F-Bombs and Facebook insults before Geno Smith picks Alabama or Auburn

Geno prediction?

As one of the nation’s most heavily-recruited defensive backs, Geno Smith has heard plenty of trash-talking from opposing wide receivers over the years.

But surely nothing could have prepared the St. Pius cornerback for the verbal warfare between Auburn and Alabama fans on his Facebook page on Tuesday night.

Poor Geno, all he did was simply post “Tomorrow is the day!” on Facebook wall

It was in advance of Smith’s college decision between hated archrivals Auburn and Alabama scheduled for shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Within three hours, Smith had 128 replies to his four-word post, including a series of F-Bombs and insults traded between Auburn and Alabama fans, and probably some fans of other schools. A sampling of comments (in no order):

  • “yall [bleepers] are dumb… lets just all agree AU sucks and be done with it”
  • “Yea….. That’s we spanked you last year! WDE 28-27!”
  • “Roll tide!! Saben will treat u well”
  • “^^^whos saben?”
  • “are you kidding me??? bama pays every player and I think everyone in the country knew ingram’s heisman was bought and paid for. He was not even close to the best player or even RB in college football. If you can’t admit Cam was the best to ever play the game you are just another delusional updyke bama fan. Keep living in your ignorant world. At Auburn we are FAMILY, not a semi-pro all about football school. We’ll see who the NCAA hammers first. A “school” that is on triple probation, or a University that has already been cleared of any wrong doing over and over. Enjoy your season.”
AJC Super 11 pick Geno Smith, DB from St. Pius, will pick between hated archrivals Alabama and Auburn (AJC)

AJC Super 11 pick Geno Smith, DB from St. Pius, will pick between hated archrivals Alabama and Auburn (AJC)

  • that AU family crap is stupid… Just saying every football team in america is like a family…. that just something Chizik came up with when yall sucked… i mean come on…. RTR”
  • “but geno im sorry for putting all this dumb [bleep] on your page… Good luck with your decision and may the better school win but your gonna be great no matter where you go….. Roll Tide”
  • “childen should be in bed by now”
  • “yeah and 60 year old [bleeps] should not be on facebook”

To Geno’s credit, he stayed above the fray, declining to jump into the chest-pounding argument that really had nothing to do with him, other than he will pick between the Auburn and Alabama among his 40 early scholarship offers.

We asked Smith about his two finalists:

  • Alabama: “Both schools are very similar with good head coaches, and lots of coaching experience with the defensive backs. I just love the environment down there, with both Alabama and Auburn in general. They love football down there in Alabama. It’s important. I wouldn’t mind playing football at a place where they take football so seriously. Not that other schools don’t, but down there it’s kind of like heaven.”
  • Auburn: “It’s the same and everything with Auburn, with Coach Chizik and his defensive backs. Trooper Taylor was my recruiter and he has had a big impact. He’s one of the best at what he does. Like Alabama, Auburn has a great environment down there. I took an unofficial visit down there and had the chance to hang out with some of the players and talk with them. It was a good experience.”
  • How on Earth do you pick between Alabama and Auburn? “It’s a very hard decision to make,” Smith said. “It will come down to the place where I feel most comfortable, and the place I want to be the next 4-5 years.”

At this point, what is the likelihood Bama or Auburn will not get hammered by the NCAA in the near future? Auburn is almost a certaintly, Bama probably lesser of two evils really

I am shocked that the comments were so rude and insulting, and I’m just glad that never happens here.

Oh the irony. It was Smith that mentioned UGA fans and their ‘blogging’ as a turn off to UGA. Welcome to reality Mr. Smith.

Bama Stan did you not hear that us Georgians are moving up in the world! We now have the Internet! Not quite as cosmopolitan as Alabama but we’re trying!

He’s not going to UGA but he still is one H^*l of a corner. I wonder what happened between last years dawgnight and, today to turn this kid off from the program. It appears that bama and, auburn have the worst fans. I mean when was the last time a UGA fan killed someones tree?

@Nash, Ray Drew and Geno Smith were best friends, and they vowed to play together at Georgia. But Georgia took it for granted, didn’t recruit him as hard as the two redneck schools to the west during the spring, and lost all momentum. And yes, his parents got mad at some comments on the DawgVent. But that’s going to be nothing like he’s going to hear from fans of the “losing” school today, which I think will be Auburn. He’s a great player and maybe he will change his mind about the Dawgs before Feb

Let him go to Bama or Auburn. Although I would Love to see him in Red and Black but hey we can’t get them all. I would love to have Yuri Wright. He’s rated higher and has UGA on his radar. Sign him and all this will be forgotten.

And what kind of school do you think UGA is? Sure isn’t Princeton.

Good, since Athens made him so squeamish, maybe he will pull a last minute switcharoo and choose the 3rd school…hahaha. A fat chance of that happening. In fact, he should announce via Facebook or twitter and hold a short interview afterwards, no pomp or ceremony needed. It’s a kid and some of these people need to get a freakin life. He can do nothing for you three weeks from now. As much as Americans talk about morality, I bet some of these folks would offer up a daughter or two just to get him to sign on the dotted line. Real Talk.

You do realize you are typing on the AJC Blog right? Does Tuscaloosa have their own nationally recognized sports page? I didn’t think so. If football ceased to exist in the entire state of Georgia, I believe we have a little bit more to live for and do. Alabama only has amateur sports. Chances are, you live and work in GA. Quit hating!!!

If he got insulted by the blog comments, he will need to toughen up, becuase he will face the same comments from the losing school of the two and he if ever messes up on the field for one those two, he will see them as well.
It is no surprise to read the above comments from Alabama or Auburn fans, as they are always on the AJC blogs saying crap about UGA. Almost reminds one of the UGA and TECH. Wars you see on here as well.
Good luck young man, wherever you land. Hope you have a successful career.

PiusDad #14…I would expect more from a Pius Dad than calling BAMA and AU redneck schools. I go to quite a few Pius games each year (one of the former coaches is a good friend of mine) and I never run into anything but classy people there. Glad to see they are not all perfect. Lets hope that Geno shows more class throughout the rest of the process than some SPX parents in the blog do!

For all you so called dawg fans or whatever school you pull for..Maybe you will realize now that these kids and their parents do take in what is said at games and when you boo your team or coaches the kids and parents, many see this as booing the kids…Yes it happens at all schools, but probably the dawgs had more than their share last year and the year before with the results on the field…Yes we all have the right to express our emotions at the games as we choose, but keep in mind that alot of these recruits remember the atmoshpere on their recruiting visit…Just saying…Can’t say all recruits worry about that, but from what I hear, it played a big part in Geno’s decision to eliminate the dawgs….Not saying our record didn’t have anything to do with it, but the info I have heard says other…go dawgs and good luck to you Geno…We do have a very good backup plan in the works…We will be fine on NSD…
