Will DB-QB Chris Moody flip from Vanderbilt to South Carolina? (Photo by 247Sports.com)
(Note: Story updated at 11:40am on Friday)
Whatever the South Carolina Gamecock coaches said to Chris Moody on Thursday, it worked.
Moody, a defensive back from Henry County High School, confirmed to the AJC on Friday afternoon that he was leaving within the hour for a last-minute official visit to South Carolina. Moody declined further comment.
It’s a surprise because Moody committed to Vanderbilt after his official visit there last weekend.
However, South Carolina hasn’t given up on the idea of flipping Moody and dispatched defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward to his high school on Thursday. After all, before Moody committed to Vanderbilt, South Carolina was considered the school to beat.
“I have no idea what Coach Ward said to Chris but it was good enough to talk him into visiting South Carolina this weekend,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier said. “He’s leaving around noon to go over there.”
Moody is being recruited by both Vanderbilt and South Carolina to play DB, although the Commodores have toyed with the idea of letting Moody play some “Wildcat QB” – which Moody really likes. He was one of the Atlanta area’s top quarterbacks this past season at Henry County.

The SEC, ACC and NCAA must profit from the recruiting services and media coverage of recruiting. Otherwise a kid could sign at any time and avoid all of these announcements and false commitments. Get rid of national signing day.

Got a unique idea that would curb some of this flip floppin crap. It’s call a early signing period. Better yet why not just let these schools sign these kids as soon as they committ. That would stop three things. It would stop over signing, it would make the kids step back and take a look at all their options before they sign on the dotted line and it would make a coach think twice before offering 90 kids scholarships. It will make the coaches be honest with the kids from the get go. The best that they could tell a kid, is that we want you, but we also want so and so and if he commits we may not sign you. Don’t think that a coach will be so quick at signing their 2nd or 3rd choice if they had to were stuck with them.

Maybe he should read this story about Saban offering jobs to girlfriend so he can get a recruit . Our coach is taking some hits this week but I don’t agree in paying for players. I guess some of the NCAA info is true.http://www.momsteam.com/landon-collins/what-landon-collins-mom-understood-that-her-son-did-not-say

Tdawg…I agree with you. I know that this is an important time in the kids life, but it’s also very important to the respective schools. The coaches and schools are left high and dry when these kids play these games and flip flop at the last minute. By then it may be too late to get another kid in. Something has to be done and these kids need to learn that their word and character mean something in life.

i love my chickens, but if you don’t think you can get to the NFL – Vandy is the best choice for an education in the SEC. If you want to make a run for the league under the ol ball coach – c’mon down Mr. Moody!

@SC class of 92, no self-respecting Carolina graduate would ever call the Fighting Gamecocks “chickens.” Nice try.
Chris Moody, I hope you enjoy your visit. Between Carolina and Vandy, you’re going to have a great college experience. Enjoy yourself.

The Factor,
Why are you so jealous?
Is it because SCAR has beaten Clemtech 3 times in a row? Or is it because SCAR has beaten UGA twice in a row? Or is it because SCAR finished this yr in the top 10? Or is it because Spurrier can coach better in his sleep than CMR or Dabo? Or is it because we sent more DBs to NFL starting lineups than UGA and Clemtech?
Or is it cause your jealous of all of the above?
