Kurt Freitag, one of the state’s top college football prospects at tight end, may be close to making his college decision.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder from Buford High School has made official visits to two of his three finalists, Alabama and Florida. He will decide later this week about scheduling a recruiting trip to Florida State.
Freitag took his official visit to Alabama for the Arkansas game. Freitag’s teammate at Buford, linebacker Dillon Lee, is committed to Alabama, while another – offensive lineman Vadal Alexander – has the Crimson Tide as a finalist, along with LSU and Auburn.
“Alabama made it perfectly clear how much they want and need Kurt to be part of the team and school; he left with a very good impression of fitting in,” his mother said.
Freitag saw Alabama play again last weekend during his official visit to Florida, which he also enjoyed.

Not a great position of need for UGA, I understand, but offensive line sure is.
First Lee, and now Freitag appears headed to Tuscaloosa. Et tu, Vadal?

They all want to wear the crimson. Discipline, winning, go to class, and staying out of the police blog. Do those things and coach saban turns you into a man. Mess up and as he says you create your own exit…..When was the last time an Alabama player was in the headlines other than winning another fb game.?

RTR22, Bama does a very good job of covering things up.

Wrong, BG, Alabama does a very good job of:
1. recruiting ability AND character
2. setting clear expectations and holding kids accountable
3. not wasting time if a kid can’t follow the rules.
Oh yeah, I hear we’re pretty good on the field, too.
Given the off-season procession out of Athens this year, maybe CMR has decided to follow a similar path.

ROLL TIDE! Kurt is exactly what Alabama needs- intelligent, good character, and a tough football player! He will fit in perfectly and excel immensely under Nick Saban’s coaching/staff.. no doubt! He will be a great addition to the team.

I doubt Kurt will ever see the field at Alabama. He is not that good as a TE. He is better suited on defense, but will be a tweaner OLB/DE and I personally do not think he is big enough to play every down on defense in the SEC.

Want to know what is really funny. Buford people love to brag about their academics and will chew you up and spit you out if you dare question them as to why these athletes flock to Buford. They will tell you that it is because of their academics and not because of their athletic programs and yet their athletics, for the most part, flock to the weakest academic schools in the country. Kurt seen you play on TV. Personaly I think that you would be a much better line-backer.

@ATLSportsFan I beg to disagree! I think Freitag will see the field in his college career without a doubt.. Most seem to forget he is still only 17 and has much more to grow/learn/shape into! He will be the total package after all is said and done. Roll tide!

One of the joys of being an Alabama fan these days is that much of the mystery has been removed from recruiting. Given his eye for talent, if Nick Saban wants ‘em, we want them too.
