Keithon Redding (left) with Columbia HS coach Mario Allen (AJC)
Keithon Redding, a wide receiver from Columbia High School, said he committed to Tennessee on Friday afternoon.
“I called the coaches and told them ‘I want to be a Vol,’” Redding told the AJC. “I like Tennessee because of the coaches and because it’s not too far away from home.”
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder said he was also considering Central Florida and Alabama. He said he decided to commit to Tennessee after attending Florida State’s camp.
“I had been wanting to commit to Tennessee for a while,” Redding said. “I had been talking to Florida State, and they wanted me to come down to camp so they could see me in person. I talked to the wide receivers coach, and he sounded like he was really interested in me. But I wasn’t sure if they had offered. It was kind of confusing.”
Redding said he has been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.5 seconds.

unless some kid signs with GT why does this have to show up on the GT page of the AJC? I don’t care, please take your face and column to a generic college football page where all others can read about it. I for one do not care who Tn signs. They are inbred morons on a hilltop

Some of you guys do not read or study the recruiting process at UGA! UGA can not sign everybody in the nation like some other SEC schools do. UGA is filling their position needs. UGA is in great shape at WR for 2012; Lonnie Outlaw is not chicken change, he is the real deal, 6′7″ 200 lbs. C.J. Curry-6′2″ 185 lbs (and will grow more)!

I’m with “ya hoo” above. If this is going to be on the GT page, at least say that the kid was recruited by GT and we lost him to UT. I didn’t know that until “lewis 52″ so kindly shared it with us.

There is not a better WR in the state of Georgia this year. Good pickup UT. How this kid had 19 offers and not one from his home state school is clueless.

I agree Lakedawg some complain about not signing someone without looking at the roster or who’s already commited, wouldn’t be surprised if Outlaw was the only one we sign unless an elite one commits, this kid is good but there looks to be better available and if not linemen are a bigger need.

Congrads to Mr. Redding and, his family he was an interesting prospect that I assumed would have landed at Tech but, Coach PJ can’t get them all right. Columbia does have a good looking DE that could stay in state and, perform at a high level on the flats if Coach PJ is interested

Tennessee Tom. no need to come on here and talk smack. this is the first time i have ventured off gvx, and not seen the typical Tennessee inbread, redneck sleep with your sister stuff. these fans have pretty much been complementary of UT. NO WONDER we have so many trolls on our site. no offense to trolls under any bridge in Alabama. hehe just kidding. we have some good pickups this week, so just be happy.
