Patrick Flowe, a linebacker from Parkview High School, has committed to Georgia Southern.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder picked Georgia Southern over a half-dozen offers, including Georgia State, Troy and Toledo. Flowe is the son of longtime Parkview football coach Cecil Flowe.

“Georgia Southern has really been after him for a long time,” the elder Flowe said. “We went down, visited and saw a game. The coaches have really been recruiting him hard. Patrick wanted to be fairly close to home. I think it’s a good fit for him. They want him as a true linebacker. I think that was a big key for him. He made his decision, and he’s excited about it.”

Flowe is the emotional leader for Parkview’s defense, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and has a 3.96 GPA. “He will be an outside linebacker at Georgia Southern,” the elder Flowe said. “He will be a guy that plays on the edge like he does for us now. He’ll drop in coverage and also be able to go rush the QB.”

@ AgentOrange- yes, a 6′1 200 lb LB….he’s a high school kid that will be bigger and stronger as his body matures (like most men do). He’ll be 220 by this time next year easy.

And with 4.4 speed, he will be a monster in the defensive scheme Georgia Southern runs. They don’t recruit 230 lb backers that run 4.7. The Eagles depend on speed, speed and more speed and thats what they recruit first and foremost. Looks like he’s a great student too. Welcome to OUR HOUSE young man.

Sounds fishy to me. A 5′10″ kid who probably at best runs a 4.6 gets a full ride to a top 1-AA school.

Congratulations young man on your excellence both on the field and in the classroom. I had hoped Tech would show more interest, but you have made an excellent choice. Best wishes for future success.

The kid can really run 4.4 but a 4.5 is fast as well and 4.6 is decent speed. Coach Monken said he was recruiting speed. Georgia Southern had alot of recruits at the homecoming game look for more commitments in the coming week. Go Eagles, GATA!!!

Monken looks for speed, determination, football knowledge, and a good all around student. You have to have these attributes as well as a love for the game because he is going to push you. Thanks for choosing Georgia Southern. I hope you have a great four years here!

4.4 in high school. There are very few pros that run a 4.4. If he truly could run a 4.4 he would be a strong d-1 prospect in several positions.

Good luck to the young man, but lets at least say it how it is.

I’m a big Ga Southern Eagles fan. This is great news for the school and for Patrick! Good luck. I just hope Dad remembers Monkens the coach:)

According to the VTO Sports Combine results, which provides info for Rivals.com, Patrick checked in at 6′0″, 200 lbs, ran a 4.41 in the 40, 4.38 in the shuttle and did 20 reps in the strength test. This was at an event where hundreds of prospective athletes were being tested. Patrick’s performance was among the best reported and the list included a number of the big time four and five star kids you read about in the AJC.

Ok straightshooter, if I choose to believe this (which I don’t) why didn’t his father play him at QB or RB, Parkview could have used him?

congrats, but go Wofford on Saturday…4.4? in the 35 yd dash? Daddy’s stop watch will not match the college one’s. If he runs a 4.4, then there are some 3.9 or 4.0 guys around Atlanta. What a joke!

Can you people ever get on here and congratulate these young men for earning their offers instead of bashing them. It’s obvious that Ga. Southern offered him for his ability so to all of you young men who will get your offers congrats and use them for what they are for to get your degree.
