Thanks for the info on West Georgia recruiting. This is a program on the rise. West Georgia has a beautiful new 9,500 seat stadium and a marvelous overall athletic complex. Wish more people would take the short drive west to Carrollton to see what’s going on with UGW athletics.

I know this kid and he is a class act. I wish my beloved GT would have given him a scholarship. What he doesn’t have in size he makes up for in grit. He’ll do West Georgia proud.

Good to see UWG has a nice recruiting class. Coaches Dickey, Allen and the rest of the staff there have that program moving in the right direction.

The list is a very long one.
1. Students go home on the weekends (suitcase college)
2. Nothing to do in the town.
3. Horrible sewer semll at nights.
4. Football uniforms are comical.
5. Moe’s is a luxury restaurant.
6. People ride tractors to go from point A to point B.
7. You have to leave the city to go do something. Either go to Newnan or Douglasville. Exciting!
I could go on and on. I will say the University is a great school to go to. But, lack of stuff outside of the school is a big turnoff.

DC – You must have flunked out of West Georgia and that is why you are so bitter about Carrollton. Carrollton is a wonderful place. You must be from the sticks of Tennessee and not know when you see something good.

DC- You could not be more wrong about carrollton. 1. no longer a “suitcase” college. the university has added a lot to shed that image. (football stadium, new basketball arena, new on campus living, greek village for frats/sororities. 2. plenty of places to go eat or drink in town. 3. not sure what sewer you’re referring to. 4. football uniforms are pretty much the same as louisiana tech. not sure how that look is comical. pretty clean and classic if you ask me. 5. moes is popular but dont know if thats luxury compared to Longhorn steak house or Little Hawaiian steak/seafood. 6. the dumbest thing in your post was the attempt at saying that tractor is the mode of transportation around here. what you didnt mention was the campus center with rock climbing, huge work out facility, 3 indoor basketball courts, indoor track. its a great school to go to is pretty much what I’m getting at.

That place is about as far left from me as it can be, but I love my school (Class of ‘89), and Carrollton is not a bad place at all. And sewer smell? Maybe you’ll get the Crypto (sporidium), but I never smelled anything.

Visited Carrolton last week and Little Hawaiian was a great place for lunch. My sword fish was prepared perfectly, and they took into account special dietary restrictions with no issues. Everyone can choose where they want to live, but to me this was a beautiful place to visit.
Lassiter has become a good football program, and Alex can enjoy playing football while getting a quality education. Congratulations to both Alex and his family.

I personally lived in Carrollton for 30+ years, and now live ten minutes away, and the strides that UWG has made in the last few years is astronomical. The football complex is very nice, the basketball coliseum is new and very clean, and the town is a very decent place to work/live, with great places to eat, close proximity to I-20. However, as bad as I hate to agree with the d-bag DC, if you go anywhere close to the campus at night you WILL SMELL the sewer smell that he’s speaking of, and if any students come on here and tell you that is not true, are telling a bald-faced lie. Adjacent to the college is the Sewage Water Treatment Plant, where all liquid waste is sent, and the reason you can only smell it at night is because they only turn on the six aerators in the waste pond around ten, so that the complaints are minimal, and mostly the only people out that late are bar-hopping and drunk, so their complaints aren’t coming from Carrollton’s more wealthy or prominent citizens. Most nights its noticeable, and some nights its downright suffocating.

DC – the university & stadium are directly beside the waste water treatment facility. I know the smell you are talikng about. The smell gets real bad every fall when students come back.

People…sarcasm…SARCASM..It is funny that some of these posts seem like they are coming from people that work at UWG..
Nonetheless,
It is a suitcase college. You’re fooling yourself if you don’t think that. Sticks of Tennessee? I thought living in carrollton was considered the sticks…oh well, what would carrollton be without southwire? OH I know…Whitesburg.
The football field is nice. I do like what they did. I think they dropped the ball on the “Colosseum”..if you’re going to call it that…at least have it look somewhat like it..ie more rounded..but its whatever.
uwgstudent please refer to all these “plenty of places to eat and drink”
Yes little hawaiian is good…their overhead is pretty steep dont know how long they will be able to continue that business..

DC you are an idiot to talk about Carrollton. If you do not like WG football then so be it. Nothing wrong with the town. Like most small southern towns there is not a lot of action at night. BTW, the basketball complex is nicer than UGA or GT with about 6,000 seats. I live and work in the town and do not notice the smell during the day time. The city is not really agricultural or farmed based so not really sure why you throw the tractor reference in.

it was sarcasm…not quick on the uptake huh? No the football is fine..they suck i can accept it…I think the posters earlier have clarified the smell issue…You west ga people posting in rage are not thinking objectively..I said there isn’t much to do in the town…haven’t heard anything otherwise…

West Georgia died when their DBag president made them change the braves name to wolves. We dont have wolves in Carrollton, but we do have a rich history of indians from the area. The president is a different kind of indian anyway (overseas variety), so what does he know. Dr Sethna you are a complete joke, and so is your nose. GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DC- Little Hawaiian, Longhorn steakhouse, 3 good mexican places. ocharleys and applebees. nothing incredible but its a D2 college town. and then if you’re looking for a place to drink, the downtown square has the irish pub, plates on the square, and the fish house. the fish house is kinda similar to the margaritavilles you see in fla. cant really compare the two but it is a good atmosphere. I’m not saying carrollton is any athens or knoxville but compared to the other division 2 schools in our conference it is a great place to go to school. I’m a former athlete and have been to west al, north al, delta state. nearly all of the schools in the conference and uwg/carrollton is the best. no comparison. its not fair to try to compare carrollton to a d1 town.
