UGA’s top football recruit will visit Notre Dame.
John Theus, the 5-star offensive tackle from Jacksonville, confirmed that he will take a recruiting trip to Notre Dame for the Oct. 22 game against Southern Cal.
“They understand that I am committed and I have been honest with them about my commitment; They know I am going to Georgia as long as Coach [Mark Richt] is there,” Theus told Chad Simmons of Scout.com.
Theus committed to UGA at Dawg Night prospect camp in July. His older brother, Nathan Theus, is a freshman long snapper on scholarship with the Bulldogs.
There have been rumors swirling around Theus about Notre Dame and Florida since he pledged to UGA. Theus called Richt to inform him. “Coach Richt was happy that I called to tell him about the visit, and he was happy that he did not have to lose any sleep over me visiting them.”
Within the last month, UGA has lost two commitments – Flowery Branch wide receiver CJ Curry switched from the Bulldogs to Oklahoma State and Goose Creek (S.C.) wide receiver Tramel Terry backed off his early pledge to the Bulldogs.

5-star OL John Theus committed to UGA in July (Special)
Here’s a breakdown of Theus by Chad Simmons, National Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com: “Georgia is getting one of the most college ready prospects in high school today. I truly believe that John could compete for playing time in Athens today. He is both physically and mentally ready to step onto a college football field … Theus is someone I have said for years has a very good shot at playing on Sundays. He has what you look for in a five-star prospect in this business.”

Theus is not dumb. He knows that CMR may not be the coach next year and is covering his bases just in case. If CMR is still the coach next year he will get an extension and Theus will go to Georgia.

Let the unwinding begin…. If you can’t run with the big Dawgs stay on the porch…. We want men that want to be Dawgs first !!!! And not prima Donna’s only using UGA as a stepping stone to the pros…. Compare and contrast Greene and Pollick to Stafford and Moreno…. The latter didn’t when squat not even one tie for the east championship !…. We have been rebuilding for three years and from the looks of it either way will be doing the same for the next three no matter what the coaching scenario might be…..

So UGA wins against two high school teams and what do you call the 4 wins that GT has???? Also, you DARE to mention the word NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?????? HAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAAHHAA GT will lose 4 games once their “real” schedule starts. (even if you can really call it that) GT is terrible and WILL LOSE to UGA AGAIN this year.

GT 4-0.
You are serious and that is what is sad. Exactly, what mighty college teams has Tech. played that would make you think they are headed for a national championship this year. I think the wine you are drinking is a tad bit tainted. Boise and SC would have used your team for canon fodder. When you play some good teams, if there are any on your schedule and you can actually beat them, then you can brag. You ran up the stats on poor teams. FSU, even with two loses would hand you your luinch pail back, and you haven’t beaten Clemson yet. Do you play VA. Tech. as I suspect they will probably expose your team as well. We get that you hate UGA as anybody would after having been beaten by that team 9 out of 10 times in the last decade. But to come onto a blog and state that tech. is on it’s way to a national championship, based on the record so far, indicates that your hatred of UGA has blinded you to the fact that Tech. hasn’t done anything yet against quality opponents. Tech. should be able to beat FCS teams and the fact that you had to keep pouring it on to pad your statisitcs against them, show your team is in real need of an ego boost. Nobody outside of Techg. is the least bit impressed by your stats against an FCS team. I guess when you are a fan of Tech. you have to invent delusions. If it helps you feel better about yourself, dream on,little man. Perhaps though, you might want to wait until your team plays an opponent worthy of being in at least the top 100 in the game Between your FCS opponents and your low rated ACC win, what exactly have you done to elevate you to the NC consideration?

