The next great football prospect?

London Lewis, who is 12 years old and stands 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, has been invited to play in the JuniorRank Academic All-American football game in Phoenix on Jan. 2.

Lewis is a seventh grader at DeKalb County’s Chapel Hill Middle School and plays both ways at offensive tackle and defensive tackle. Lewis is in the gifted academic program at Chapel Hill.

The JuniorRank All-American Game, presented by Russell Athletic, stated in its press release that it “scouts the best young junior high school student athletes across the country …”  JuniorRank has a game for ages 14-under and 13-under played at Phoenix’s Chase Field. Lewis will be part of the 13-under game. London is the son of Henry and Valeria Lewis.

Either this kid will end up being the next TJ Barnes at 6′7 340 lbs because he has a ton of growing left to do, or he will stop growing all together because he has already hit his growth spirt and he will beef up some more and be a Linebacker.

Congratulations Mr. London Lewis on your being a stellar student AND a fine football player. Please remember it was your academic excellence that got you this invite. Enjoy your time out in Phoenix and enjoy just being a kid!

Hey guys this is a 7th grader. Don’t use this time to make a childish remark about your rival school’s academics, but give him a big CONGRATULATION!!! It is awesome to have academic talent from Georgia being on display for the nation to see. And who cares what Mr. Lewis does as far as his physical maturation, but rather what he does academically.

Congratulations to London, but you need to also write an article about Blake Hall out of Covington, GA. He’s 13 years old, 6′2″ and 290 pounds, and is invited to play in the same game.

If he is smart, he will let his Dad handle all of the negiotiations with Auburn. That way he will not get into trouble. Also, get him a lap top so that he will not be tempted like PC Cam was.

My grandson is only 2 weeks old and is already 16 lbs. Current projection is he will be 6 ft 10 inches and 310lbs and run a 4.5. The best thing is that his father ran a 4.3 and was bigger than Herschel while his mother was an all-american volleyball star. Agents should not call.

@JACKETfan… I agree and know from experience. I was a 6′1″ 210 13 year old, and now i’m 25 and 6′1″ but around 250, lol. I grew the wrong way i guess.

The kid has all the potential in the world, but people need to realize that he could stop growing now. Congrats London, this is a great achievement and I wish you nothing but the best.

Thanks a lot Russell Athletic for making these kids feel a sense of entitlement at even younger ages.
By the time these kids are 18 who knows what they’ll feel entitled too. No wonder most of these kids have no grip on reality….
How big is mom and dad? Wonder where this kids body is heading….Hope he has responsible parents.

Paul Johnson does not know how to recruit. Painfully obvious. Georgia is in the top 25 of all polls. Georgia tek out of the top 25 all polls and on NCAA PROBATION in FOOTBALL back-to-back repeat offenders of NCAA Major Infractions database.

Georgia is to late. Saban offered him last year and Lame Kitten flew down from Southern Cal earlier this year and timed him in the 40. He did a 4.8 which is pretty good for a 12 year old. Reportedly, he can bench press 220. Lame’s pitch was that by the time he graduates high school Southern Cal will only have one year of probation left. Less Miles is recruiting a kid in Baton Rouge that is also 12 who is around 6′ and 190 lbs. but he has been in contact with London’s daddy and is trying to work out an unofficial visit after the season. He wants to take the kid to Chucky Cheese for his 13th birthday but that may against NCAA regulations. Scout rates him a 4 star OL at this point and Rivals says he projects to be a 5 star nose tackle. I don’t know why it takes Mark Richt so long to contact these in state prospectsw. The kid feels slighted and his father feels that UGA has dissed him as Richt has not been on London’s campus to watch him play a game yet.

Chapel hill feeds into SWD but this kid will more than likely go to MLK which is walking distance from chapel hill. MLK has more of the spot light right now than SWD. Besides, alot of parents do not want their kids playing for buck godfrey. Some had valid points and some didn’t. He needs to go to a school that gives him the best chance at a great education and football career. Hopefully it’s SWD!!!

2nd. What’s next? The best pound ballers will be invited to a national all star game. This is getting out of hand and these things need to stop. It’s not in the best interest of the players. It’s all about money and using these kids.

My four year old son is four feet six inches tall and weighs 70 lbs. He will go to UGA unless Auburn offers at least 250k. They can have a 50k discount if they will go ahead and pay now instead of waiting until he is a high school senior.

And we wonder why kids act the way they do. Look at the adults that are making decisions now a days. They have a child’s mentality. Sad for amateur athletics to even give a 12 year the press coverage like this. So much can change before this kid is 17 years old. Let him be a kid.

Awesome kid! He is just that. Good loving spirit and eager to learn. I have never seen him play football. What I do know is that if he becomes a student of the game the way he takes to learning the academics he can go to any school he wants to on an ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP.
