Lassiter High School safety Kene Orjiokie is the hottest college football prospect in Georgia.
The senior transfer from California landed his third football scholarship in five days on Wednesday night. N.C. State offered, following in the footsteps of Georgia Tech and Ole Miss a few days ago.
“I talked to N.C. State, and I’m very appreciative of the offer,” Orjioke told the AJC. “They asked me what position would I like to play, safety or linebacker? I told them I’ll play anywhere that helps the team win. Yes sir, I’m fine with any position.”
Which college will be next? UGA, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, Mississippi State and East Carolina have all expressed interest. Orjioke will be making an unofficial visit to Auburn on Saturday.
Kene, which is pronounced “Kenny”, is the stuff of recruiting legends.
He was virtually unknown to college scouts after moving from California to Georgia over the summer.
Kene is a native of Nigeria and has lived in Australia and Chicago, among other places. He’s 6-foot-4 and 217 pounds, has nearly a 40-inch vertical jump, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He’s a senior in high school, but one of the youngest students in his grade — celebrating his 16th birthday last June.
He starts at safety for Lassiter, and earned the trio of offers after coaches sent out film from only one game — Lassiter’s season-opening win over Brookwood, the defending state champions in Georgia’s largest classification.
Kene has a 3.2 GPA and wants to study Economics.
We hear Kene can rip phonebooks in half with his bare hands. For more on Georgia’s hottest college football prospect, go here

this guy is definitely a linebacker, he seems to lack the coverage skills to be a safety beu looks real good at linebacker.

He can’t cover me and I’m 55 years old. Too slow to the ball and doesn’t hit hard , either. Take a pass on this one, better for GT …not what we need.

I love how our resident internet football gurus can look at one video and know more about a player than the college coaches that are offering him scholarships.
I don’t have any idea what kind of prospect this kid is, but the coaches that are willing to risk one of their precious 25 scholarships on him certainly do know.

Great storyline – hope this kid succeeds wherever he ends up. (And, based on size alone, you gotta figure he grows into an LB in college. 217 now = 240 in college.)

From what I have come across he played rec in cali so that explains why he is not a hard hitting tackler at this stage in his high school career. Considering that he runs a 4.5 he can be taught coverage by the right coach. The young man has physical gift that with the right coaching could lead to a truely successful college career. Think about it a 16 year senior. He could red shirt and, be starting at 19 and still be growing
