QB Nick Schuessler, who led Grayson High School to the Class AAAAA state championship and who his coach compares to former UGA QB David Greene, has set up an official visit with Mississippi State for Jan. 27.
Mississippi State contacted Schuessler on Tuesday after JC QB Bo Wallace committed to Ole Miss over Mississippi State. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Schuessler has an offer from Middle Tennessee State, where he will visit this weekend.
“Mississippi State said I was the No. 1 QB on their board, but that they favored [Wallace] because he was a JC guy who could enroll early and that’s what they needed,” Schuessler said. “They didn’t mention an offer. They just said to get out here on your visit and we’ll see what happens.”
Grayson coach Mickey Conn compares Schuessler to the former UGA QB because his tall and athletic build, the style he manages the offense, the way he plays under pressure, and his ability to win big games. Conn was an assistant at South Gwinnett High School when Greene played there.
As a senior, Schuessler completed 121 of 181 passes for 1,753 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Really surprised Paul Johnson hasnt offered these kids, after all, Furman, Murray State, Lehigh and Coastal Carolina are chasing. PJ says we dont need a kicker, thats why 3 tops ones chose other schools. He’d rather have someone miss Field Goals and have kickoffs run back to make game more exciting.

This guy isn’t going to blow anyone away with his arm. but he’s got a good head on his shoulders and knows the game. He wasn’t asked to much at Grayson (a running team), but when he was asked to run the 2- minute or when they needed a score(rarely) he produced. His game winning drive against colquitt comes to mind.

Compared to David Greene? He must be slow, pasty white and with a weak arm. Not really the comparison you want is it?
