Miami and Tennessee flirt with Georgia OL who is committed

Whitewater OL Jordan Watson (AJC)

Whitewater OL Jordan Watson (AJC)

Tennessee and Miami are flirting with one of Georgia’s top offensive lineman who has been committed to Kentucky since last summer.

Jordan Watson, a 6-foot-5, 310-pounder from Whitewater High School committed to Kentucky last July among 10 offers, which included Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and South Florida.

After a stellar senior year, Watson was offered a football scholarship by Miami. He was also recently contacted by Tennessee to see if he had serious interest in the Volunteers if he was offered. There’s also been rumors that UGA may make a late run at Watson, who attended Mark Richt Camp last summer.

“It’s a great feeling to have programs like Miami and Tennessee contact me,” Watson said. “But I’m very blessed to have the opportunity to go to Kentucky. I’m 100-percent committed to Kentucky.”

Here’s senior video of Watson …

Get him Richt and company. I’m sure he won’t like losing to Georgia every year if he goes to Kentucky. Tell him that. Dude is 6′5, 310 pounds. He’s ready right now. Go get him.

Tennessee, not sure if they want you and last minute will tell you they do not want you to come there and THEN will not let you transfer away! Yeah thats where you want to go…LOL. They are not going to end up with any above average recruits. I sure would not go there. NO WAY. They are all about Tenn, not about you. And to top it all off, they are a circus mess up there. It will be a LONG time before they are on the right track. The A.D. and coach are on the hot seat. From Kiffin to this. Can it get any worse up there? Probably so.

Once again UGA is late in offering a schlorship to a big home grown lineman. When big linemen are at a premium and we need them, why do we wait so long? Are we being too selective and thereby missing a lot of good in-state players?

UGA is 4-2 against UK since 2006, and were lucky to escape with a win in 2011 as well as 2008. Hardly “losing to Georgia every year”. He is going with immediate playing time opportunity, and as much as Richt melts down yearly, no guarantee he will be there beyond 2012. UK has made tremendous inroads recruiting GA over the past few years. I see that continuing.

UT down to their B list already with three weeks to go. Oh Boy, it appears Little Vince is in trouble. Tubberville or Houston Nutt will be the next coach of the Vols. Ole Karma did a job on Fat Phil and the Vols and the 10RC Stud. Next time you wish to try and ruin a program you might consider the old saying…
“you play in sheet then expect to get some on you”. 5 years in a row and counting with no end in sight.

As a Cats fan it’s nice for him to say that. UGA snatched Kenarious Gates at the last second a couple of years ago. Richt wastes more talent than anyone in the country except Stoops. Glad to see Watson is staying loyal. Hope Joker steps up next year. I like Joker, but we’ve gotta have a better on-field product in 2012..

@Bean Counter……We lose out at UGA on big home grown OL because CMR is too busy stockpiling team with skill position players.. Michigan St. showed the dawgs what happens when you dominate the game with BOTH lines..

UT’s line coach does not like big guys like this. He likes the smaller quicker linemen. UGA or KY is his best bet!

Ga has only 16 recruits and didn’t offer this guy? With the way they blocked in Outback you would thing they would offer any OL with a pulse, I really have to wonder whats going on in Athens with the recruiting this year, Ranked 19th in recruiting, Lets hope for a late surge with some good recruits.

UGA fan i cant believe you are bragging about beating Kentucky every year. Year in Year out top 10 recruiting class with nothing to show. Weak schedule next year are you guys going to make run next year for the big dance. I see National Championship of I forgot LSU and Alabama stands in UGA way. Can you guys play on level with top teams or send more players to NFL but know National Championship

Hope he stays committed to KY.

Problems down in Miami may make him stay and then Tenn got it’s own problems as well turning players away and what not.

UGA doesn’t deserve to have the chance I am a bulldog fan, but guess what Richt you should have offered the kid earlier on then this late.

Our schedule does set up nice but that’s not the players’ faults. They just play. The biggest obstacle between us and the SEC title game will be South Carolina. Beat them and we may just run the table. Could we be in Miami for the BCS title game next January? Could be. With our defense we always have a chance. On the offensive side, if we can put together a great O-line that’ll block somebody, and develop some kind of running game, we could be a dark horse.

Rambo returning is just fuel to the fire. That gives us 9 out of 11 starters back on defense. We are gonna be sick on defense next season. SICK you hear me! You thought we were good this past season? Well we’re gonna be dominant in 2012. Here’s the lineup:

DE: Abry Jones
NG: John Jenkins/Kwame Geathers
DE: Garrison Smith

OLB: Jarvis Jones (All-American, All-SEC)
ILB: Mike Gilliard
ILB: Alec Ogletree (future All-SEC player)
OLB: Cornelius Washington OR Ray Drew OR Jordan Jenkins

CB: Branden Smith
FS: Bacarri Rambo
SS: Shawn Williams
CB: Sanders Commings

That’s a fantastic defense. If our offense can hold up their end and put up some points, it doesn’t have to be 30-40…with our defense all our offense has to do is put up somewhere between 20-25 and we should be set. Let’s do it!

Jeff

Actually with our defense, our offense would only have to put up 17-20 points and we should win every single time. Our defense doesn’t give up that many points. Remember, in the 1st halfs of BOTH the SEC title game and the Outback bowl we shutout the opponent. LSU didn’t even get a 1st down in the 1st half and MSU couldn’t do anything. If we can do that for all 4 quarters no way we can lose. No way. We just need to crush an opponent. But our defense can get tired, that’s why we need a solid running game to help them out. I BELIEVE!

Think the running game will be fine. Was working pretty well until Crowell got hurt/suspended. He went over 100 several games and was well on his way to 1,000 yards before the injuries. I know, he took himself out too much, etc., but the kid was running the ball well. With a full season of off-season S&C and little maturity and a lot of competition from Malcolme and Marshall, he should be ok. At least I hope so.

As for this Watson, can’t get enough OL’s so go get him. Gates worked out pretty well for us. Hope we can get Young. Need the big uglies.

It is indeed evident that UGA’s recruiting program needs a major overhaul! Why are you dragging your feet? How about looking back at the BCS National Championship game. Both teams got there due to mighty good recruiting and I might add, beating UGA to the punch. Wake up or remain in the category of mediocrity forever!

Something that all the people that want “Richt & Company” to go get every single OL that gets mentioned in a recruiting article is this: NOT EVERY OL MENTIONED IS GREAT. Do you really think that an OL that has offers from Ole Miss and GT is the same caliber of player that we should “be offering earlier?”

Let’s be honest, getting scholarship offers from any school is great for the kid, Good luck son. But you can’t blame “Richt & Company” for letting, Oh I don’t know 100+ players go to out-of-state schools when we can only sign a max of 25 players and the state of GA has 175+ kids getting offers from D1 Schools.

Pure #’s says that we can’t get them all. Some will inevitably leave the state. Especially when the bordering programs are at the caliber of: Alabama, South Carolina, FSU, UF, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn.

Thanks for the commitment big guy. Now we need about 4 more OLinemen just like you in this same class and next years class as well. BTW, he would be bug eyed crazy to go to UT their coaching staff is in a shambles up in K-Town right now.
