DE Josh Manley has Georgia Tech and Louisville as leaders

Louisville and Georgia Tech are the leaders for Josh Manley, the defensive end from Milton High School.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder will be one of the featured prospects in tonight’s “Thursday Night Football” at 7 p.m. It will be televised live on WSB-TV digital channel 2.2, with the replay shown on Channel 2 on Friday night at 1:05 a.m. You can also watch it at www.wsbtv.com

“I don’t have a clear-cut leader but I’m looking at Louisville and Georgia Tech as the top two right now,” Manley told the AJC. “Louisville is a good school with good coaches, and they are very much education first. I like that.

“It’s the same thing with Georgia Tech as Louisville. The coaches are great, and they are very upfront with me about everything.”

Manley is a lifelong Georgia Tech fan who has a Yellow Jackets No. 42 jersey in his closet.

“Georgia Tech was one of the first to offer. That was a while ago. I have not been to any games this year, sadly. I would love to go, but I work the sideline chains at my little brother’s football games on Saturdays.”

Milton coach Howie DeCristofaro on Manley: “He runs real well, he’s physical and he’s smart. When you’re recruiting at the collegiate level, this is the kind of character you’re looking for. He’s a great kid with great character. He’s got it all.”

OTHER PROSPECTS TO WATCH TONIGHT

  • Jimmy Meyer, Centennial QB: The 6-foot-4, 190-pound senior is committed to Harvard. “When you look at him and see him throw the ball, it’s pretty flawless,” Centennial coach Jeff Measor said. “I was a graduate assistant at Florida when Rex Grossman was QB. Some of the balls that come out of Jimmy’s hands remind me of watching Rex throw. It’s just a beautiful thing.” Backup Chase Rosenberg, a junior, is getting some looks from option-based teams.
  • Payton Barber, RB, Milton: The 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior who has early offers from Clemson and Central Florida is out with torn ligaments in his ankle.
  • Carl Lawson, DL, Milton: The 6-foot-3, 245-pound junior has no offers yet. “This is the truth, and I’ve coached some good ones … Carl is as good as anyone I’ve coached on the defensive line,” DeCristofaro said. “He is a man among boys. His first step and quickness are unbelievable. He’s the second-strongest kid on the team and he didn’t even work out with us the whole summer. He’s really, really good.”
  • Alex and Andrew Estes, DL, Centennial: The twin brothers are sophomores. Alex is 6-3 and 200 pounds, while Andrew stands at 6-1, 210. Their father played football at Texas Tech.

Yeah Louisville and “education first.” Huh…? Um, I’m sure they WANT to be all about getting an education, just like I WANT you to buy a Ferarri…problem is neither of us can provide what we’re hoping for you to have.

Good luck to the kid in whatever he decides. Anybody know how many defensive lineman GT is planning on taking this year? They already have Kallon, who is a beast for somebody only having 4 games under his belt, Gamble and Chungong while obviously pushing hard for Tomlinson. Just curious if anybody knows. Will be interesting if Hooker is at the game this weekend as the coaching staff is still pursueing him and he is a NC State commit.

Mr. Manley, that is very sharp and wonderful what you do for your younger brother, thats a young man with a lot of great family blessing and love. I am a very huge GT fan, but the respect goes to him for family , keep up the good work and I believe GT will also fill your education needs.

Why would you even think about Louisville ? Is Ball State or Memphis or Elon after him ? I know we will get him then.

Payton Barber, RB, Milton: The 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior who has early offers from Clemson and Central Florida is out with torn ligaments in his ankle.
Why did you list Payton as a player to watch tonight, knowing that he will not play tonight? Come on! Pay attention to what you are doing.

@Chuck Allison, thanks for your comment. It was because Mr. Barber is a high-profile prospect, and to explain why you wouldn’t see him on the field in this game. Thanks.

Marine have more CLASS………….Marines are the First to hit the beach. First to fire shots in anger. The MARINES are the FIRST to DIE in Battle. A MARINE calling FRIST on this crappy blog is Disrespecting the use of your name as MARINE. BUCK UP SAND FLEA and RACK TIGHT.

Dude, what the F are you talking about? The guy just wanted to be FIRST on the blog…so now all military personnel are banned from having a life outside of battle and playing in a fun silly game where you say first at the beginning of a blog? Freaking idiot!

Go on Marine, be first at anything you want to be first at. We thank you for your service and being the first to stand up and fight for our freedoms, even the freedom to be a total moron like UOAD above!

Both are good choices and I’m sure there are more to come, but staying home is priceless. Family is near if needed and they can easily attend games. And don’t forget the importance of periodic home cooked meals. That’s what I still miss the most about being so far from my hometown.

not a de. at least according to scout. also he has a 40 time around 5.3. dont think i want a de that slow…. so he has to be a dt prospect imo.

Mr Manley – Yea I don’t want to go to a play for a team that is LEADING THE COUNTRY IN TOTAL OFFENSE and the defensive coordinator knows how to put kids in the NFL……yea I don’t want to play for a coaching staff with OVER 200 YEARS of EXPERIENCE!!!!

Yea I don’t want a degree that all but guarantees you to be making six figures in only a few years after graduation or your NFL career is over…..

Naw, I’d rather go to ??
