Keyante Greene: After trying to commit to UGA, RB pledges to UCLA

RB Keyante Green, who tried to commit to UGA a couple of weeks ago, has pledged to UCLA.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound junior running back from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy, picked UCLA over UGA, Georgia Tech and South Carolina. Green said that Jim Mora, the ex-Atlanta Falcons coach who is now in charge at UCLA, was a deciding factor in committing to the Bruins.

“I believe in Coach Mora,” Green told the AJC. “Coach Mora is a really good guy with a lot of NFL experience. I remember when he was coach of the Falcons and winning playoff games. I want to play for a guy like him. I haven’t visited UCLA yet but I could see myself playing for him. He told me he wanted me to be a Bruin.”

Green was offered by UCLA during a long conversation with Mora on Sunday. The Bruins signed two seniors from the Atlanta area earlier this month, and now have junior commitments from one of the state’s top quarterbacks (Lassiter’s Eddie Printz) and running backs (Green). Printz and Green know each other from December’s RisingSeniors.com game, and Printz recommended that UCLA’s coaches study Green’s film.

“Coach Mora is a guy I trust,” Green said. “He went through his whole UCLA plan with me over the phone, how everything is going to be there. He told me he was looking for a few Georgia guys that were willing to work, and he wanted to me. I committed on Sunday, and then went ahead and made it public [Wednesday].”

What about UGA? Green said he was offered by the Bulldogs two years ago as a freshman and called a couple of weeks ago to commit to UGA. “They told my coach that they couldn’t honor my commitment because they had Derrick Henry out of Yulee, Fla., and that they could sign only one running back for the 2013 class. They said they could only sign one because they weren’t expecting to get two out of North Carolina for 2012 (Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley). They are only going to sign one for 2013, so they weren’t able to take me.”

How did Green feel about UGA’s response when he tried to commit? “I mean, it’s not their fault. They already had two guys signed and another junior committed with Derrick Henry. I guess it wasn’t meant to be. It’s no big deal.”

What about Georgia Tech? “It was too close to the house. I could’ve seen myself playing there. Everything was great about Georgia Tech with the coaches, the football program and the academics. It was just too close to the house.”

This past season, Green rushed for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns while leading ECLA to the Class A semifinals. Green, who missed five games with an injury, also played defense and finished with 104 tackles, including 21 for losses and 6 sacks.

Note: Derrick Henry is expected to enroll early, and may be counted backwards toward UGA’s 2012 class, leaving open the possibility of signing Alvin Kamara or another RB target  for 2013. We’ll have to see how this all unfolds.

BIG NEWS FOR UGA: Reuben Foster, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect and is committed to Alabama, told the AJC that he plans to attend UGA’s Junior Day on Saturday. Foster is also involved in a controversy after his coach’s firing.

How many National titles has Georgia won since Richt took over? ZERO

When did Georgia last when a NC title? 1980 (32 YEARS AGO)

If not for Herschel Walker (sorry Buck Belue the 64 yds passing in title game weak) Georgia would be looking at 0-Never.

When you see these FACTS you can understand why Georgia fans are so DELUSIONAL.

These clowns think they have a title contender if they finish the previous season with 4 straight wins over weak opponents (They conveniently forget loss in bowl game vs a good opponent).

YES – Georgia fans we know you claim a title in the 1940’s. Chuckle. Nobody except an obscure script service counts this title.

Then stop trying to play big boy footbal and join Conference-USA
——————————————
There are some competitive teams in Conference USA, too. UCF is a good example
—————————————————————————————————————-
I stand corrected. If a Conference-USA team could beat Georgia’s worst team in 10 years and Tech couldnt maybe you would be better off in the Sun Belt conference with Georgia State.I love it when Tech fans hide behind teams that beat Georgia.

Rick James…Does Georgia play big boy football or not? When did Georgia State join the Sun Belt Conference? I thought they were in the Colonial Athletic Association. How am I hiding behind a team that beat Georgia? You implied that Conference USA was not big boy football, yet a Conference USA team beat your Bulldogs. Does Georgia play big boy football some years but not others?

