USC’s Lane Kiffin worried about behavior of former Henry County WR Markeith Ambles

Where is Markeith? (USC SID)

Where is Markeith? (USC SID)

Former Henry County (Ga.) High School football star Markeith Ambles skipped USC’s practice on Saturday for unknown reasons.

“He wasn’t here this morning,” USC coach Lane Kiffin told ESPNLosAngeles. “It went on as normal, so we’ll figure it out.”

Ambles originally committed to Tennessee, and then followed Kiffin to USC, signing with the Trojans in 2010. It has been a tumultuous road ever since.

Here’s more background from ESPNLosAngeles:

[Ambles] was punished earlier in the week for arriving late to a mandatory team weightlifting session and was not allowed to practice on Thursday, instead running repeatedly around Howard Jones Field during the Trojans’ practice.

He had previously been suspended in October and, shortly after his reinstatement two weeks later, left the team in November and went home to suburban Atlanta for several weeks over the Christmas break before meeting with Kiffin and deciding to rejoin the team in mid-January.

Kiffin also told the website he was worried about the behavior of Ambles: “You’d like to see guys continue to mature, like some of the other freshmen.”

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Ambles appeared in four games as a freshman, catching 1 pass for 3 yards.

I see why he was not recruited by UGA. He’s a real diva. Too much drama. Perfect fit for Lane Kiffin and his crew.

If this kid has trouble playing for Kiffin then he is just about out of college football. Even if he manages to hang with the team, this will be the last you hear of him in the sports pages.

Man, that is rich. Kiffan worried about somebody else’s behaviour. I guess that kid figured if the coach can pull off all the crap he does, he had a green light. I guess Kiffin’s coaching idea is, “Do as I say, not as I do”.

This guy was kicked out of high school and then transferred to Henry County. Kiffin is the same guy who recruiting a different kid who raped his sister to play there. No other schools were even looking at him. I guess all he cares about is winning regardless of if it brings shame to his team. In other words, Kiffin is classy.

Pardon me, I meant to say that Markeith was expelled, not suspended, for hitting a teacher. Nice.

Is this no suprise? Kiffin couldnt coach his dog to potty outside muchless coach a program. He’s arrogant, self centered, a liar and cares only for himself. The people at USC will get bored of this coaches antics and finally fire him one day.
Everywhere he goes theres drama, recruiting violations. When the last class graduates from the Pete Carroll Era things will be really bad and its a shame to what used to be a great program in california. He has no allegiance to any program or obides by any contract.
He done the same thing that the Head Coach at Michigan did Rodriguez i believe and you see what happened to him. If i were being recruited by Kiffin it would be a definite “no thanks” because you may lose your job while im playing there and i’d have to get used to a new coach.
Same as Auburn and some others that’ll probably be put on probation for violations. I wish him no luck in anything he does in the future after the way he did the Tennessee fans. He’s a problem child from the word go.

Ambles sound very immature which puts him and Boy Kiffin on the same level.

Ambles needs to transfer to a team with a coach who he can respect, if he can find any takers. Glad it won’t be UGA. Maby he would be a good fit at Auburn and hopefully he would be able to look up to his receivers coach because Chizik is atleast as dirty as Boy kiffin. I bet Chizik is already on the phone with an offer, $$$.$$.

Yeah, I remember all the negative talk when UGA didn’t offer this guy. There are a few others out there that the Dogs didn’t offer, and I suspect there was something in the academics or character that warned them off.

I don’t like it when any young man screws up perhaps the best opportunity he has to make something of himself. But as far as his (or any other USC player’s) actions being a negative to the Trojans and to Lame Kiffin, I say keeping piling it on! Kiffin deserves every bad situation that comes his way. I hope one day he’s relegated to living in a single-wide trailer and driving the truck that picks up range balls in order to make a living…

Hamilton still has his job because his boss, Chancellor Jimmy Cheek, is an educator, not a business man, and is too proud (or blind) to admit that he’s made multiple mistakes in continuing to support him. And all of us outside the education field know how poor a job educators have traditionally done in evaluating the performance of their brethren.

I am glad to see these undereducated over hyped “studs” act the same way when they leave Georgia as they do at Tech and UGA. It starts in the high schools that cheat on the test scores, moves up the ladder till some coach somewhere has to deal with an athlete that has never been discipled in his life. Apparently there are places in this world not like Georgia. Until the rest of the country comes down to our level we will not have great success with our present programs.

The president of UT should be fired for allowing the AD to hire Kiffin and the Pearl deal as well.

It’s so sad to see college footbal ruined by folks like Kiffin and the ghetto twins at Auburn but it’s just a reflection of where our society is headed folks. Denial is not a plan.

Kiffin can’t coach yet he spanked UGA and clueless Saint Richt? hmmmmm….What does that say about Saint Richt?

Kiffin at least showed the ability that he could take a mediocre team like Tennessee and win. Dooley on the other hand…..Tennessee will be fighting Vandy and Tennessee for the SEC East cellar soon enough…..

Why Not?

It was a well know fact that the kid was for sale and was going to take the best offer and has an entire posse of folks who have guided him through the process. Ed O made sure he was taken care of while at Tennesseee and once the decision was made to bolt to USC Ambles was funded to make the move with Kiffin and Ed O.

What you see now is a kid who had great High School talent but it has not transistioned at the next level due to the lack of hard work and belief of entitlement.

Everyone knows the NCAA is not going let the behavior of Kiffin, USC, Ed O and others go unpunished and the sooner these kids get the point that it WILL catch up with the sooner the many many bonus benefits are slowly or gradually ended.

I wouldn’t take any kid that thinks he has to have a press conference to announce the school he is going to attend. Nor woul i have a kid that has to have more thanone cap to put on when he announces his school of choice. When they do these things they are defining their character. What a mess we have with our young athletes.

In over 30 years of coaching in Ga, I had never heard an entire coaching staff make such negative comments about a player as talented as Ambles. All the HCHS coaches were glad to get rid of him. Anyone who knew anything about him understood why Coach Richt never recruited him.

Ambles has talent but if cause trouble don’t show up for meetings if its a continuous problem then maybe he should be kicked of the team if you keep giving this many chances it will go on an on look what happened to Garcia at SC it a good thing Richt did not get Ambles just because he has talent you have to be a good student as well .

It always amazes me how some football fans can take a story about a loser such as Lane Kiffen and turn it into an anti-Richt rant. When it comes to unethical behavior, no one except for Kiffen’s teacher (Pete Carroll) can hold a candle to this guy. At least with Richt, most sane people don’t question his morals or ethics.

GT, You are dead on in your assessment of why this happens to athletes from Ga. Other states have this problem as well, but as dad used to say about my report card, ‘I don’t care about the other ones, just you’. Well, it’s our state that concerns me, and one only has to read the posts on this blog to see exactly what it is you write about.
Ambles will be on the news page, not the sports page….that’s a true statement.
