Auburn WR coach Trooper Taylor gave the President a "chest bump" during last week's visit to the White House. Will Trooper be celebrating again after JaQuay Williams announces?

(Breaking: UGA will have to wait until July to see if a Dream Team recruit qualifies go here)

Auburn, the reigning BCS champion, is winning some big-time battles in college football recruiting.

Auburn landed the No. 1 RB in Alabama on Tuesday, and appears to have inside position with Georgia’s No. 1 prospect at WR on Wednesday.

JaQuay Williams, a wide receiver from Sandy Creek High School, will announce his college decision after 4 p.m. today. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Williams told the AJC that he had narrowed down to Auburn and Ohio State, among his 20 offers, on Sunday. (click on story link)

Ohio State was the childhood favorite of Williams, but the Buckeyes may have lost momentum with the resignation of coach Jim Tressel. Meanwhile, Williams took an unofficial visit to Auburn last weekend, and has developed a close friendship with Auburn assistant Trooper Taylor, the guy who gave the President a “chest bump” during the team’s visit to the White House last week.

Prediction for Sandy Creek WR JaQuay Williams later today?

“Auburn has one of the best wide receiver coaches in the country [with Taylor],” Williams told the AJC on Sunday. “It’s a great tradition down there, and I like the offense. They’ve really been on a hot streak with recruiting.”

Auburn already has two Georgia commitments for 2012 with Creekside DB Josh Holsey and Callaway TE Ricky Parks.

On Tuesday, Auburn secured a commitment from TJ Yeldon, who is ranked as the No. 1 RB in Alabama, according to Scout.com. The 6-2, 190-pound Yeldon picked Auburn over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Florida State and Oregon.

OSU = AU

Does it really matter. Both programs will be heading in the same direction after the NCAA has their final say.

UGA fans are really the biggest cry babies in all of college football. But I would be too if every one of my rivals was winning championships. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Trooper Taylor and Auburn have done nothing wrong. AJ Greene on the other hand…..didn’t he break NCAA rules? UGA fans are priceless. Isn’t it time for you to go and trash your campus again?

Unfortunately, with ESPN and the net, there is enough press on every college to catch a kid’s attention. Heck this has been common since I was at UGA (’80-’85). We even had a name for ‘em – Blue Bellies. Georgia kids jumping the line to Auburn. If Auburn had to recruit only in Alabama they couldn’t find the athletes, much less ones that could read. And, if UGA had to do the same, we’d never have had Knowshon. The question we should be asking is why UGA wasn’t on this kid’s radar.

To my knowledge, UGA was never after this kid. Anyone remember Markeith Ambles? Everyone was upset when we didn’t offer…and look how that has turned out.

When your program is left behind, mired in mediocrity and watching the big boys come in and just take whomever they want, you cling to mantras and just keep saying them over, and over, and over, and over again. You pray that this fruitless exercise will somehow make it so….but it doesn’t, and you will continue to bask in your mediocrity. For simple fool…I mean dog…your ignorance is representative of the entire puppy nation. If you would cease chanting your “Auburn pays players” mantra, you would know that we already have the highest rated QB recruits in the country in Frazier and Smith. If Williams signs with AU, he will be in the best position he could possibly dream of as a wide receiver. Now…you little doggies go back to your ceaseless crying. It’s fun to read and pass around to the other SEC schools who also laugh at you as you continue to fall further, and further, and further behind.

We know we know, UGA is so deep in those two positions that they didn’t need the #1 receiver in Georgia or the #1 running back from Alabama.

Got any more TE rejects? We are looking for another QB…

The real question here is, does this kid or anyone in his family not watch ESPN, or have access to a computer? Both these programs face MAJOR penalties VERY SOON. AU fans you know when the fed trial happens and all that evidence is becomes public knowledge, YOU ARE DONE. Deny all you want but your goose is cooked. OSU will be hit harder than USC because even with all that’s public up there, there’s still a lot more to come out. Someone close to this kid need to inform him on what’s about to happen so that he doesn’t jump on one of these sinking ships

Auburn and its boosters are currently in a court hearing with the Feds and we’ll know the harshness of their penalty very soon. I’ve heard its going to be as close to a modern day death penalty as we’ve seen. So I guess my question would be why would anyone want to attend a school that is about to go under? Cam Newton = T. Pryor. Both QB’s set their schools back 5 years. AU National Title…..See ya! !

