Will nation’s top RB Keith Marshall commit to UGA on Dec. 6?

Keith Marshall prediction?

After all of UGA’s troubles at running back this season, it has become a top priority in recruiting.

There may be some good news on the way for the Bulldogs. Keith Marshall, who is ranked as the No. 1 RB in the country by Scout.com, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he will be making his college decision on Dec. 6.

UGA is rumored to have a slight edge over Clemson for the 5-star running back from Raleigh, N.C. Marshall also has Notre Dame, Florida and South Carolina listed as his finalists, and will make his final official visit with the Gamecocks this weekend.

“Keith has handled his recruiting as well as any high-profile recruit I’ve ever covered; he’s played everything real quiet,” said Rusty Mansell, National Recruiting Analyst for 247sports.com.

“From everyone I’ve talked to around Keith’s situation, it sounds like Georgia is in pretty good shape. But he’s got another visit to take and it’s not over.”

UGA will likely sign two running backs this year, with Marshall as the top target. The Bulldogs are recruiting the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Marshall with the same type of priority and urgency status they gave to Isaiah Crowell last year.

“Just like with Isaiah Crowell, Georgia got in early with Keith Marshall and let him know he was a priority for this recruiting class,” Mansell said. “With Isaiah Crowell, it was very clear how important he was to Georgia. There was not another committable offer out there to a running back, except for Isaiah Crowell. It was either hit or miss. Georgia has made Keith Marshall a clear target this year, and they’ve been on him just has hard as they were with Isaiah Crowell.”

What other RB would UGA like to sign this February? Another North Carolina product, Todd Gurley (6-1, 195) of Tarboro, N.C. It was a good sign for UGA when Gurley returned to Athens last weekend for an unofficial to watch the Kentucky game. Gurley and Marshall both took official visits to UGA for the South Carolina game. Gurley will announce his college decision on Jan. 3.

“Georgia and North Carolina are on top for him and have been for awhile, with Clemson  and NC State trailing those two,” Mansell said. “Whatever happens at North Carolina, with whomever they hire as coach, that’s probably going to make or break his college decision.”

I missed the Furman game and will not be attending the FSU game (first time in nearly 30 years)….because a 19 year old idiot made a left turn without looking and cruised right over my Cruiser with me on it about 10 days ago…..and spent 4 days in the hospital. Not able to get out of bed right now….up again in about a week they say.

But…..I will be watching on TV…..also big recruiting weekend for the Gators….as their will be tons of big time recruits in THE SWAMP at night. And that night game will impress the recruits….win or lose. Speaking of FSU…. Florida had a tough year…..but FSU started out number 5 in the country and ended up 7-4.

And where in the world is, “Naganole” these days. He was on here all the time at the beginning of the year ranting and raving about the mighty Noles.,…..what happend…..Naganole?

Florida on probation .. NO
GT on probation .. YES, for the second time in 10 years

Of course, Old Gold tries to pile on a team that has to BCS trophies while his own team has already had a losing season in its current coaches first three years, 2 losses to its in state rival, three bowl losses in .. well, three years, and no real shot of a decent bowl this year. Maybe this year will be against a team they can beat.

GT….

Meyer wanted Murray……but Florida had Tebow, Newton, and Brantley on the roster at the time. Georgia had no one to challenge him if he went there. Little did we know that Newton would not go to class and would transfer (he did not transfer because of the computer incident….but because of grades….he went to JC)…..and Brantley would not adapt to the spread. And Florida also had Hernandez in Charles postion…..so Georgia was a better fit for both Murray and Charles at the time. If they both could have seen into the future…..I think both would be Gators right now. But the Gators would not have Brissett now….and I think he has a brighter future in both college and the NFL than Murray. Time will tell….but the odds are good with Weis coaching him.

I am still waiting to hear why you talked smack for over a year and then after losing to UGA, you disappeared for a few weeks. I guess you were hiding in your basement. You continue to criticize UGA and their players, but you need to answer why you have all of these 5* and 4* recruits, but your record the last few years is atrocious. I guess Spurrier’s old comment about able to get all of these recruits and not having anything to show for it suits UF as well. Isn’t there a UF blog somewhere in FL for you to post your dribble about UF????

