Alabama’s Nick Saban mails 105 recruiting letters in ONE DAY to Atlanta RB

Alabama’s Nick Saban is considered by some to be the “hardest working man” in the recruiting biz.

The postmaster of Tuscaloosa, Ala., might be next after Nick.

Alabama made national headlines when it mailed 105 recruiting letters in a day to a running back from Atlanta this week, Norcross High School junior Alvin Kamara.

Usually, Saban puts stamps on only about 4-6 letters per day to Kamara.

“Yeah, I got home and they were failing out of my mailbox,” Kamara said. “It was crazy but I liked it.”

It was yet another creative and innovative recruiting tactic by Saban, who finished with the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2012 earlier this month.

What’s really amazing about Alabama’s 105-letter bombardment to Kamara is that – while he has yet to finish opening them all up – none of dozens he has already ripped into are duplicates. Each letter has a new message or selling point about Alabama’s football dynasty.

“It’s cool when a school shows that much interest in you,” Kamara said. “It definitely caught my attention. But they’re not my favorite college yet or anything like that. I just thought it was cool they’re showing me that much attention.”

One last note: Many UGA fans have pointed out that in the photo taken of Kamara holding his bouquet of 105 Alabama letters, he just so happened to be wearing shorts with a UGA logo.

“It was a coincidence and nothing more than that,” Kamara said with a laugh. “Everybody has been blowing it up about that, saying ‘Oh, that could be a sign he’s going to Georgia.’ It was nothing like that. I just happened to have those shorts on at that time. I don’t even have a Top 5 list of schools yet.”

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Kamara has around a dozen early offers, including UGA, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Maryland. Kamara was virtually unknown until proving himself to be one of the top players in a junior all-star game in December. Kamara was considered “the fastest player in pads” at the game, with one scout saying “0 to 60 mph in a few steps.”

“I knew where I wanted to go,” Foster told ESPN’s Greg Ostendorf. “My family knew where I wanted to go. They love Alabama. I love Alabama. Plus, who wouldn’t want to get coached by Nick Saban and Kirby Smart? They’re NFL-style coaches.”

Hey Carv…..why don’t you report the facts and not biased UGA leaning articles?

The fact that you are being made fun of by professional recruiting experts should turn your logic to more neutral articles!

3. All I need to know is….LSU 9, Bama 6 in Bama’s own stadium….and LSU….not Bama….is the Champion of the SEC. And I think only champions should play for championships….and I think a lot of college football fans feel that way.

This is the loser mentality of a guy who has seen his program become a shell of it’s glory days!

Spurrier left them, Meyers took spankings from Saban, MIles, Spurrier and his former OC at MSU!

Florida has a young coach with a dysfunctional program and the wrong type players to be competitive in the SEC as of today thanks to Urban.

Tampa Gator stop making excuses for your wn team and get with the new program that does not follow lock step with Delaney and the Big 10 whiners like you have become.

When your program was winning yu talked trash, now you are losing you make liberal, Medicare, poor person excuses for a failing program with multiple arrest and issues since Urban’s last full year and Muschamps present day program!

By the way nice pickup with Taylor’s son!

Whatever!!!!

This is justs Sabans way of trying to sneaky and steal players from GA. But we know he wearing Dawg shorts and hearing more than 105 times a day that Dawgs is best and where NFL talent plays. Then once he come to Dawgs we make him into another Herschel or Moreno. That because Dawgs show best talents in Athens that counts for draft. And we show how freshmen like Herschel can win championsihps. But he has to know how Dawgs run East and own getting to Dome. Dawgs have reloaded and will start season in Top 10 with Dream Team I and II. He needs sign with Dawgs to prove he real man and not one of Sabans chumps.

I’m sure I listed this site for one of my favs, as I would think responsible journaliists could be found at AJC. Nothing but negative press for CNS/ Can only be construed as biased reporting from a UGA paper. Disappointed to the point of removing AJC as a viable unbiased collegiate athletic site.

Blackout since , zero wins for 3 years , no bowl bans , no vacated wins. no Ncaa probations,if no chrystal football come with that its ok, more, over the same period more wins more sec titles , If history is any indicator where there is bama success on the grid iron , Ncaa problems aren’t far behind.
congrats it been a good run. The SEC is better when bama is resurgent and not wallowing in the depths of all the vacated wins and such .

AJC where are you.

Every year Saban signs 8 to 10 players over the 85 limit. Ajc should do a story on the players that get cut off the team each year by Saban .Why don’t you do a story on this and blow up the con game that has become Alabama football. While your at it check the VIN #’s on the cars of the bama players. Ask how can a true freshman who comes from a poor family drive a Lexus. You have my e mail and I have some info that will put your name on every sports page in America.Help clean up this mess.

Spanking, your reply does not make a whole lot of sense. Are you saying that you are a retard?

Yes I have been involved with intercollegiate athletics and was just stated the facts of what the NCAA is bringing next year. Sure that may be hard for you to comprehend, but that is what is happening.

And yes most of the NCAA rules are the result of one sleazeball that tries to bend every rule just resulting in more oppressive rules from NCAA.

I wouldn’t let it worry you . Seems the incessant AJC Bama bashing is backfiring in some quarters . Actually .. what you call a “carefully selected” quote IS the context . Filling in the void of information is endless with some people . In your case … you SHOULD know better … you have written things in the past indicating you might .

I am simply looking at what you wrote .When you attempt to defend a vacuous truth you either DON’T know any better (see above) … or you are just trying to be deliberately obtuse because it suits an agenda .

I really don’t worry about recruiting with Saban and staff. To be honest Alabama doesn’t have to recruit 4 and 5 stars because the player’s are going to be coached up and learn how to play “TEAM” football. No missing man formations at Alabama for a recruit, or changing uniforms to get an edge. Just line up in the Crimson Red and white and start the motor.

Kind of like this depth
Crowell 5 star
Richard Samuel 5 star
Marshall 5 star
Gurley 4 star
Malcome 4 star
Isn’t Hart coming off knee surgery and Calloway has had some problems getting arrested and of course the ever recurring theme around bama recruiting is.

That’s actually not a bad depth chart if you wanna back into Atlanta, get curb stomped by the western division champion and then embarrass the SEC by losing to a basketball school. Though most UGA fans are quite happy with those results as CMR is about to get a nice extension any day now. Lol

Saban doesnt know how to play hard to get.

I love how people say saban is the master recruiter, hell hes at a top tier school and casts a wide net to scoop up every little fish, that puts him at a tremendous advantage of people using a single fishing pole. I will bet that when the NCAA puts a stop to him basically offering everyone even though he knows there will not be room for them is about the same time he will be accepting a head coaching job in the NFL again.
