One of the top uncommitted seniors in the state is AJC Super 11 member Josh Harvey-Clemons of Lowndes High School.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder will take official visits to UGA, Florida, LSU and Louisville. JHC is projected to play safety in college, but is also getting looks at outside linebacker.

“The dude is a freak … he’s the best I’ve played against in the last three years,” said Trent Thompson, quarterback of No. 1-ranked McEachern High School.

“I think he will play safety in college, if they don’t put him somewhere on offense. I don’t think he’s thick enough to play linebacker. Wherever he goes, he’s going to be outstanding.

“I still can’t believe the interception he had against me. He jumped so high, and kept getting higher and higher, and came down with it. The dude is a freak.”

Here’s McEachern coach Kyle Hockman on JHC: “He’s a heck of an athlete – big, tall and rangy. They use him a lot of different ways at Lowndes I don’t know what he’s going to play in college because they use him everywhere at Lowndes.

“At the strong safety position, he’s unreal. He’s involved in everything and he’s all over the field. Defensively, Lowndes uses him to take the best WR and he pretty much controls the middle of the field.”

Don’t know how he’s leaning, but I hope UGA is high on his list.

If he’s as good as stated in QB, Trent Thompson’s comments, I hope we’re recruiting him, and he signs with Georgia. .. Go Dawgs!

In this State, Dawgs would get a top 20 class without a coach. I don’t worry about recruiting. I’m worried about how they are coached and play once there.

JHC is the type of ball-hawking player we need desperately to restore the Junkyard to the Dawgs defense! Hopefully he will stay in state & don the silver britches!

Anybody been on a Tech blog this week…………And they talk about our expectations. I don’t believe some of the things I’ve read over there. Just for fun, just like throwing meat into a pool of Gators, say something negative about their team and you get attacked about 20 times in 20 seconds. It’s pretty cool.

JHC, is being recruited by Grantham himself. Grantham wants him on his defense in the worse way. This is a kid who I believe will see valuable time on the field as soon as he steps on campus. Grantham is recruiting JHC to play kind of hybrid stong safety/rush outside linebacker.

I’m holding my breath for our entire program. My best thoughts are that we don’t lose again this year, and all is well, forgiven and the program is on the rise as Richt say’s. But, we all know Richt is out of mulligans, so thus, I’m holding my breath.

At 6′5 he either has to play tight end or LB. He is simply too tall to play safety on the next level. He may though. 6′3 and 6′4 safeties can be found. He will probably shift between LB AND SS in College and shift permanently to LB if he reaches the pros. Hell, if he has good ball skills, he can play some WR as well.

I know first hand FSU is out. His grandad told me personally. He also said if Georgia has a good year that’s his likely destination with Florida a close second. I didn’t know LSU was an option but he did mention Louisville as a close look but did not like their distance from home.

I want to say I really appreciate the compliments and kind words about the blog. It makes it so much more enjoyable to do when it’s being received as it has been. I hope I’ll be able to keep it up.

Why can’t we have this kind of harmony on here or the UGA Blog?

This kid will be an FSU commit. He spent the entire summer hanging out at FSU and has bonded with coaches and players. He is going through the motions and taking advantage of the free trips and why not. His heart lies with FSU.

Of all the schools out there – LSU would be a concern as their players love the staff and the DC is awesome.
Florida would be next as it is more convenient for family and friends to watch him play. Will Muschamp brings fire and passion and Gators will win the SEC East this year.

UGA is no longer relevent in the SEC East and with the uncertainty of this staff’s employment – not an option for any elite player.

Elite players want to go to teams that are successful and poised to compete for championships. That’s how they keep the ball rolling. If you slip – and fall – it can really impact recruiting – heck, look at FSU. Coach Bowden should have retired years prior – and we fell back – struggled – but new life has pumped enthusiam back into the program – and our recruiting has been incredible. UGA is now in similar boat – if they can turn the ship this year – they will snap a few recruits late in the season – but if they fumble away more losses – look out. Change will be good for UGA if this happens. Do not feel sorry for the coaches – they make huge money and the business they are in is high risk. Personally – would like to see UGA beat Florida this year – I just no longer believe in UGA’s football program.

@ Seminole Pride – agree with some of your post @10:37.

Programs go in cycles – heck – Bear Bryant had back to back 6 win seasons in 69 & 70 – was close to being run out of Tuscaloosa.

Hopefully – Richt is building UGA back up – I think we will win 8 or 9 games this year and it will be enough improvement to position him for 2012 season. I think last year was just a bad frigging year but trust he has done the right things to get us moving back up the ladder.

