Josh Harvey-Clemons: New competition for UGA?

Miami may be a last-minute contender in the sweepstakes for Josh Harvey-Clemons, the state’s top uncommitted prospect.

Miami linebackers coach Michael Barrow attended Tuesday’s basketball game of the 6-foot-5, 200-pound linebacker from Lowndes County High School. Harvey-Clemons has UGA and Florida, along with Florida State, as his leaders.

“Coach Barorw is there now, and he’s wanting to talk to us after the game,” said Harvey-Clemons grandfather, Woodrow Clemons, told the AJC.

There is a good possibility that Harvey-Clemons will switch his final official visit from Louisville to Miami. That’s because, as of late Tuesday night, Louisville had not finalized travels plans for this weekend’s visit.

“If Louisville doesn’t respond, and Josh talks to Miami and wants to go down there, I will take Josh down to Miami myself this weekend,” Clemons said. “That will be decided tonight and Josh will make that decision. I don’t know what’s going on with Louisville. Apparently, they think it’s a ‘done deal’ and they’ve given up.”

What about Miami? “They’ve always liked Josh but they’ve been out there in left field,” Clemons said. “After the US Army game, they started calling and coming down. We told them we weren’t interested in an official visit. But since FSU got back into the picture, they’ve decided to make a last effort. It might work. We’ll see.”

I am hearing from my friends in Gainesville that Harvey-Clemons is going to be a Georgia Bulldog….done deal. He wants to start next year and he is not big enough or strong enough to play next year in the SEC. Sounds to me like the grandfather is milking this for all he can get…..and probably not serving the kids best interests. Just my opinion. He is going to be a very good player in a couple of years, not next year….unless he moves to WR or FS.

ForsythDawg….

Someone who has business connections to the Florida coaches and hears things. But he also told me that Jenkins was going to be a Gator….and we all know how that turned out. However, he has not been wrong before on the recruiting information he has told me. Young is just my gut feeling…….Georgia over Auburn, I believe.

Also…..Diggs and Howard will be Gators. It is between Florida and USC for Aglohor….with USC coming on big time because Nelson is very open to a far away location to play football. I just can’t believe he can be taken in my Kiffin after his time at Tennessee. But Kiffin could sell a coffin to a baby, I guess.

Miami is not Florida. It is North Cuba. No way he ends up down there, I believe. Good time to head to South Beach for the weekend on Miami’s dollar, probably.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Florida defensive tackle Leon Orr has settled two misdemeanor drug charges.

Orr accepted a deferred prosecution deal. He must pay $50 in court costs and either an additional $150 fine or 12 1/2 hours of community service.

Orr was cited Jan. 10 after a University Police Department officer searched his dorm room and found marijuana, a marijuana pipe and rolling papers on his desk and bedside table, according to a police report. Orr admitted to owning the drug, pipe and papers. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Orr’s arrest was the ninth involving a Florida player since coach Will Muschamp was hired a year ago and sixth involving marijuana. All six cases ended with deferred prosecution.

Well Well Well….how convient…one dope happy program

This is a recruiting site…..not a pile it on site. Everyone on hear realizes Florida recent issues with players smoking pot. But none of them have been players recruited by Muschamp. Muschamp is very focused on recruiting kids with character and talent, and will not offer kids if they have character issues….several of which are already committed to other schools because of those issues. I think you will see a severe decline in incidents on the Florida campus under Muschamp’s leadership and focus on character and doing things right….and the hard consequences he dishes out for those who are repeat offenders….and he has already proven that. So….why don’t you….give that stuff a break.

I’ve always felt that Avery was a UGA lean, he’s the nephew of Thomas Davis that can’t hurt anything. As far as JHC why not take all your OVs? I mean he was going to Louisville until they stopped calling, so if the U is dumb enough to do it then hey go for it. IMO opinion they’re not even a contender. So much turmoil and now boosters can’t even host kids anymore. What selling points do they have?

ALL FSU….. Clemons has been playing Georgia and Florida all along. He’s just wanted to create some drama by not mentioning FSU because everybody assumed that he was going there. There’s no beef between Clemons and his old teammates (Smith and Reid). That was a lie because they hosted him last weekend. Why would him and his grandfather give FSU such high praises if they didn’t enjoy their hosts?

Distance, depth chart and his old teammates will push him to FSU!

“Yes sir they are now right there with everyone. My grandfather could tell how much I liked it and he looked at me and said “You’re going to have a tough choice here man” and I nodded,” he said. “The COMFORT and the number of quality defensive lineman they have at FSU is why and I wouldn’t mind being a part of that so that’s what made the big difference.”

“FSU said they would use me as a sam or will linebacker. They showed me how it’s possible I could become a two right away, so that certainly stood out to me because I had no idea they were that low on the Will linebacker position,” he said. “That’s why I never considered FSU that heavily, but that certainly changed this weekend when we went over the depth chart. I certainly now feel I can play there.”

“I would say COMFORT is the main thing. Every school is going to have nice facilities and a great education, but I want to be at a school that I’m COMFORTABLE in every way,” said Harvey-Clemons.

“Telvin plays the mike linebacker position and I can play the outside linebacker. It would be great to play with Telvin again because when he played at Lowndes I was a safety, so we haven’t played right next to each other like that,” he said. “He’s a guy that I’ve always looked up to so playing with him would be nice.”Catching up with former teammates was certainly a highlight, but the family atmosphere the five-star prospect experienced made him feel at home.”

Why would he look up to Telvin if he had problems with him? Like I said before, the rumors that him and his grandfather holding a grudge against his old teammates were a flat out lie.

@ bwkdawg

Clemons is starting to realize that he’s not the ideal size to play in a 3-4 defense in the SEC. He’ll be sitting the bench at Georgia until he gains the weight.

Notice his comments about FSU’s future D-Line. Casher, Goldman, Jernigan, Shanks, Edwards and Fowler will keep O-Lineman off his skinny frame, that’s for sure. Also, Telvin Smith is almost as skinny as Clemons is and was 2nd team his freshman year.

Clemons’s love for playing in a 3-4 defense is starting to evaporate. Georgia’s 3-4 defense will ultimately kill their chances. Because of his size, reality is starting to set in. His grandparents only being 1 hour away will be the final nail in the coffin for Georgia.

Here’s something to chew on, UGA fans:

“UGA had Graham Shuler, a 4-star OL out of Tennessee in for an official visit on Sunday and Monday this week.

This all happened VERY quickly. The call went to Shuler on Sunday and he was there later that day.

He loved it in Athens.

Shuler said, “I love Coach Richt and he would be a great guy to play for. I love the southern feel at Georgia, and I had a great visit to Georgia.”

The 6-5/280 OL is currently committed to Stanford and he has informed Stanford coaches about his visit and he is now contemplating having an in-home visit with the UGA staff later this week. He is currently out of town on a school trip, but this in-home visit may happen still.”
