Dalvin Tomlinson has made the decision — Is it Georgia Tech, Alabama or UGA?

Dalvin Tomlinson finally made his college decision on Friday, according to his coach.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman from Henry County High School has Georgia Tech, UGA and Alabama at his finalists.

So which school is it?

“Dalvin has picked a school but it’s a secret,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier told the AJC. “His [family] doesn’t even know where he’s going to go, and that’s a fact. I was over at his house this morning with a [TV crew].”

“But Dalvin has his school. You can tell by looking at him. He has got a big smile back on his face. And he hasn’t been smiling a lot lately. He seems a lot more relaxed and happy.”

When will Dalvin reveal his secret? At 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Georgia Tech appears to be the school to beat in the final days. On Thursday, Yellow Jackets assistant Joe Speed stopped by Henry County to check on Tomlinson. Last weekend, Georgia Tech recruiting coordinator Andy McCollum observed Dalvin’s wrestling match.

“Georgia Tech wants him really, really bad,” Rozier said. “He’s very important to them.”

What about UGA? Tomlinson cancelled an official visit with the Bulldogs last week because of “family reasons” and wrestling obligations. However, his coach said Dalvin didn’t need to visit UGA to sign with the Bulldogs because he has been there 10-12 times since his sophomore year for camps, games and other events.

What about Alabama? Rozier, personally, has not had any recent contact with the Crimson Tide but that’s not to say that Tomlinson – who is laying low – hasn’t been communicating on a regular basis with Alabama’s coaches. There’s a popular conspiracy theory that Tomlinson is seriously considering signing with Alabama if it’s clear that a scholarship spot is available before Wednesday.

What about the possibility of Dalvin making a last-minute visit somewhere this weekend? After all, Tomlinson’s teammate, QB-DB Chris Moody, is committed to Vanderbilt but abruptly decided to take a last-second trip to South Carolina on Friday. (Click here to read more)

“No, that won’t happen with Dalvin,” Rozier said. “After getting this college decision out of the way, the biggest thing on Dalvin’s mind is wrestling. He has got a match on Saturday. He’ll be there. His goal is to be a three-time state champion. Nobody in the state of Georgia has ever done that in the heavyweight position. That’s his complete focus now.”

Tomlinson has a 3.9 GPA, and accomplished the rare feat of being offered by Florida, UGA and Harvard in the same day last spring.

Tomlinson would be a big catch for GT.

I am impressed with this young man’s focus on the task at hand, wrestling. Set a goal and focus on the goal.

Nope. Not a conspiracy at all. He is going to his dream school having been told there is now a guaranteed Scholly awaiting him in Title Town. Congrats to Dalvin and to Alabama on acquiring a great young man!!

I guess a Bama commitment is worth as much as a Bama Scholarship offer.

There is no such think as a “guaranteed” scholarship at Bama

Why would anyone look around at top notch schools such as Harvard and Tech and then go second class for Alabama. Seriously…. as a Tech fan even I would rather have him of gone to UGA. A UGA degree means a lot more than anything from Alabama.

I heard from a trusted source that Tricky Nicky is waiting until after the wresling match to “guarantee” the scholarship, just in case DT twist a knee or something.

I wonder if a kid this mature, this smart, would knowingly take a scholarship from another kid if he goes to Alabama. I’m sure he knows that somone’s got to get Taylored for him to go there. And after all the relationship building Tech has done?

But, it does kind of add up that he might be Bama bound. I just hope it’s wrong.

I guess at Bama there are Scholarship offers, and then there are “Guaranteed” Scholarship offers. Shame they have to differentiate between the two. At lease DT was smart enought to seek clarification.

Sure hope he is not injured in the Wrestling match

There’s nothing in the world like being able to make a decision for yourself without being subject to outside influences – and know in your heart that you’ve made the right decisions for all the reasons that are right for you and your situation.

How can bama keep signing high schools athletes when they are 14 over limit already and are dummping prior committments to so-called Bama “Grayshirt”, where you pay your own tab for 1 year and MIGHT get accepted at that time.
Its probably a Bama ponizi scheme that made $aban leave LSU early than expected.

I hope Mr. Tomlinson will strongly consider his options beyond football and stay in state. An education from UGA or Tech will be worth a lot more to him down the road if the NFL doesn’t work out. I am certain that he has considered the many possibilities that he could have his career cut short. Look at Trinton Sturdivant (freshmen ALL-American at UGA. If you are looking for a job in Georgia, you have endless possibilities with UGA or Tech. I can live with either but please don’t let the silver tongued Saban reel you into his web. You are a piece of human flesh to Saban. The minute he can’t use you he will do whatever he needs to get rid of you.
