Antonio Crawford: Georgia Tech DB recruit will visit Miami

Is Georgia Tech in danger of losing one of its top recruits less than a week away from signing day?
DB Antonio Crawford, who has been committed to Georgia Tech since last summer, will take an official visit to Miami this weekend, according to his Facebook page. Crawford wrote that he had been offered a football scholarship by Miami and he “was going to be in MIAMI this weekend to visit The U.”
The 5-foot-11, 184-pounder is from Tampa football powerhouse of Plant High School, which produced UGA talents Aaron Murray and Orson Charles.
Georgia Tech did an intensive evaluation of Crawford at camp last summer, deciding to offer a few days later – with Crawford committing on the spot. At the time, Crawford picked the Yellow Jackets over Iowa State and Florida International.
It was good scouting by Georgia Tech because it took other schools until Crawford’s senior season to notice him, eventually leading to the reported recruiting trip to Miami on the final weekend before signing day.
Ironically, on the same day that the news broke about Crawford, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson visited with the No. 1 recruit for this year’s class – 4-star DE Francis Kallon of Central Gwinnett. “It went well,” Central Gwinnett coach Todd Wofford said. Kallon has spurned offers from Auburn and Tennessee, along with heavy interest from Alabama, Notre Dame and UGA.

Perhaps Tuitts mom thought he would be best served having the exposure her son gets at Notre dame playing football, over what tech had to offer.Go to ND get coached by a good coaching staff and have a shot a t making big $ in the NFL. or go to Tech get shoddy coaching and have a lower draft status or go the free agent route.ND is a quality education with a better football program, especially since PJ and his 1AA /Navy coaching staff came into the picture.

He ought to be glad a BIG school wants one of his recruits that is better then getting all those kids who have an offer from Furman and William and Mary types. QB/DB. nothing is preventing other schools from TRYING to get Tech recruits, and nothing is FORCING any potential signee to COMMIT in advance. Johnson tells them when he recruits them not to commit until they are sure they want to and don’t want to go anywhere else. The kids understand well in advance what the policy is. If they commit, then that means that they accepted that constraint. If they later renege on it, then that pretty much negates their commitment. How much more simple can it be? Commit and BE COMMITTED, or don’t commit and we will try to hold a space open for you until you are ready. Pretty simple and straightforward, if you ask me.
