandy Creek’s Shaq Wiggins (committed to UGA) and Flowery Branch’s Darius Curry (undecided) are the top candidates to be the state’s No. 1 overall prospect at cornerback.

Why is Paul Johnson not catching any flack? It’s always Richt. Langley didn’t beat around the bush about it. Don’t offer because I am not interested. Heck Kell is closer to Tech’s campus than UGA’s.

I’m sure Tech will get Devine and Hall. Heard that UGA has cooled on Devine as he showed up at UGA over 365 pounds and looked out of shape.

Good start for UGA with Langley but a long way to go. This one may go all the way to signing day. UGA may take two more CBs in this class. The Jr. college CB committed to UGA is highly rated (4 stars) and a 94 rating by ESPN. He is 6′ tall and was timed at 4.4 40. Any thing over a 90 is considered starting material. There are only about 2 or 3 players on the high school level with a higher rating. Langley has a rating of 90 right now. Wiggins is a 93.

BL, the best DB Coach in America awaits you at Alabama. If you have the mindset and talent the NFL is in front of you. Just count the Bama and LSWho dbs in the league. Results speak for themselves….

And like that doesn’t happen all the time. A kid gets to make out with a new girl and now she is one of the best he ever kissed. Well the next girl he makes out with moves up the list too.
Moving up the list will matter in December-February. Making the TOP NOW doesn’t matter all that much. It is EARLY in the LOVE Making Process.

Another I want to play in the SEC because it is the best. I want to go to the NFL kid. HEY kid the ACC sends the second most players to the NFL. You can get a better education when you DON”T make it to or last more than a Cup of Coffee in the NFL.

These colleges need to do a follow up on what SEC players are doing 5 years after they are not playing in college. How many have degrees? What jobs are they working?

THIS COULD WOULD ALSO BE “A SUPERSTAR” UNDER NICK SABAN. SABAN IS A CHAMPIONSHIP COACH THAT DELIVERS ” WHILE UGA JUST DREAMS ABOUT IT”. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SABAN NOW HAS THREE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FROM TWO DIFFERENT COLLEGES! NICK IS REVERED AS MUCH AS “THE BEAR” AND THE BAMA PLAYERS LOVE HIM AS A COACH. HE WOULD FIT IN VERY WELL AT ALABAMA!

harold – any chance we could get you to switch your handle to HAROLD and then leave the Cap Lock key off the rest of the time? Also, why the hate for Coach Richt? Feel free to continue the Saban worship, but why do you have to come across as a complete moron by criticizing everything about UGA? Do you need that to feel good about yourself? Alabama claims every possible hint of a National Championship in their history as a way to boost their self-esteem. Why don’t you just stick to that and quit clogging up our blogs with your idiotic ALL CAPS posts?

One problem signing with Bama. Saban will more than likely not be there in two or three years. The 25 limit and 4 year deals are severely going to hurt the way Saban runs his program. Add the fact that Slive still wants to raise the GPA to 2.5 and wants the negative image of oversigning to go away with some additional rule changes and Saban’s days are numbered. No NFL team wants him because he has proven how good of a coach he is with equal talent levels and level playing fields.

Blackoutanyone?

We all know both programs can get you to the next level. It really boils down to one simple question. Do you want to win championships while your in college? If the answer is yes… then his decision is already made.

ATL Sports Fan,
Did not here about the 365 and out of shape looking thing with Devine and hope it’s not true. I did hear that he likes GT, Bama, and UGA (in that order) and he wants to major in Computer Engineering, which UGA and Bama don’t offer so that looks good for GT. Also does not hurt that Hall likes GT and has an offer and they might be a package deal. Not going to go overboard on recruits with 11 months left and a season still to go.

SMART, Richt better spend a good deal of his prayer time at night, asking that Grantham doesn’t get that HC job offer.

Grantham saved Mark Richt’s job last season – even playing mediocre teams during the “streak,” the D is what won vs Ole Miss, MSU, UT, Vandy, UF, and UK. The D locked up the win vs Michigan St in overtime, but our fearless (ha) leader didn’t try to run the offense to, at the very least, get a closer FG, thus losing.

Without Grantham, our record last season would have been, at best, 8-5.

Harold, UT doesn’t play in front of 107k anymore, they enlarged the allowed seating area per ticket from 12 inches to 15 inches because the place was the absolute worst venue in college football. Realistically for the space 70k would be a good number. Amazing why they made the size of the seats so small in a state where the average behind is 24 inches wide.

It’s his prerogative to attend school wherever he wants, provided he understands…

A) the odds are slim of making to the NFL to begin with, so making a football-based decision on where you plan to attend college is risky at best, and…

B) the rate of making to the NFL is not that much higher in the SEC than it is from the other AQ conferences…if you’re an athlete they’ll find you

“Do you want to win championships while your in college?”
***********************************************
That’s obvious, Blackout, but I really wonder if that’s a big part of a NFL-bound player. I know from watching one of the best players of our generation, first in my little hometown, then at UGA and now after about 12 years in the NFL, up close and personal, I know he was always about “ME!”

If all players wanted titles at college, they would all go to Saban and Myer these days. Richt, despite underachieving in his last few seasons, gets great recruiting classes every 4 of 5 years.

Ya know?

Recruiting is about 80% team brand, and 20% actual recruiting by coaches. If UGA didn’t win a game for the next 3 years and fired Richt they would still have a top recruiting class.

Surprise Surprise…… Saban does not get all of his big time recruits to the NFL and some never make it on the college level. Tyler Love who was the #1 OT in the country in his class year announced today that he will not be back for his final year at Bummer. Why? He never started in a game and never played. He is just ONE of Saban’s 5 star failures. On another subject Saban announced that Ronald Carswell and Michael Bowman remain suspended from the team for violation of team rules towards the end of last season. He refused to discuss the violations. Michael Bowman is from Georgia. Whoops – I thought Saban’s players were highly disciplined and he had complete control over them at all times.