Maybe Theus can get Pyke to join him on his visit to Notre Dame. Probably not. Pyke’s probably penciled in for a weekend visit to Northeastern (not Northwestern, Northeastern). Hopefully Theus and Pyke de-commit and this opens the door for studs like Avery Young, Vadal Alexander, Davin Tomlinson, and possibly Bama commit, Brandon Greene. The way the Richt/Bobo braintrust evaluate offensive line talent, it’s no wonder Uga is mediocre. MEMO TO RICHT/BOOBOO: Stop arming your competiton with in state offensive line talent that comes back and kicks your butt. ARE YOU BLIND?? ( See Rokevious Watkins. South Carolina’s 6′5″ 345 lb. I bleieve he said that he will stay committed to UGA as long as CMR is there. Maybe the players know something the average fan on these blogs doesn’t. Maybe the players actually gravitate towards a coach they feel is straight forward and fair to them. Just maybe, the adversity that a lot of so called UGA fans have confronted the team with has drawn them closer together. Maybe this team is a family also because of the attitude of CMR. Now I would question that if he said as long as Bobo is still there.
UGA is coming right along with an extremely young but gifted bunch of athletes on the team. I am not always a patient person but I am becoming one and I think fans of UGA need to see how this team developes over this year. So, far, to be honest, they have exceeded my expectations as I figured this year would be all about rebuilding. Young men like Crowell, mitchell and a few others have adapted and matured pretty rapidly this year, and I think will only get better as the year goes on.

Hey Dawg4life … remember when UGA was ranked #1 in the nation in the early polls and GT beat them at UGA at the end of the year…. Were you a high school team?
GT would have beaten USC easily – Navy who runs the same offense as GT but with much less talent gave them all they could handle.
Wake up – UGA has the EASIEST CONFERENCE SCHEDULE RATING IN THE SEC and will still struggle to get above .500. What is Murray’s winning percentage against ranked teams? What is Murray’s winning percentage against teams with winning records?
Are you mental to say that Ole Miss is 3 times the team that UNC is????? Do you realize that UNC has 10 projected NFL players on its roster now and how many does Ole Miss have? ONE. Stop drinking the kool-aid son.
UGA is starting over with a different coach next year – if the kid is smart, he would look elsewhere….then again if the kid was smart, he is not a good fit for UGA anyway.

1. We are young
2. Our top recruits are going out of state
3. To many players are tranferring
4. Our coach is a DEAD MAN WALKING
5. We lost to several teams that were in the top 15 in the country
6. We need to stop changing uniforms
7. We need to stop with all of the gimmicks such as uniforms, and BLACKOUTS
8. It’s BOBO’S fault

Updating ex-Tide players who transferred
Posted on September 23, 2011 by Michael Casagrande| 2 Comments
There were eight players on the 2010 Alabama roster who transferred out before this fall. Here’s a quick update on how most are doing at their new football homes:
WR Keiwone Malone (Memphis): Receiving a special exemption to skip the transfer redshirt, the Memphis native has four receptions, but a grand total of two receiving yards. Malone had three catches Saturday against Austin Peay for zero yards.
DB B.J. Scott (South Alabama): Once a five-star recruit, the wide receiver turned defensive back is fitting in with his hometown program. He has 20 tackles — the second most on the team and has one forced fumble. The third-year program lost its first game last week at North Carolina State, 35-13
RB Demetrius Goode (North Alabama): The senior has yet to play in the four UNA games after suffering a hamstring injury.
DB Robby Green (California University of Pennsylvania):After sitting out the 2010 season in Tuscaloosa on a NCAA-ordered suspension, the junior ranks fifth on the team with 17 tackles including one sack. He had 12 stops in last week’s win over East Stroudsburg.
DL Darrington Sentimore (Mississippi Gulf Community College): Suspended for spring practices, the Louisiana native has 15 tackles in three games at the JUCO level. Click here for a story from the Mississippi Press where he talks about Nick Saban’s advice post-Alabama. There are also reports from Knoxville saying Sentimore made an official visit to Tennessee two weeks ago.
DL Brandon Moore (East Mississippi Community College): The Montgomery product didn’t move too far from Tuscaloosa (geographically speaking) where he has 16 tackles include two for losses. Moore also recorded three quarterback hurries.
I couldn’t find information on linebacker Petey Smith who reportedly transferred to Holmes Community College. His name didn’t appear on the roster on the school’s website. The other transfer was running back Corey Grant who is sitting out this season at Auburn.

Theus is covering his bases – everyone needs a backup plan. If Richt isn’t at UGA next year he won’t be there either. I am hoping that UGA wins the remainder of their games because that is what it will take to keep Mark Bobo needs to go. The defense has shown signs of improvement but the offense still makes a lot of mistakes Their two losses were caused by errors on the offense and break downs on special teams. While the offense ran up yards against the Game Clucks, turnovers killed them.