Old Gold…..

What losing seasons would that be? Florida currently is the team with the longest non-losing seasons in a row. A win over FSU…..which is possible now with a lot of healthy Gators returning for the game….with Brantley at about 90 percent now…..and a win over Michigan in the Gator Bowl….and the Gators end up with a decent season. A loss in both….and it is another story……their first losing season in over 20 years. A lot is on the line for Muschamp this weekend and in the bowl game….for that reason.

For the record……I did not disappear. I was in Jax……and posted the very next day and have been doing so many days, even when I was in the hospital. Also……if you go back and check…..my prediction for the Georgia-Florida game this year was a 3 point victory for the Dawgs…..and of course, I was wrong as usual…..as the Dawgs won by 4.

And…if you go back and check the record of my posts…..you will see that I not only predicted a Georgia win this year…..but I picked the Gators to go 9-3 if Brantley improved and stayed healthy and 7-5 or 6-6 if he didn’t. Again….l was wrong. Branley did get better and the Gators have only won 6 games this year…..but he did get injured.

So….maybe you should spend less time ranting and raving….and more time reading my acutal posts.

……and 1:10…..a reminder…..

Florida has done more with its 4 and 5 star recruits on game day in recent years than Georgia has…..including never gone to Shreveport and Memphis for Bowl games…..another sign of the elite status of the Florida program…..when in its down years….the program still goes to the Outback Bowl and the Gator Bowl….not to the Independence Bowl and the Liberty Bowl……just saying. And I am not making incorrect statements about Georgia players on here…..what I have stated about Crowell is solid based on his performance……I stated that he is gifted….but lacking in heart, effort, and motivation…..and that is true.

No need to re-read your posts. I just want you to go away. You are just like Naganole, disappear after talking smack. Like I said previously, go find your UF blogs in FL. No one really cares to hear all your insights and thoughts about UGA or your rantings about your roster. Who cares? We surely do NOT. You have all those 5* and 4* recruits and your record the last couple of years is a joke considering the talent. It figures that you blame your old coach, who brought you 2 NC’s.

TampaDawg….

I posted Sunday afternoon….just after my wife and I arrived back from JAX. I make a habit of doing that every year….win or lose….and mostly after a win in recent years. I also make it a habit to make a score prediction the day before the game and post it on the AJC Dawg site. I have been right most years…..a couple of times I predicted Dawg wins and the Gators won. I was right this year. I predicted a Gator win the year the Dawgs won and went to the Sugar Bowl to play Hawaii….and I was wrong….and came on afterwards to take my abuse….including encoutering all the anti-Tebow abuse after that game…..many saying he was a overblown, bad QB and that game proved it….and they were wrong. This year, Georgia won, as I predicted. But Georgia is not a great team this year….and I think LSU will prove that in Atlanta. But Georgia is a good team and will become a very good team, if not great team, next year. But I also think Florida will be a very good team next year…and will be a great team the following year. But I could be wrong….and I could be right….in both cases…..maybe, But, in either case, I don’t run and I don’t hide….ever. And what exactly would I be hiding or running from anyway???? Can someone come through the internet to get me? Wooooooooooooooooooooo,……I better run and hide now.

Tampagator… The two QB’s you named were recruited as was your o line and those two midget running backs FOR THE SPREAD OFFENSE. You don’t have line men that can pave the way for a consistent running game and won’t for at least another year. You have no depth (spare me the injury crap all teams deal with injuries) along your oline. Your RB’s weigh under 200 lbs. I don’t care if they’re running behind the steelers oline, neither can produce in the SEC unless u spread the field and put them out in space. SEC defenses are too big and too fast. I told u last spring UF was down. I’m telling you now they are down for several years. You can’t seriously be comparing washed up semi retire spurrier, Richt, and anyone on the UF coaching staff with Les Miles, Nick Saban and Bobby Petrino. That’s just funny. You sir are either a hommer or truely don’t understand the game of football. But don’t let that stop you from posting your opinion. Even if you don’t really know WTH your talking about. Roll Tide!!