Wow … Dawg fans show they will make any excuse for Richt as long as they think it helps them crawl out of mediocrity . It is obvious they already KNOW the two faced hypocrite WILL sign another RB … JUST LIKE BAMAGUY WROTE .

As soon as he wrote he could see it coming from a mile away … and what their laundry list of excuses would be … they jumped in trying to say ” Henry might count for 2012 so he wouldn’t be a 2013 signee” .

Of course on the Tyren Jones thread from two days ago they are STILL busy typing excuses like ” Derrick Henry is THE ONLY RB for 2013″

Fairly obvious … Jawja WILL sign another RB … this kid was shoved out the door to make room for one they think they can get that is better … the Jawjackers WILL make every excuse of how “this is different” when it happens LOL

Campus in Bel Air, CA or Athens, GA … check goes to UCLA

Home games in The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA or Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA … check goes to UCLA

Degree from either, though I think UCLA might be a little better, but UGA isn’t bad either … =

Chances at the NFL …. if you’re good enough, it doesn’t matter where you play. The NFL will find you.

Georgia State announced this week that they are joining the Sun Belt(Google it or search AJC)I implied that Tech does not play big boy football and should join Conference-USA.C-USA is not big boy football just because UCF beat Georgia’s worse team in 10 years in bowl that game that they did not want to play.Ten out of the last 11 years the Georgia has played Tech they’ve played big boy football. How’s that? Speak to me about Tech’s record against Georgia I’ll stop accusing you of hiding behind other teams..

@ Sly dawg:

Greene was quoted as saying he was offered by UGA “as a freshman”. He is now a junior so that means he had the offer over 2 years.

Regardless, he never committed or gave UGA any reason to believe he wanted to be a dawg. The fact is he waited too long.

Nothing I have seen indicates he is upset with UGA so apparently most everybody except Grayshirt U fans and/or trolls understand.

They will never admit it in the future after all this has played out and CMR CAN legitably speak about this situation(He is not allowed to discuss this situation according to NCAA rules) so I am saving these posts to replay in the future. We will see tons of new “handles” on here because they will not want to acknowledge they were a part of one of the lowest inbred attacks on CMR. There is no lower life form than those who are calling CMR a liar and other crap that deep down inside they really know they are wrong.

Just another smoke screen to get the topic away from that DWTD Dwarf Grayshirt Saban

@buddy el: if you have not seen anything that says Keyante is not happy with the pulling of his offer you ought to read some of his articles on Rivals as they suggest otherwise. He was offered as a freshman in case you do not believe it. How do you know he did not give the coaches any indication he was not interested? Do you know how many visits and games he has been to since then? I do because I know Keyante. I would think he did not commit earlier cause he thought he had an offer. Maybe he did not think it would get pulled later as it did. I suppose it was not a committable offer. As for your reference to Saban, he has won 2 of the past 3 NC’s. Just another DAWG fan who is jealous of the success of another program. Keep looking in the mirror and repeating your flawed logic and you will convince yourself that you are right.

He was offered as a freshman? Don’t know about that. I guess while he was thinking it over the last three years UGA changed their mind. UGA still has one opening at RB and they have 4 offers out. This is a totally different situation than Saban had with Taylor. Bummer offered & Taylor accepted – Bummer listed him as a commit and told him he had a spot on their team. Taylor did not visit anywhere else. Kenyate was still making visits after UGA offered him and he had not accepted UGA’s offer. If UGA had accepted his commitment that would have been different. Saban accepted Taylor’s commitment.

UGA currently has offers out to about 14 OL….. they want to sign 5. Kenyante had an offer at RB. If he had accepted at the time the offer was made and UGA had accepted his commitment he would be with UGA. There can be several reasons why UGA did not accept his commitment and I will not speculate. Saban offered and accepted Taylor’s commitment and was listed as a commit by Bummer. If an OL commits to UGA this weekend and UGA accepts, Richt will not drop him later unless he violates UGA policy (Academics, legal problems, etc)…. injury is not on the list of reasons to drop a commit.
