Woodward Academy defensive tackle Jordan Watkins will announce between UGA and Stanford around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

UGA appears to be the school to beat for Watkins, but he declined to reveal any hints in advance of his decision.

The 6-foot-5, 268-pound Watkins started off the recruiting process with 35 early offers before finally setting on UGA and Stanford.

Watkins has a 3.72 GPA and wants to major in Broadcast Journalism or Communications.

Watkins has visited UGA’s campus numerous times, and made an unofficial visit to Stanford last July. Watkins said Georgia is recruiting him to play defensive end, although he could end up at defensive tackle.

If a recruit chooses UGA over Stanford then you have to assume that his parents are doing a pretty poor job helping him with his decision.

i hope he has a wide frame because 268 lbs wont cut it at DT. We have 2 DT right now at 350 lbs and they have done nothing in 2 games…

HEY DAWG FANS:

THAT THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE IN SUPPORT OF OUR COACH. THE NAME IS:

KEEP MARK RICHT

It has been posted in several media outlets that the MAJORITY of UGA fans still support Mark Richt. Not suprisingly, you have not read this ON AJC. Check the Augusta Chronicle or Online Athens to verify what I say.

Also NOT surprising is and I could have told you this a YEAR AGO, is that the fans that want Richt to go the most are the YOUNGEST fans and even 55% of them STILL SUPPORT RICHT!

So what we have is primarily young, internet savvy and on the internet constantly, young, immature and ignorant fans that are pushing to get our coach fired!

Now, most all of us fans that are not ignorant or not old, know what we have in Richt and we know that there are going to be down years. We went almost 20 years since 1982 before Richt brought us an SEC Championship! Thes young fans get a couple and now they cant handle a losing season! Try 20 seasons without an SEC Championship you little twits!

SO…..I want to tell all of you intelligent or not wet-behind the ears teenage and fans under 25 who are on the internet doing things you would not do if you were not ignorant or been around awhile….

THAT THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE IN SUPPORT OF OUR COACH. ITS NAME IS:

KEEP MARK RICHT

Lets fight to keep our coach for us and for these young fans who simply do not know what they are doing…..

Come to UGA Jordan. The next 5 years are going to be great ones at UGA! Dont listen to all the hype in the media about Richt. He is NOT going anywhere. Us real fans and donors and boosters will not let that happen by a bunch of kids who dont know the great coach they have. Be secure in your decision to come to UGA and play in the SEC and for the UGA powerhouse that iwll be in Athens the next 5 years at least!

Jordan, we have a TON of new starters this year, plus a bunch of injuries. Go to a game between the hedges. If that does not jazz you with 92,000 rowdy fans, nothing will! Also, UGA has a great communications program.. I would know!

Welcome to the DAWG nation Mr. Watkins! Another Dream team being assembled.

A 10-2 DAWGS team will play a 10-2 Notre Dame team in a BCS bowl this year. The story lines will be epic.

Go DAWGS!

Did yall see me Sunday? I told yall I was going to be great! 442 yards passing, I sure made Steve Smith look good plus I scored a TD also. It don’t matter that we lost the game, what matters is the tons of money I make and how great I look. Don’t yall wish you were me?

c’om man…….

Notre Dame will most likely be 0-3 after this weekend (vs. Michigan State). But Georgia will be 1-2.

This kid is most likely a Dawg. But my kid would take the Stanford offer if I had anything to do with it (and it would have nothing to do with football).

P.S. Dee Finley is an idiot. Yet another college football player who just doesn’t understand that you need to respect the law. As Muschamp says, “Football has to be important to you.” Obviously, it isn’t for Mr. Finley at Florida. Well….now…..neither is his college education.

Ron…….

Certainly a better QB at Stanford……but he will not be there next year. Then what? Certainly not a top 25 team anymore. Georgia will be. I also think Georgia might have the edge with the women thing, too. But you are right on the education and weather thing.

Our DTs didn’t have much opportunity to do anything against Boise (DTs aren’t supposed to pressure QBs) and they did pretty dang good against SC (although he got 180 yards, Lattimore didn’t run all over us like he did last year). As for this young man, hope we get him, but Stanford is one heck of a school. As long as he can deal with being really far from home, it may be the best choice.

“there is no better school in the whole world for journalism than UGA”?  Put the crack pipe down and get serious.  Stanford is a better academic school in every respect than UGA.  If you simply want a journalism major, there are other stronger schools, such as Columbia and Northwestern:  http://education-portal.com/top_10_journalism_schools.html

If he goes to uga, he will be another tackle misser who doesn’t get coached up. That’s unless there’s a coaching change, which is probable at this point.

Be very suprised if this kid didn’t choose Athens. Very very suprised.

Adding him would add a very nice piece to an already very nice D-line recruting class

Tough Choice for the kid. Can’t go wrong either way. Hope he’s a DAWG

Let’s see, if you want mudslides, earthquakes, lunatic liberals and plastic women then by all means go to Stanford.

If you want a school that administers the Peabody Award for broadcasting, is in the best football conference and has more beautiful and intelligent women than Obama has critcs then UGA is the choice. I’d make a pitch for Bama since he seems like a great prospect but it appears he has methodically narrowed his choices.

He would be a nice addition for sure, but hopefully, he will go where he is the most comfortable. UGA would seem to be that school since, it is his home, and I think, for his educational goals, UGA would be a good fit.
Best of luck to the young man on wherever he decides to go. He is a big kid right now, and he is still going to grow, so I am sure he could be a good DT, at the college level.

The Boise State game demonstrated that weighing 330 pounds does not mean that you are a better lineman than one who weighs 280. Georgia linemen have reached the point of diminishing returns in terms of weight and fitness.

Jordan stay at home but let it be your decision. Good seeing you at the game the other day. Be acrosss the United States is hard on your parents to see you and in todays football world you go to school almost year round so hard to get home. Great that you know a couple of kids out there but it is common knowledge that most kid that travel that far away end up wishing they were closer to family and friends. It a big decision so I wish you well and I know your parents are happy for you becasue you have worked hard to get where you are. Hope to be talking with you and your parents soon. Good Luck!!!!!!!