NB- I really don’t think Richt’s record against SC is that bad. This is the 1st time that SC has beaten UGA in back to back yrs. in a long time, DC id also better than they used to be, & UGA has also not been as good. That’s usually a lose game, but UGA normally wins it…besides that. UGA has struggled w/ FL, but so has every other coach they’ve had except Dooley, & even when he used to beat them so much…FL wasn’t nearly the power they have been more recently for the most part during this era.

GT 4-0, The Dawgs were defeated very closely by 2 top 10 teams this year and the other 2 games were UGA victories. Just because you have a 4-0 record against nobody teams doesn’t make you a contender. If we go 5-7, 6-6 or 7-5, I believe Richt will do the right thing to unite the fanbase and resign.
Theus is smart to consider other schools given the uncertainty.
If Richt and UGA go anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2, McGarity won’t fire him. Money won’t allow it and he is too well thought of among the Board and especially Adams.

Your SEC wins are over the bottom feeders. You have beaten richt once. UGA has won 2 SEC titles in 10 years under Richt and is 9-1 versus Tech. Remains to be seen if things are changing. Back to mediocrity is a bit of a stretch for the results over the past ten years don’t you think?
When you have faced better SEC teams, like us and LSU, you lose.
SEC 3 dominant years? I guess that is why the last 5 BCS champions are from the SEC?
I can make a case that we should have played for the title in 2002 and 2005 and that Auburn should have played for the title in 2004. That would be 8 in a row if you are counting. The SEC isn’t going anywhere and is only getting stronger.

Seriously Tech, you best team FSU has now lost back to back. Clemson may be the real deal but we in the SEC are still questioning if Auburn is really any good this year. That leave VT. THey have not played anyone. They will probably loose to Clemson. Now ask yourself this. DO you think Clemson or Tech could beat Alabama, LSU, or Florida. I am pretty sure the answer is no. Do you think they would have close hard games against UGA, USC, Ark, Miss St., or Tenn. If you think any of those would be a gimmie for an ACC team you are delusional. Any ACC school claiming the SEC is weak, tell me who the strong conference is? Big 10, Pac, Big 12. Our three best will kill their three best. The ACC. Miami, FSU, Duke, NC, NCS. I congratulate GT on their start, but I don’t think you have played anyone yet, but looking at your schedule your only two games are Clemson and Georgia. Congratulations on getting a BCS game by beating the 7th best team in the SEC as your crown jewel. I only hope you have to play Bama or LSU in your BCS game so you can see what it feels like even for just 60 minutes to have to play real football. Georgia is struggling, but at least we play football.

Sure, GT is 4-0. And who have they beaten?
Western Carolina is 1-2, with it’s lone win against D-II Mars Hill. WC lost to GT 63-21 and to Georgia Southern, 52-20, which in some folk’s logic would say that Tech’s defense is on the same level as the Eagles. I don’t subscribe to that theory, but you know many people do.
Tech beat an 0-3 Middle Tennessee, and Kansas, whose wins have been over McNeese State and Northern Illinois. Tech’s only significant win to date this season is over North Carolina, 3-1.
UGA opened with two Top-20 ranked teams and almost pulled an upset of South Carolina, and Boise State is the real deal.
Overall, I don’t think Tech will end up as a Top-10 team. Top-20, perhaps, but there is a lot more football to be played.

forget that stupid bell ringing video uga uses as a recruiting tool…”the pantsuit of mediocrity” video would be a great tool for recruiting the type of students that end up in athens…you could feature a uga grad in his pantsuit working as a third shift manager at a convenience store (business degree)..a female uga grad in her pantsuit doing inventory with a hand held scanner at a large grocery store (i.t. degree), and another grad in the pantsuit washing the windows at a nationally recognized medical clinic (pre-med studies)…effective and representative of the typical uga grad…truth in advertising sells…

I see all., I see the future. A vision is coming to me about Isaiah Crowell.
1. He will be successful on the field and receive wide praise for his abilities.
2. The Bulldog Nation will annoint him as their dreadlocked savior.
3. Richt and staff will coddle him rather than train him up.
4. He will start believing his hype and breaking the rules.
5. Mark Richt will make excuses to keep him in the lineup.
6. He will get arrested and get a token suspension.
7. The distraction will hurt the team causing more losses.
8. The coaches will try gimmicks to distract the fans.
9. The once-star player will drop out and finally meet his destiny — moving furniture.
Or maybe this is a vision of the past. Crowell, Ealey, King. The visions intermingle.

