Will Sandy Creek High School offensive lineman Will Adams flip his commitment from Georgia Tech to Auburn?

Information was limited coming out of Will’s camp on early Sunday evening. He was huddled with family members in deep discussion after returning from an official visit to Auburn.

Both Auburn and UGA made last-minute offers on Thursday to Adams, who opted to visit with the Tigers this weekend. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive lineman has been committed to Georgia Tech since last summer.

“There’s nothing right now,” Adams told the AJC. “We’re still talking about it. I’m still committed to Georgia Tech, we’re back from Auburn and we’re talking things over.”

Adams had a surprise guest tagging along with him on the visit to Auburn. It was his high school teammate, WR JaQuay Williams, who is the state’s No. 1 prospect at WR and is torn between sticking with Auburn or flipping to UGA. (Click on story link)

Back to Adams: He told the AJC on Saturday that he was aware of the reports that Georgia Tech co-offensive line coach Todd Spencer is not expected back with the team. “”I heard something like that may happen, and that’s one of the main reasons I decided to visit Auburn.”

Check back for updates

[7:36 p.m. Sunday] Will Adams texted the AJC to say report that he’s committed to Auburn is false and that he’s “undecided.”

[9:00 a.m. Monday] Will Adams’ name is no longer listed by Georgia Tech’s Rivals’ website as a commitment to the Yellow Jackets. We’ve requested a comment from JacketsOnline.

[9:23 a.m. Monday] Comment from Kelly Quinlan, publisher of JacketsOnline.com, which is Georgia Tech’s Rivals website: “This is the official word from Rivals. In our eyes, Will is not committed to either school.  He said he will decide between two two schools on National Signing Day. Therefore, was removed from the commitment list.”

[10:44 a.m. Monday] Will Adams confirmed to the AJC that will make his final decision at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday at Sandy Creek. “It’s down to Georgia Tech and Auburn.”

Hey Will…how would you feel if GT decided last minute to offer and accept another recruite, thus leaving you high and dry with no alternatives? Tech has been with you from day 1…AU had to replace their offensive and defensive coordinator. What is there really to think about?

Why do you say that. Its not like the ones we lost were highly rated. Plus why is it UGA is going after GT guys so late in the game? IS it because UGA struck out on a few of their guys?

It doesn’t matter does it? Unless cpj is totally lacking in any credibility at all he has to withdraw the scholarship right? I mean he said he would so he will stand by his word becuase….LOL LOL LOL LOL Sorry I couldn’t finish that. The idea of coach fish fry having even a shred of integrity is just too hilarious.

What’s the over/under on tech keeping 15 commits by signing day? Take under and bet the bank or if you are a tech fan bet the cesspool.

I think Will Adams will be a solid starter at GT for 3-4 years. I really hope he decides to stay at GT. We need and really want him!!

I wonder if Auburn & UGA both offerred Will Adams a scholarship because of the #1 WR recruit in Georgia (JaQuay Williams)………UGA has a track record of offering scholarships to friends and/or brothers to land big name recruits (the friends and brothers rarely see the football field). If Auburn knew or even predicted UGA would use this tactic; they might have offered a Scholarship to Will Adams as a counter attack. The obvious question is: Does Auburn plan to give Will Adams a serious shot at playing time OR are they just using him and plan to use him on the scout team.

One undeniable fact: GT wants Will Adams to actually play OL on Saturdays!

Is anyone else hearing that debacle from last week with that kid cpj lied to and then withdrew his scholly at the last minute is resulting in violations? Several people have said that is why the trade school had to fire their ol coach today. Hmmmm what happens when a school on probabtion commits more violations ? Wow what a horrible week for the trade school and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

“UGA has a track record of offering scholarships to friends and/or brothers to land big name recruits (the friends and brothers rarely see the football field).”

Zander Ogletree has gotten playing time at fullback and special teams for the two years he’s been on the roster.

Theus’ brother redshirted this season but will be the long snapper if not this season then the next three.

“Cootie Harrell, IC’s buddy, played on special teams as a true freshman, and made some big plays.

Lonnie Outlaw, Mashall’s cousin, failed to make the grades to get in.

Coach PJ has been VERY consistent………anyone who claims differently is either uninformed, completely biased or they are simply trying to negatively affect GT recruiting efforts.

Coach Paul Johnson has publically stated that if these players take official visits then GT will look at the available players and offer scholarships to other players who play at the position of the player who is holding a GT scholarship. These players do not automatically lose the GT scholarship when they take an official visit; however, they are taking a seriopus risk that another player might accept the GT offer while they are trying to “land a better gig” as they say.

Coach PJ is a high character coach and I simply love the fact that he tells it just like he sees it!

GT Grad I’m not a rocket scientist, but one would believe that every player on a team would be given the same chance to win a position as anyone else. It would be stupid to not give every kid the same opptitunity to win a starting job, Heck who knows? Mr Adams may turn out to be an All-American. Hopes he sticks with Tech. Wouldn’t mind him coming to Georgia. The dawgs need linemen more so than WR’s. Georgia is offering because I believe that they may not get as many lineman as they had hoped to.

Yes, Will has told GA Tech’s coach’s “he” has “decided” to switch his commitment to Auburn. The issue is whether Auburn will still want him on signing day. Will already knew Paul Johnson’s plans when he left for Auburn.

I am wondering what is going on for the last remaining spots. Beau Hankins really liked his visit, but who knows who he will commit to. the bigger question for me is Bret Niederreither, I figured for sure he would get an offer this weekend and yet nothing then he commited to Temple today. I have to assume that if he did not get an offer the coaching staff have to have a feeling about somebody else. I would also assume that if all these sanctions rumors were true regarding Junior and Coach Spencer then the AJC or any number of recruiting sites would have reported on it by now.

I guess Johnson is selective in who he lets visit other schools after they give their pledge to Tech based on how bad his recruiting class is. Better make sure those last minute offers have a 1200 sat, what a joke.

I’m a big dawg fan and always will be. But I hope the young man honors his verbal to Tech. I have no ill will toward Tech except one Saturday ever year. I can’t stand Bama, Alburn nor the leather necks south of the border. So if it’s keeping talent in state so be it. I’m tired of all the Bama schools stealing our talent and I hold Richt responsible If we could keep our talent in state it would be amazing what we could acomplish. GO DAWGS!

Everyone doesn’t get a chance to play for their dream school. I know UGA was late to offer but they did and if I was this kid, I would take it over GT or Auburn. All of these kids dream of playing in the NFL one day. Don’t think GT’s offense really helps OL reach that goal. Auburn is switching both coordinators. UGA is stable and play a pro-style offense. To me, it’s an easy decision. Play for your dream school in a pro-style offense.

But that’s just my opinion. Either way, congratulations to the young man for his opportunity to play college football at the D-1 level and get a great education in the process.

So the kid told tech he wasn’t going to auburn and went anyway. He commits to auburn but keeps tech on the hook cause he wants to do the hat thing on NSD. I hate to say it but…. IN THIS CASE If I were johnson, I would pull his ship and not give him the satisfaction.

Don’t think GT’s offense really helps OL reach that goal.

True, but going to Auburn hurts the goal of having a successful life in the 98% chance that he doesn’t make the NFL. If you are a last minute hail mary offer from a team, your chance at playing for the team and making the NFL is even lower then 2%.
