Dalvin Tomlinson’s coach says rumors about Alabama are ‘totally false’

Dalvin prediction?

Henry County defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson has Alabama and Georgia Tech as his co-leaders, followed by Florida, Clemson and Indiana. “You can put Georgia in there, too … and Stanford,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier said.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder earned rave reviews for his head-to-head performance last Friday against Sandy Creek defensive lineman Quinteze Williams, who is committed to Florida. Tomlinson started at offensive tackle and defensive end in the loss.

“Dalvin is having a really good season and he really handled No. 48 (Williams) from an offensive standpoint,” Rozier said. “No. 48 is a good player, but he wasn’t as much of a factor as he usually is that night. It wasn’t even close, but they won the game, and I’m sure that’s the most important thing for them.”

Tomlinson’s coach addressed the rumors that the top prospect wanted to commit to Alabama but the Crimson Tide weren’t ready to accept it yet because they were looking at other defensive ends.

“That’s totally false,” Rozier said. “I know Coach Saban well enough that he’s the No. 1 guy personally that he wants at defensive end. That’s [the rumors] other teams putting that information out there.”

Tomlinson has a 3.8 GPA and is a two-time state champion in wrestling’s heavyweight division.

I HOPE HE DOES NOT COMMIT TO BAMA, IF HE GOES TO UGA HE IS IN A D-LINE HEAVY CLASS. IF HE GOES TO TECH HE HAS A GOOD CHANCE TO SEE PLAY TIME EARLY IN HIS CAREER.

The UGA recruiting class is going to suffer until the hierarchy figures out if they are going to off CMR an extension or not. No player wants to commit to a school when a guy on has a year or two left on his deal. And don’t think our rivals are using this against us because they are.

Yeah, that is true tech Fan but, he will be playing in front a non sellout crowd except when they play Georgia. Why would he go to Tech over Alabama or UGA? I don’t think so.

OK tech fan you just made the case on why he would pick Alabama. Come on, Saban or Johnson? Have you seen their defense lately and how many are in the pros? And you don’t think they take into consideration on how many people they play in front of? Please child!

Mike, I also heard that he wrestles and has only lost 1 match in 3 years. I heard that that loss came as a result of a disqualification from an illegal body slam that he delivered to his opponent. Do you have any info on that? If that’s true, I would love to see that type of power in red and black.

HE WILL PLAY FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP COACH AT A CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM.

HE WILL NOT GO TO UGA BECAUSE RICHT WILL LIKELY GET FIRED THIS YEAR. PLUS GEORGIA IS NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM NOR DO THEY HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP COACH.

THE FACTS: GEORGIA IS 16-15 IN ITS LAST 31 GAMES.
UGA IS 1-9 AGAINST RANKED TEAMS
UGA IS 4-7 IN ITS LAST 11 SEC GAMES
UGA HAS NOT BEEN TO THE SEC TITLE GAME IN SIX YEARS.
UGA HAS NOT WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 31 YEARS.

IT IS TIME FOR RICHT TO GO.
SEE THE COACHES HOT SEAT DOT COM.

I PREDICT HE PLAYS FOR SABAN AND ALABAMA!

UGAg isn’t even finishing second for Dalvin. Take off your red and black glasses and realize that if he doesn’t go to Bama he is going to GT. There is no way he goes to U(sic)GA.

Whether you pick Bama or GT, good luck Dalvin!

Good luck for you, Dalvin, where ever you choose. You have to choose what is right for you. This choice isn’t for your family, your coach, your friends, or your fans. You need to go where you can be the best Dalvin that you can be. Only you know where that is.

Perfect new breed of offensive lineman. Smart and tough, with a defensive mentality. The very qualities Richt/Bobo DON’T LOOK FOR in an offensive lineman! It doesn’t matter anyway, they’ve already landed the Pyke kid out of the smallest classification of private schools in Maryland.! Tomlinson’s grades are just as good as Pyke’s and he plays much, much tougher competition. yet Richt/Bobo go after Pyke instead. I wonder what it could be? Pitiful. Also, they’re both crazy to put their trust in Aaron”Hair Product”Murray. The kid craves attention. Good or bad. As long as the spotlight’s on him. Those late sacks in the Boise game, AND the late fumble vs. Carolina are proof. Games are being played at Uga and it isn’t just football. Better watch that kid.

Sounds like a tough decision. Would love to see him at UGA, that probally won’t happen. But I wouldn’t rule out Clemson. Beautiful area, great football atmosphere, and you gotta love Dabo’s enthusiasm. If they keep rolling alot of young kids will start giving them the nod. Kids are fickle win it comes to winning (even some adults).

Nobody but Dalvin knows where he is going to pick and it is a tough decision for a kid no matter what. By the way Mr. Rozier were you there for the recruiting pitch to the other 20 DEs Saban offered? With your personal knowledge do you really believe Saban puts academics before football? I would love to know what Saban has told Jordan Jenkins? I guess he is his number #2.

Michael Carvell

@Ramblin Man, Jordan Jenkins is being recruited by Alabama to play outside linebacker, not defensive end. UGA and Florida are also recruiting Jenkins at LB, while Auburn and Tennessee project him at DE.

If Mike Rozier has Dalvin’s best interest in mind he will encourage him to go to GT over Alabama.

You can get to the league like 2% of NCAA college football players and play 3.2 years at the league minimum on average from any college in the country…but in addition to that opportunity, at Georgia Tech you also get a meaningful degree that will earn you $5-$6 million, or more, over your work career in a city with loads of employment possibilities from Fortune 500 companies engaged with Georgia Tech.

Its a no brainer.

Tired of ignorant fans and rivals spouting Georgia’s recent stats the past two years to make the case to fire CMR or recruit a high school player. Any coach who coaches long enough will have rough patches. Sometimes things get worse before they get better. Bear Bryant had back to back six win years in 69 and 70. Across those two years he won only five SEC games and his teams were dominated by teams who were ranked. After that he went on a tear. See below…

Alabama started the 1970s much as it ended the 1960s, going 6-5-1 after going 6-5 the year before. Southern Cal traveled to Birmingham for the opener and pounded the Tide 42-21, racking up 484 yards rushing.[1] Auburn and LSU beat Alabama again, and Tennessee beat the Tide for the fourth year in a row. In the Tennessee game, quarterback Scott Hunter threw five interceptions and the team threw eight, both all-time Alabama records.[2]

Thanks for the info Mr. Carvell. My point is when you offer that many DEs with rankings from #1 through #24 then I believe Saban told more than 1 he was thier #1 Target. Not that Dalvin is not deserving of it. I also in no way believe academics come first to Saban, or many other coaches for that matter.
