And then there were three.

Jordan Watkins, one of the state’s top college football prospects at defensive tackle, started off the recruiting process with 35 schools. The Woodward Academy football product narrowed it all the way down to three on Wednesday.

Which schools are the finalists? It’s UGA, Florida and Stanford.

Scratched off the shortlist are Miami, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

“It’s those three because they are all great schools athletically and academically,” Watkins told the AJC. “That helped them stand out among the top eight. Of course, with some of the other schools dealing with NCAA allegations (Miami), that made it a little easier to get to three.”

UGA fans have been vocal about feeling pretty confident about their chances of landing Watkins. What does Watkins think about that? “They should feel like that because they are in my top three. I started out with 35 schools and now I’m at three, so that’s something definitely for them to be happy about. But it’s really going to be a tough decision between these three because they are all great schools.”

The 6-foot-5, 268-pound Watkins said he plans to take official visits to all three schools within the next three months, but he will wait until after his senior season to announce his college decision. “I’m focused on my high school team now and trying to win a state championship,” Watkins said. “I won’t have time to think about and decide on a college until the season is over.”

Why wouldn’t he go to Georgia? Muschamp is a sell-out, and Gators are in rebuilding mode, that run is over when Tebow and Meyer left. And Stanford? Harbaugh left because he took that program as far as he could take it. He would be wise to be a Bulldog!

To all you folks that post on these blogs ,pleases remember that more often that not that these young men read these responses to what has been written. I would sincerely hope that UGA people would display some class. You know that your mothers raised ya’ll better than that.

Stanford has a beautiful campus, idylic weather and a bunch of smart, good looking people. As much as I loved going to UGA, I would have had a hard time turning down a full ride to Stanford (not that I was ever offered one). I hope he will stay home and be a Damn Good Dawg but better a Cardinal than a Gayturd.

Look at th eschools. Obviously with the Stanford inclusion in the trio academics are of importance to the young man. So with that being said UF and UGA fans alike should be impressed.

IF CMR has a bad year(8-5orworse) who do u thank has the best chance to be next HC. My guess inthis order 1.Kirby Smart 2.Butch Davis 3.Dereck Dooley…

I don’t think any changes are coming but it certainly wouldn’t be Kirby Smart , he burned every bridge he had. My guess would be Boise State coach, I think his name is Peterson.

Amazing how much success Stanford has down here.
___________________________________________________________

The Reason that Stanford & Notre Dame is having that kind of success down here is because GT went out and hired a HC with a gimmicky system and turned GT FB into “Service Academy FB”.

Had GT hired a “CMR Clone” that runs a pro-style offense or similar, then all those top Recruits going to Stanford or ND or to border schools like Tenn, Clemson, USCe, Auburn, etc. would be staying home and playing at GT, GT’s “recruiting strength” is that uga cannot sign all of the elite HS prospects in Ga., yet by hiring a HC that runs a gimmicky Offense that is only used at Service Academies and at the lower levels of CFB, then GT throws that “advantage” out the door.

This also affects Defensive prospects also, because if you spend most of your practice time going against a gimmicky offense during the week you’ll get shredded by an Aaron Murray or a Russell Wilson on Game days.

My alma mater loves to wax poetic about how we’re smarter than everyone else in CFB, yet we never seem to execute anything very smartly.

Bragging about how many folks in the NASA space program have GT connections has no correlation on how efficiently or how intelligently you run your FB Program.

We at GT continue to do stupid and inefficient things and then we expect “genius results”.

This genius leadership at GT has given us a 15-37 Record vs. uga since the late 50s, and now we’re getting more of the same with Coach “I’ve-got-bigger-fish-to-fry”.

And before anyone asks, YES, I woke up pizzed-off this morning, this happens a lot when you are a GT Alum/Fan.

When Georgia was looking for a defensive coordinator they turned to Kirby to get them out of that jam. Someone that had ties and loyalty to the program. Even though it was a lateral move Smart would have moved straight to the front of the line to replace CMR when he left. Kirby Smart showed how loyal he was then, to us by staying with Alabama . Being an Alumni meant nothing to him He want get another chance.
Me personally I’m glad he decided to stay at Alabama because I think we ended up with a great defensive coordinator in Grantham. Anyway, in my opinion Muschamp was way ahead of Smart as coordinators. For me Muschamp was head coach material with Smart peeking out as a coordinator. Alabama’s success is because of Saban not Smart. Saban is an old defensive guy and will get the credit for Alabama success on defense , not Smart.

Keep in mind UGA is expanding it’s Journalism department. Grady College has already announced it’s newest addition, Sports Journalism, which is Watkins main interest. As a former Grady College of Journalism student, the experience was very rewarding.

Mr. Watkins, go ahead and commit to UGA…Closer to home for your family to see. Great journalism school, in which you are interested. Keep the same, great colors as your high school. Beautiful campus and facilities. And none better for the social life. You want to be a well rounded person, don’t you?

Noticed Bama has 2 coaches that are directly involved with the U. Miami scandal.
And Bamalama even named one director of their football operations! So their program is being run by CHEATERS! No surprise here, but gives the scum sucking bamards a reality check as to why their recruiting invasion is happening.

Bamalama might get the NCAA death penalty this time around….that investigation is coming soon and you Bamards know it’s just a matter of time. Ya’ll are just hoping to weasel a championship out of your cheating before it comes.
BTW, you stunk also last year. What happened to that saban dynasty? He’s as beatable as your dead redneck hero coach. But saban is due to bolt soon anyways. He’s never at one place too long. Go back to mike shula or the stripper coach.

I really like this guy. He is obviously intelligent and no not because he can go to Stanford but because Auburn was not among his finalists! See intelligent players outside of the sad state of Alabama are smart enough to not consider Auburn.

I hope the choice will be between UGA and Stanford and that his heart is at UGA and to play for a man like Richt and a NFL defensive coordinator who can prepare him very well and into a very high draft choice.