But to your point – if the program stuggles big the remainder of the season – this will impact recruiting. He still might be awarded 2012 – but then he is really on the hot seat.. That is not good for the program or the staff – so maybe new leadership and a breath of freshair and new enthusiam is needed.

As Valdosta is only about an hour’s drive away, FSU has been a recent pipeline with both Valdosta HS and Lowndes High.

I just hope CTG IS recruiting JHC hard!

UGA’s coaching uncertainty and our win / loss record really does seem to be hurting us right now.

Unless a recruit has been life-time Georgia fan and just wants to play for UGA regardless, long-term stability of the coaching staff and a winning record is often more important to these young men than is the opportunity for playing time to showcase their talent.

IMO, in these young men’s mind, there might be just too much instability within the program right now to commit to Georgia.

Just hope all this gets sorted out soon where these talented in-state players can see they will have some stability in their career in choosing to sign to play for UGA.

Go Dawgs!

@ Seminole Pride, his grandfather told me personally FSU was out because he did not like their graduation rate. I specifically asked about FSU becuase of the Lowndes pipeline (there are at least 4 former Lowndes players on the roster). I really think Florida may get him but IF Georgia turns things around I think they may be his favorite.

JB- The only time I respond to negativity on our Tech blog is when people try to slam our program with idiotic statements such as “you guys are cheaters” or “anybody could put up those stats against that schedule”. I am not claiming that you are one of them. I just know that there are many times that Tech haters try to smear our program on our blog with nonsense just as many times there are idiot UGA haters that try to do the same on yours. I like to have good discussion with any fan on our blog that is actually posting on the subject at hand. I am happy with the way we have started the year and I hope we can keep it up. It’s a long season and many things can happen. Best of luck to you guys until the Sat after Turkey Day…

slydog – nice comeback.

Yes, I have the gift of prophecy and I know who your wife will be seeing next week! Just kidding!

Regarding JHC – he stated in interviews that he made multiple visits to FSU and became close to the program and players. These are his words – not mine. There are a lot of coaches that want him.

I am very confident it will be FSU. Just like I am confident that Keith Marshall will be a UGA commit if UGA can get it together and get some wins. Marshall has visited UGA several times and even brought his best friend down as well. This kid has major interest in UGA – but is waiting to see if UGA is turning the corner. I am thinking that if UGA had beaten South Carolina – and did not look so hapless, out played and out coached in the Boise game – but at least competed even if losing – you may have a few more recruits would have committed to UGA by now – or at least UGA would still be in the running for. UGA is a wait and see proposition for elite recruits – why commit to a program when the staff is on the hot seat – negative blogs all over – and the program goes 10-3, 8-5, 6-7, and starts 0-2!

FSU is only in it b/c of McPherson. He’s been pushing players to FSU for a while now. Clemons isn’t buying into it. He’s actually UGA’s to lose. Grantham is spinning the same spiel in utilizing Clemons as he plans to use Ogletree.

HE WILL PLAY FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP COACH LIKE NICK SABAN OR LES MILES. HE WILL GO TO A CHAMPIONSHIP SCHOOL LIKE LSU OR ALABAMA. THEY DON’T “DREAM” CHAMPIONSHIPS AT LSU OR ALABAMA—-THEY DO IT!

Tdawg – glad I could bring you some humor this fine Friday.

I never said we were back – but if you read my comments you will see that I clearly stated FSU was struggling and that the coaching change brought us new life and enthusiam which has had a huge impact on recruiting. I wrote these things in comparing to UGA – as it is my thought that UGA is going through a similar situation. If Richt can’t improve this year – next year will be more hot seat talk, etc and this is not healthy for your program. A change in leadership will bring UGA new life and entusiam – just like what has happened at FSU. I hope it does not come to that as I like Richt – but at the end of the day – Georgia should be up there in teh conversation with Florida, Alabama and LSU – not Mississippi State and South Carolina.

I do believe FSU has turned the corner and we are well on our way to being relevent again.

As for UGA – 10-3, 8-5, 6-7 and 0-2 start this year tells you all you need to know. Like I said, I really hope UGA beats Florida this year – I am hoping that Richt gets UGA back on track and this was merely a down cycle that many programs due to staff changes and players not working out.

One last thing TDawg – Yes, FSU has not lived up to past performances in recent years – when you are spoiled with winning 9, 10, 11 games a year and being relevent – it is hard to take 8-5 and 7-6 – which is where FSU has lived the last half decade. Last year – we did win 10 games – beating Florida and South Carolina last year. How did Georgia do against Florida and South Carolina last year? OUCH!!!!