Frankly, rather than worrying about what other schools are doing / not doing in recruiting, we have to look at ourselves. We can’t control other schools. But we CAN control what we do. How is it, that we always seemed (in the last 5 or so years) to have a top 5-10 recruiting class, but we couldn’t get to the “big game”. How is it that Florida, Alabama, LSU and yes…even Auburn…can. Heck, even South Carolina (who??) is knocking on the door. And now, how is it that these same schools can come into our state and pull away our top talent? It seems clear to me…until and unless we can show that we belong with this group, the best will want to go the “perceived” best. Blast me if you want to, but it all rests at the feet of NOT the other schools, but of our own…and the buck stops with Richt.

Seems like all the Georgia fans have the “inside” scoop on the upcoming status of the Auburn football program. I’m wondering, if commenters on an Atlanta paper know SO much about what’s coming for Auburn, why haven’t any of their coaches left (save Tracy Rocker – NFL Titans job) when they’ve been offered jobs at Univ. of Texas, Dallas Cowboys, and Vanderbilt HC job???? You’d think THEY might know if something was up……wouldn’t you?

Bottom line, the GA fans are butthurt. They can’t stand the fact that Auburn won a BCS title before their GREAT and WONDERFUL program.

Perhaps you all should concentrate on how to beat Florida once in every 10 tries….

Best of luck to this kid! This kid appears to be a stud at his position, therefore I would have to say he was on Richt’s radar. There is no sense in dumping a ton of resources on a player that knows he wants to play elsewhere. Get the kids that want to be DAWGS and this ship will right itself. Keep up the great job UGA coaches, I like the momentum.

This is fun. 2 main themes here, and of course neither of them have any basis. Auburn is dying soon because of the ongoing Federal trials. He isn’t any good/is too dumb to make college because Georgia didn’t offer him.

Wake up, Dawg fans. He received offers from Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, Ohio State, South Carolina, Michigan, Clemson, among MANY more, including Vanderbilt. Yeah – Vandy ALWAYS offers kids with no hope of making it into Georgia. Always.

As for the impending sanctions, there are no ongoing or impending Federal trials that have ANYTHING to do with Auburn football, recruiting or anything like that. The fact is, the SEC, NCAA, FBI and every journalist in North America have been digging for 18 months now and haven’t found a shred of evidence that Auburn or Cam Newton did anything wrong. Not a single shred. It’s time to let it go. Auburn won the 2010 BCS Title. It’s done. Cam Newton won the Heisman. That’s over.

Georgia is a mid-tier team in the weaker of the two SEC divisions. Coming off a loss to Central Florida (13-9? Really?) and facing a major uphill climb in the first two games of the season and a coach who’s on the way out – I think you should stop whining about why other teams keep passing you. Look out – Kentucky has been to a bowl game 5 years in a row and they’re knocking on the door.

I am sorry that this four-star athlete did not receive an offer from Georgia. But don’t knock him with baseless claims because of that.

NCAA is hilarious!

June 15th, 2011
9:27 am

The NCAA is hilarious. In the same year they had to strip USC’s national championship for using an ineligible player they awarded a national championship to a team with an ineligible player because that team got screwed out of a chance to play for a national title in 2004. And, yes, Mr. Newton was ineligible. The NCAA guidelines were clear until the NCAA muddied the waters this year that if someone close to a recruit is asking for money that strips the recruit of their eligibility. (Don’t take my word, ask Mr. Van Pelt from ESPN.) We know for a fact that Cam’s daddy asked MSU for money. I’m sure that plan was scrapped so that Auburn could get Cam for free. (Wink) Urban Meyer was no dummy. He knew that he could have won a national championship with Cam Newton after Tebow left and he just let Newton walk away? The only way he lets Newton go is if he had to let him go. The NCAA has been played for a fool by the likes of USC, Ohio State, and Auburn.

Comments here are rather funny. First off, this guy has offers from around 20 schools, including Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. So much for the grades issue. LSU, Clemson, and so forth have their hat in the ring as well. A quick search on Rivals will verify that information.

Secondly, those of you that have somehow been duped into thinking the trial of legislators being bribed by gamblers has something to do with Auburn are too gullible to walk around without a caretaker. That trial has nothing to do with Auburn. The investigative phase of that trial was completed last August. The “FBI will get you” fairy tale is just that, a fairy tale that some blogger put online to see how many dupes would take the bait. It appears there are more out there than I would have thought.

I hope I’m not being premature in saying welcome to the Auburn family, JaQuay Williams! You’ll have the best WR coach in the country teaching you the position.

Trooper Taylor just got a raise to $425, 000 a year and he’s worth every bit of it.

Best of luck for the young man wherever he decides to go.
