Buford High School's Vadal Alexander (AJC photo by Michael Carvell)
If you heard somebody screaming in the distance on Monday afternoon, it may have been LSU coach Les Miles.
Vadal Alexander, one of the Georgia’s most heavily-recruited college football prospects, committed to LSU over Auburn and Alabama. The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder from Buford High School was ranked by some as the state’s No. 1 OL prospect.
Alexander called all three of his finalists on Monday, and got an enthusiastic reaction from Miles.
“It was great,” Alexander told the AJC. “He was ecstatic. He was screaming and yelling, you know, only like Coach Miles can do. He is very outgoing. He was happy and he was definitely screaming.”
Miles had plenty to hoop and holler about. LSU rallied to edge Auburn for Alexander’s services.
“I had taken my official visits to Alabama and Auburn, and going into this past weekend’s trip to LSU, Auburn was leading,” Alexander said. “But I went to LSU and it just clicked for me. It was one of those things that I just knew when I left from Louisiana on Sunday evening. It was the atmosphere, the coaches, and everything. There was nothing negative about LSU, It was all positive.”
Alexander is a native of New Orleans, and lived in Louisiana until he was three years old. His father played college football at Nichols State. Alexander said the Louisiana connection did not affect his college decision. “No, it really didn’t. I went into my official visits with an open mind. Everybody was even and got their chance. Being from Louisiana wasn’t a factor.”
What position will Alexander play on LSU’s offensive line? “They see me as a tackle but I would play any position that they need me to play. I would play tackle or guard.”
Buford High School is the four-time defending Class AA state champions in Georgia. It has nine players that have either been offered by or committed to major colleges, including linebacker Dillon Lee (committed to Alabama) and tight end Kurt Freitag (Alabama, Florida or maybe FSU).

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study showed that Alabama was one of the worst in the country for obesity with most counties having over 29% of adults obese, except for ten which exceeded 26%.[66] Residents were least likely of any state in the nation to exercise.[67] Alabama has one of the highest incidents of adult onset diabetes in the country, exceeding 10% of adults.

Kid has been an LSU lock since enrolling at Buford. Avery Young, John Theus, Chester Brown, Greg Pyke, and getting Kolton Houston back next year will be a nice addition to Chris Burnette, Dallas Lee, Kenarious Gates, Austin Long, David Andrews, Watts Dantzler, Hunter Long, and Nathan Theus.
OL line will be young, but plenty of bodies and potential. Believe 8 of that group was offered by Alabama, Auburn and Florida, but chose the Dawgs.

Bottom Line:
Alexander only lived in Louisiana until he was three years old. He lived in Georgia most of his life.
The thing that did was: It was the atmosphere, the coaches, and everything. There was nothing negative about LSU, It was all positive.”
Per Alexander: Being from Louisiana wasn’t a factor.”

Lol @01Hawk laying beat downs on these fools all night. Not sure why all the UGA fans are on here as they were never considered by this elite prospect. Tide Roll owns this board. Sad but true.
Bama will sign 5 of the top 11 Georgia prospects for 2011. Has the #2 2013 prospect committed and is a heavy favorite for the #1. Those are hard facts ladies.

@Brewmaster, please lay off off the cough medicine. Cam Newton IS running over NFL linemen. He leads all NFL QBs with 5 goal line touchdowns. UGA would’ve been been “embarrassed” to have Cam Newton at QB? Not this Dawg fan. As much as I dislike Auburn, Cam had the greatest single season at QB last year in college football history. I’m fine with Stafford over Newton, but heck no with Logan Gray, Joe Cox or Aaron Murray. Cam Newton is the real deal. Deal with it.

@01HAWK……….This dead coach you like to quote, Paul “Bear” Bryant certainly did believe in winning at all cost. Hawk, I was alive and actively following college football during the “Bear’s” run. Back in those days there was an honor-system that Bryant trampled like he trampled his own players. Many of the modern day rules in the SEC and in fact NCAA were implemented because of this coward of a man……………I would challenge you or anyone else to dispute my claims. #1 Bryant owned the University of Alabama and thus was never challenged by the administration when he used Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Golf, Track, and Basketweaving scholarships for “his” football program………This practice was outlawed, and Bryant was the only creep [or cheat] that was low enough to use it. He also liked to incite “badblood” in an era that was dominated by real gentlemen coaching in the SEC. Furthermore, being a Georgia man, having no love for Georgia Tech. I will say, Bobby Dodd was probubly the finest example of a gentleman as you could find. And yes, Bobby Dodd took his Yellow Jackets and left the SEC as a direct result of Bryants “dirty play” and cheating MO…………….You Bama boys might have won games under that creep, alot of games, but I’d rather lose than cheat…………RED

@Georgia Tech, let me get this straight. You are a tech fan but live in New Orleans. And you are defending a program that is not your team. You live in one of the most corrupt cities in the nation, for that matter states. So is it fair to say that you think what LSU’s players did to the kid, repeatedly kicking him in the head while he was on the ground was ok? And now those athletes are back on the field like nothing ever happened. Now thats a fine example of a progam you so choose to step up to the plate for. Its a wonder you can get yourself dressed in the morning.

LOL … someone needs to inform dawgenuff that the Interweb is connected by tubes … or something . They seem genuinely confused and hurt about why ( and how ) it is Tide fans might be reading or commenting about recruits from the state when a flood of top Georgia players leave every year now .
Maybe if Richt and Kompany read the AJC more often they would find out quicker about which players in the state of Georgia are being recruited by some of the better staffs in college football -)

Bury it is indeed a given that what you said about Narlins and Lousyanna is true … but the punk who got his ass kicked earned those kicks in the head .
He was running around , threatening and PUNCHING women right before he let his mouth overload his a** . The woman he was stalking at that club already had filed a restraining order on him , he punched her girlfriend … then proceeded outside where he jumped out of his truck talkin chit to the wrong people .
The fact that all he got was an attitude adjustment and a lesson in physics ( males over 200 pounds aren’t as easy to slap around as 120 pound women ) puts him in the LUCKY category as far as I am concerned . People have ended up dead as a hammer … for less …

Jujuan James and now Vidal. If you put the top 5 OL out of the state of Georgia, over the last four years, on the field at the same time you would have an All SEC offensive line. There are NO excuses for missing out on your home state talent. There is no secret to this. You have to win the SEC and contend for the national title. The objective for these guys is to be in the NFL and make a lot of money. Theus will be a starter his freshman year – barring injury. Avery Young is still a possibility but a long shot but win out and UGA could get some of these guys to change their mind.

@Crimson Crush, Thats not quite how the eyewitnesses describe the events of the night. The victim was drug from his truck. And beaten by several LSU players. Not mano e mano. The supposed restraining order was taken out several weeks after the altercation. The accusations of the victim hitting a girl( not women) has no validity or witness’s. If he did what your saying yes he should have been stopped. By one man,not 4. I think any one of those players could’ve done that without so much as a scratch. The fact remains that they will try and smear the victim and cover this up. Just like they did to the GSU player who was killed by the bouncers in Narlens. Just sayin……….
