Jason Croom has named three leaders among his 16 football scholarship offers — Tennessee, Miami and Mississippi State.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver from Norcross High School said he may add two more. Croom would like for UGA to be one of the two.
“I like Georgia; they run a good offense and it’s close to home,” Croom told the AJC. Croom said one of his friends is Flowery Branch WR CJ Curry, who has already committed to UGA. (Note: UGA has two commitments at WR for its 2012 recruiting class, Curry and Georgia Military junior college’s Lonnie Outlaw)
“If Georgia offered me and I went there, it would be with someone I know. I would have CJ there, and we would push each other to be better.”
Croom had the opportunity to perform in front of UGA coach Mark Richt at the UGA 7-on-7 tournament a couple of weeks ago. He has had limited contact with Georgia Tech. Croom is touring schools this summer, and plans to visit Florida State within the next week. He hopes to announce his college decision somewhere near or shortly after the start of his senior year of high school ball.
“I like all of my leaders for the same reasons,” Croom said. “They’ve got good coaches, good football programs, and need some wide receivers to come in and play. They all stress education, which is very important to my decision.”
UPDATE: Croom said he was offered by Michigan on Friday.
