Brendan Langley confirmed the reports that Alabama and UGA are his co-leaders at defensive back but …
The 6-foot-1, 187-pound cornerback from Kell High School, also wanted to disclose something else about his co-leaders:
“They’re also the only two schools I’ve visited so far,” said Langley, who attended UGA’s V.I.D. or “Very Important Dawg” junior day on Saturday.
“They’re definitely my two favorite schools. But I also want to go down to Florida. I’m planning on visiting Tennessee this weekend, and I also want to see South Carolina. Once I’ve seen all those schools, then I feel like I will have seen enough to make a good decision.”
UGA scored a lot of points with Langley by being the first school to offer, and Mark Richt also caught his attention with something he stressed at V.I.D.
“Coach Richt and the other Georgia coaches have told me on numerous occasions that ‘We see you as a Brandon Boykin-type player who can play both sides of the ball here,’” Langley said. “Georgia is pretty much the only school that has talked to me about playing some both ways, which I really like. Georgia likes me as a DB and WR, and maybe even playing some running back.”
What about Georgia Tech? “They were going to offer but I wasn’t really interested. I mean, it’s a good school but there’s no point in wasting their time. I’m staying in the SEC. The best players and the best competition are in the SEC. I love to compete because that’s the only way to get better. The SEC will be the best place for me.”
Langley, Sandy Creek’s Shaq Wiggins (committed to UGA) and Flowery Branch’s Darius Curry (undecided) are the top candidates to be the state’s No. 1 overall prospect at cornerback.