Tampadawg…. As a life long mostly suffering falcon fan I fully understand your dislike for petrino. But look at what he did at lousville and consider he’s one win away from having an ARKANSAS team in the BCS Championship game. I wouldn’t let the guy walk my dog but he can coach up an offense. If we’re stricktly talking wins and loses he’s better than anyone in the east and #3 in the west. I’d put Richt #1 or #2,in the east. Franklin at vandy has impressed with what he has to work with. Imagine someone like that at UGA? Sleeping giant.

LOL Blackout, especially about the “wouldn’t let him walk your dog” comment. I know what he did at Louisville too. Louisville fans talk about it all the time still around the USF games (by the way, GO BULLS this weekend), but he did ok at Louisville. Nothing spectacular. In fact, he was like the Falcons and a sufferer of the “up and down” syndrome. Up this year, down the next. And last year, losing to OSU is inexcusable. Losing to the big 10? What’s up with that from an SEC school? In a BCS game?

Back for a couple of secs…..

@ Blackoutanyone…..

Meyer recruited Driskell for the spread offense to replace Tebow (and Brantley if he had stayed at Florida because Brantley would have transferred if he had). Then, Muschamp came on board with Weis and they both recruited Driskell to fit into the pro style and showed him how he would. Meyer did not recruit Brissett because he is a pro-style QB, but is also athletic and strong. Weis is the one who convinced Muschamp that the Gators had to go after Brissett because Weis saw film and realized the enormous potential of the kid in his style of offense…and how natural and innate he was as a QB in any system. Brissett was headed to Miami as a pro style QB before Weis came and convinced him to come play for him at Florida. So….both Driskell and Brissett were recruited by Muschamp and Weis to play in the pro style offense. Now….Murphy is strickly a spread QB and why he did not see any action this year at QB….and why he will either play RB or WR next year….or transfer. Most likely, he will switch postiions and stay at Florida. I doubt Florida will recuit another QB seriously this year (although the Indiana decommit kid….Hunter Keil or something like that)….has shown some interest in Florida and Weis. But Bama and Texas has gained most of his interest since his decommit from Indiana. This guy is a 5-star with a great arm…….sort of like the current USC QB, Barkley. Florida might take in a jr. college QB just for an emergency situation.

TampaDawg…. as in most years the SEC is playing for a National Championship, and therefore the #2, #3, #4 and #5 SEC teams will play in bowls against competition that finished higher in their respective conferences. Arkansas was the #3 or #4 SEC team (even though they were ranked higher than Bama and LSU) playing the Big Ten Champion that was stacked with ineligible players. Just my opinion.

Tampa Dawg, OSU was a legitimate top ten team last year for sure but I agree about the Bobby Petrino thing, I am not sold on the guy just yet. He wins games but not the really big ones from my prior knowledge ( I do not exactly follow his team closely) and his offenses are definitely top flight but from what I can recall they could have lost to Vandy, Ole Miss gave them a run for their money, and Alabama handled them pretty easily. The LSU game will be a good test to how good they are and I would have liked to see how they would have looked at full strength will Knile Davis.

What has lead you to believe Charlie Weis can evaluate talent? He didn’t do so well at ND did he? Look bro the gators will rise again. But it wont be next year and you really should brace yourself for that. Gatornation will have to be patient. Just because Muschamp was a great DC doesn’t mean he’ll be a great HC. Time will tell. But there is too much talent at UF right now for the program to be were it is. That is a direct reflection of your HC and the coordinators he hired.

Dawg fans put the kool-ade down. If this kid played in Ga. everyone would be saying this is just another RB. There are 3-4 just like him that play every Friday night in the Atlanta metro. He’s not doing anything super special. He’s running thru 5 ft wide holes against little people who are not fast and certainly are not big. Look at the opposing LB #54 getting man handled. No offense, but get real. Why not get excited about a kid that WANTS to come to Athens no matter who the coach is.