DawginLex,
I know for a fact that Richt would have found a way to choke in 2002. Most likely, he would have put Shockley in for a few plays to keep him happy, and he’d do something to kill your chances of winning, just like he did by throwing a crucial interception in the Florida game that year. UGA would have won that game if it had just stuck with Greene and Richt hadn’t had to give Shockley (who was a Freshman) time so that he wouldn’t carry out threats to transfer. And UGA very well could have won a National Championship if it had won that game. But then again, Richt would have found a way to blow it just like he did against Florida.

Win a few and lose a few. We have Aaron Murray and what has he done for UGA?? UT got De Rick Rogers and what has he really done for them??
CMR has his job for almost one more week, or possibly longer. He faces MSU this Saturday in ATHENS and the Alumni EXPECT to punish MSU for last year. Washed UP Ealey cost UGA last year’s game with MSU. He is gone TGAGH. Period.
This is after all ………….MSU and IF UGA has DROPPED below them and KY and SC for sure and now shares the crummy SEC basement with Vandy, then he will be fired. Whose fault is this? UM, ah, that would be CMR for not firing Martinez SOONER and REPLACING HIM with an excellent D corordinator and for allowing inexperienced Mike Bobo to be the O coordinator with on the job training. THAT and the resulting last 2.3 years of failures is why CMR might lose his job come Saturday night.

We ALWAYS get wide outs, TEs and LBs and Corners/Safeties, QBs but never do we land say 8, 9 or 10 O linemen in one class and THAT IS WHY UGA is now third rate.
THIS IS WHY CMR needs to go ………………look at Ole Miss and their horrifc D line destroying the pocket for A Murray time and time again. Watch MSU and Florida and UT and AU and GT ………………… collapse his pocket. NO O LINE HULKS.
Richt should be fired and do not talk to me about Tanner Strickland and T. Sturdivant and B. Benedict QUITTING and etc. ALL SCHOOLS have that problem and THAT IS WHY THEY ALWAYS SIGN hulks. Period, end of story.

Our defense got better and better last year as the players learned the 3-4. They are doing great this year and without two of their best. Remember they only gave up 17 points to South Carolina, Spurrier know his team was out played.
The problem with Georgia is CMR and Bobo admitting that Aaron Murray is not the leader they were hoping for. Now the question is he getting any better. You can’t ignore the fact that we are 2- 9 against ranked teams in two years. That tells a lot about Murray’s leadership ability. I like Murray as much as any as a person but THE QUARTERBACK POSITION IS THE NUMBER ONE LEADERSHIP POSITION ON THE TEAM AND HAS BEEN OUR BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT.

Theus seems to love two teams Notre Dame and Georgia. He loves CMR and if he is not going to be at Georgia then because of our lack of leadership at QB Theus see’s no reason to not consider his number one team as a young kid growing up , Notre Dame. I would be willing to bet he is Catholic, which go’s a long way with why it is so important to him and his family. Now if he thought Georgia had a chance to go 14-0 the next few years it probably wouldn’t matter who the coach is.
In the end I think Theus sticks with the SEC and Georgia mainly because Notre Dame is more lost than Georgia is right now and Georgia is starting to really look good in certain areas.

There is no way you have ever attended class at Georgia if you can make a statement like that. The average grade point average of incoming freshmen is 3.75 to 3.8. I’m sure it is a lot lower for football players but it is that way at Notre Dame too. The year my son started at Georgia they accepted a little over 4000 incoming freshmen and rejected 10,000. It is not easy to get in at Georgia as a freshman.
When I graduated from Georgia in the seventy’s it wasn’t easy then either. I will admit that there is so much extra curricular activities you have to be very disciplined at Georgia or you want make it. .
