Guess which college coaches showed up for Dalvin Tomlinson?

Georgia Tech got an good look at Dalvin Tomlinson, who is one of the state’s top uncommitted football prospects.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive tackle from Henry County  High School has Georgia Tech, UGA and Alabama as his finalists.

Georgia Tech is rumored to be the school to beat, and the Yellow Jackets made a recruiting contact with Tomlinson on Saturday. Georgia Tech recruiting coordinator Andy McCollum and assistant Joe Speed attended Tomlinson’s wrestling matches at a nearby high school.

“They were there,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier told the AJC. “They were there all day. They just sat upstairs and watched. I guess it was let Dalvin know that they still want him very badly.”

Tomlinson has kept an extremely low profile in the final days of recruiting. He cancelled an official visit to UGA because of “family reasons” and has revealed little about which way he is leaning, although most consider Georgia Tech as the frontrunner. Tomlinson attended nearly every Georgia Tech home game this past season.

“He told me again today that he still has not made up his mind,” Rozier said. “He also said that this is one of the biggest decisions of his life. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He just wants to take his time and make the right decision. He’s going to take the next week to think about it. He announce on signing day.”

Tomlinson will not reschedule his official visit to UGA because of conflicts with his wrestling matches. Tomlinson is a two-time state champion in the heavyweight division.

Is UGA still being considered despite no official visit there? “Yes. He has probably been there 10-12 times since his sophomore year for camps, games and stuff like that. I don’t think there’s anything else that Georgia can show him.”

Alabama has 27 commitments. Are they still recruiting Tomlinson heavily? “That’s a tough call. I know Dalvin is still interested in them … The only thing I can really tell you is that Dalvin will pick Georgia Tech, Alabama or Georgia on signing day.”

THE LANIER COUNTY DEFENSIVE END WAS DROPPED BECASUE GEORGIA TECH COMMITTED NCAA VIOLATIONS WITH RECRUITING HIM. IT WAS STUPID STUFF LIEK TEXTING BUT BECAUSE GEORGIA TECH IS ALREADY IN BIG TROUBLE WITH THE NCAA THEY HAD TO DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES WITH THE KID A.S.A.P. IT WILL ALL COME OUT SOON I PROMISE.

Coach in the know BS. Don’t believe that at all. The Coach and the Kid wouldn’t be saying it was grades then. You lose credibility when you have to YELL your point on the blog. I will believe it when it is not leaked from somebody giving a blog name.

@COACH, I heard that rumor, too. Will be interesting to see if it’s true. I’d hate it if we lost a PSA over a few meaningless NCAA secondary violations for text messages in the non contact period.

I hope GT gets this kid as he will probably make an immediate impact on the field and the classroom should not be a problem for him.
The comments are not worth responding too..

I sure would like to see him in red and black. I can think of alot of reasons to pick UGA over Tech, but I won’t get into them.

It is kind of nice to see a kid who isn’t into the hype and drama that surrounds signing day. It’s great that he is so dedicated to the wrestling team; that is a rough sport with no glory, just lots of hard work.

Tomlinson is a serious student with a 3.9 GPA. he will probably make an academic decision as much as a football decision. And he indicates that family matters enter into the picture. GT is 20 minutes from his family.

Is Harvard totally out of the picture?

And I love the fact that this young man is totally focused on the task at hand, his wrestling team.
That characteristic will take him where he wants in life.

Bad as I hate to say it, this will go a LONG way towards shoring up ya’lls defense. Would ya’ll be kind enough to loan us some o-linemen? It is apparant that we can’t bring ‘em in……..and can’t teach ‘em to run-block after they get here!

Denzel McCoy should serve as the example for DT to consider. McCoy had an unexpected football-career ending injury…but he will go on to have a good career outside of football. He’s on a medical scholarship now and will get a great education. We have two players who’ve recently graduated to go on to Microsoft, and they’ll make their millions over time instead of in a lump sum in the NFL.

Check out the top 100 recruit list. Wonder why Paul Johnson hasn’t been able to secure even 1 of America’s top 100 football prospects?

Well, I don’t know why he can’t recruit America’s best, but hey, at least we only lost 5 games last year. I guess that’s pretty good considering Clemson and Florida State lost 4 games last year, and those teams are steeped with 4 and 5 star recruits…

I wonder how many times the same little girl can keep posting under multiple names (Jorge, et al) on one blog. Not sure what this article has to do with JR O who had his offer rescinded….there’s the very good possibility he may not even qualify to get in to Central Florida…CPJ could have let him keep taking the SAT (he only took it multiple times and still couldn’t qualify) only for Feb 1 to roll around and he STILL didn’t qualify to get in to GT…so then he would have to transfer and wait a year (sounds like something Saban or Miles would do). Some how it’s all the coaches fault, right?

You don’t want to “call the kid on the carpet” as you say, WnE? I know your vajina hurts this morning from UGA’s 5th decommit so far this offseason, but chill out.

Jorge, Why would Phil Smith, a habitual rules violator, be welcome with open arms at UCF, when he was kicked of the team at GT. Someone might ask a similar question about your coach.

I think that UCFs standard may not be as high as others.

Sure I hope Tomlinson comes to Tech but he and several others who wait until the last second, which is his right to do, make it tough on coaches. A coach may be after a star who will not commit until signing day or later so the coach must make contingency plans without him before signing day.

Yea, like UGa wanting CAM as a TE not a QB. A kid will pick a place to play based on the chance he will get to play the position he WANTS to play. Hell Richt and Bobo think 35:55minute MURRAY is a Heisman QB too.

I have great confidence, that after next years dismal season that you will come around… No worries.. Unless of course you are like the many who think winning 8 games this year was a success, noting that all the wins came against very average to bad teams….

gt4ever, since we were projected only to win 6, at most, this year, then yes, I do think this season was a success. Was I satisfied with it? NO!!! But I was enjoyed it a helluva lot more than I did any of Chan’s years at Tech. And honestly, I don’t think next season will be any worse than this one. Obviously, we HAVE to have a better QB, but I really think we have all the tools to make next year a memorable one (in a positive sense, of course). And even with losing Junior G and McAlister, we still have a chance to have an excellent recruiting class (at least by historical Tech standards)

aaaahhh, Super, the eternal optimist….. I really hope your right…. I guess I have higher expectations for my beloved institution… Our only, “signature” win this year came at the hands of Clemson… I think the whole nation has figured out that Clemson was average at best… So, I guess if we continue to schedule these cream puffs every year, and we play in a very soft conference, then we can conclude a very successful season every year… and for 2.5 million dollars a year Paul Johnson can continue to run his outdated offense, beating up on the weak sisters to build the statistics, proving yet again that this offense is the best in the land…. Yikes, what HORSECRAP! I for one will not except this as the best we can do, and I will never lower my expectations. GT has a long GREAT history of football, and it’s time we as alums, fans expect better!
