[UPDATE: UGA offered Henry County DE Dalvin Tomlinson (6-3, 270) on Friday afternoon. Tomlinson was offered earlier in the day by Florida and ... Harvard]
One of Georgia’s most-heavily recruited wide receivers was offered by Georgia Tech on Friday, according to his high school coach.
Columbia High School’s Keithon Redding said Georgia Tech was offer No. 19.
“I was waiting to see how long it was going to take them; Georgia Tech called me this morning and said they wanted to extend an offer,” Columbia coach Mario Allen told the AJC.”Georgia Tech likes Keithon because they want a kid who can stretch the field vertically with speed, who is tough and physical, who runs good routes and who is a local kid.”
The 6-foot, 190-pound Redding said he was surprised with the news from his coach. “I didn’t think that Georgia Tech would offer me so early. I’ve been there for Junior Day. Georgia Tech was one of favorite schools growing up.”
When asked about his current leaders, Redding listed Central Florida, Alabama, Penn State, UGA and Florida State.
Wait a minute: UGA hasn’t offered Redding. “No, Georgia hasn’t offered Keithon or [Columbia running back Kenno Loyal]. I’m kind of shocked about that. I don’t understand why Georgia hasn’t offered Keithon but I’m pretty sure they will at some point.”
Redding said he may commit by late summer.

Don’t worry Keithon. When you get to 20 offers, Mark Richt will invite you to summer camp to try out for a Georgia offer. Hang in there, son!

Yeah seriously RambleOn, Calvin was a higher pick in the draft than AJ and your boy Stafford is the one throwing to him. GT receivers, if productive in the option, are perfect NFL wide receivers. They come already trained for downfield blocking which is around 80% (4 out of 5 plays for you dawg fans) of what NFL receivers do. I understand Calvin wasn’t an option product, but Bay Bay very much was. That made him the first WR picked in last years draft, even over Dez Bryant

By some of the comments I can tell that people havent seen this kid play. He might be the most electric player in the state. Just check him out on youtube. The Columbia Eagles should do very well this year. They have about 7 or 8 D-1 caliber players. Included in those 7 or 8 players is RB Kenno Loyal. If you dont know him check him out on youtube as well.

Dillon Lee, Holsey, etc etc etc … Honestly, when a homestate kid lists Georgia in his top 5 and doesn’t have a Georgia offer but has 19 other offers ……. THEN someone from Georgia needs to get their tail over to that high school ASAP

why would so many kids want to go to the same school (uga) when most probably won’t play. uga has their personal favorites. this kid most likely isn’t one of them. he could be another DREW HILL at g.t.

Tech can’t get WRs. If there are some that would go, they probably wouldn’t qualify academically.

Sealing the corner is not downfield blocking.
Given Bay Bay is a great receiver…he wasn’t recruited by PJ, and I feel certain he wouldn’t have been at Tech if he had been.

Bay Bay’s other options were Duke, Indiana and Louisville, he wasnt highly recruited .. sealing the corner wasn’t even half of what he did in the option. Quarterback end around and B-back dive all required downfield blocking after breaking through a hole. Nesbit and Dwyer owed a lot of touchdowns in 2009 to him

I hope we do offer Loyal and Redding but it could be to late like it seems to always is with Richt there is a major problem with the way Richt recruits and he has taken a lot of heat for it with offering these kids to late .

GT needs WRs that can block well and stretch the field. While their offense might not produce as many receptions as others, the big productive #1 and #2 WRs will get good stats. The’ll be tough and hard working, exactly what the NFL wants in its receivers.

GT Jason…you are an idiot if you think the distribution of run to pass in the NFL is 80-20. Even teams like the Colts, Saints and Packers ran the ball at least 40% of the time in 2010.

If Redding has 19 offers, he won`t be signing with GT. He will sign with a team that incorporates passing into its offense.

4.68 40 and 6′ does not turn heads. Maybe he is the best route runner in the state, but he needs to go to camp to show that. Camping also shows the staff that you are seriously considering that school. Not too much to ask for a full ride.

@EK2 recently saw Redding at a camp this kid is not 6′ he is more like 6′2 he runs a 4.4 and dominated the camp. Do the math 19 offers which includes Alabama,PSU, and OLE MISS.

Get off my back, we get top five classes with plenty of 5 star recruits every year so just calm down.
I know every year several get kicked out of school and some don’t even get admitted, but the one’s that stay turn out to be top NFL picks and we get 6 or 7 win’s out of them, with bowl games in Shrevport and Nashville, Heck we almost beat Central Florida! So in your face haters!
