Georgia Tech lands prized quarterback Vad Lee

Quarterback Vad Lee, arguably the most valuable member of Georgia Tech’s recruiting class, is officially a Yellow Jacket.

Lee, whose full first name is Lavaedeay, is arguably the best football player in North Carolina. He was named the Class 4A player of the Year after leading his Durham-Hillside team to a 16-0 record and state championship. He completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,969 yards with 23 TDs and added 1,004 yards rushing.

“What they do really fits me well and I feel like I can go down there and compete for a job,” Lee said.

This guy is probably going to have to win some games singlehandedly, but I think he is one who is capable of that. As soon as the ink dried on his LOI he became the starter for the next 4 years on the Flats.

Any chance he could start right away? Or will he be reshirted? I like Washington, but he doesn’t seem to handle pressure well.

Oh yea, this is awesome:
Kid is a player, loves to win, would not accept loss this year after heartbreaking loss last year.

Still has to prove himself but I I’m going to guess he will be Tech’s Tracy Ham. But watch out for Days also, I have no clue who starts.

I like Days, Lee, Washington at QB – very strong QB depth.

No reason not to RS Vad this year. He has .00001% chance to start coming in with no previous experience running an option offense. And why waste a year of eligibility as a back-up when we have Washington/Days already. I’m guessing Days starts, Washington 2, and Lee RSs unless we have big injury problems.

Vad lee will be a good one at GT but DAYS is a stud also! Days was named to the redshirt freshman all-america watch list by rivals this past week. GT was the only team with 2 players from the ACC named to that list. Uga had only 1 in michael bennet. I think days having a redshirt year and learning PJ’s system will make him the starter in 2011 without a doubt. You can’t just walk in with this type of system and just start in most cases. Vad possibly may not redshirt because of depth but DAYS is going to be difficult to beat out guys.

We have two very talented QB’s at GT who are both freshman and a load of wealth at A-BACK and B-back. Nesbitt was a power type guy at QB, both lee and days have legit elusive ability and are much faster than nesbitt. Days has 4.44 speed and lee at 4.49 in the forty. These two will be hell to stop in what we do. I can’t wait to get both of these guys some PT and watch the careers of both these talented men. Welcome vad, and always remember…THWG!!!!!

He will start because he will immediately be the best player on the team. As some alluded to, he is Tracy Ham/Adrian Peterson. All Coach Johnson needs is one superstar to make the offense hum, and this kid is it. The others may be pretty good, but this kid is on another level.

I say red-shirt him and let him add his freshman 15lbs. Gives Days a shot! In 2012 the two can share snaps and see if one comes out on top.

@DAVEY

No way he starts man! A guy ahead of him was named to redshirt freshmen all- america list who REDSHIRTED and has a year up on vad man! What about that do you not understand? This system is a difficult one to learn for kids. You really think a freshman will walk in and start? Hell, even murray at uga who was the #2 QB in the nation didn’t start as a freshman!!

Do you know anything about how football works? Just curious

well I guess Vad didn’t listen to the never ending BS that WnE kept tweeting him. He sent 5 tweets to Vad in the last 24 hrs trying to get Vad to decommit. What a sorry excuse for an adult human being. Sorry Wrecksy, but I guess you still have CPJ to bash…

Good post. Vad is to light to run this offense right now. He needs to redshirt and put 20 lbs on to survive with the hits he will take. Days is already at 220 lbs and runs a legit 4.44 in the forty. Vad will have his shot to take over in 2012 IMO. That’s when he will be better prepared also with his body and in terms on the playbook. This is common sense not rocket science.

Vad will be a great player at GT. These two QB’s pushing each other will only help us to winning the ACC again without a doubt!

Well, a couple of ways to look at this. First off, that RS FR team is a joke. That Bennett kid will never make a meaningful play at UGA.

Lee has the tools to play in a traditional offensive system. If he comes here and gets stacked behind another freshman, he actually has the option to transfer, unlike a lot of other option QB’s.

Also, if Days was that good, and Coach Johnson knew that he had Lee coming in and how mediocre Washington was, don’t you think he would have tried to win some games last year by playing the stud, Days? Why sacrifice nearly half the season with a kid who could not really play when you had a guy redshirting who is supposed to be all-time? Doesn’t make any sense to me.

I am a UGA fan, and have no dog in the fight, except that I have seen Lee play, and he is the only person on Tech’s roster that I think gives Tech a chance to beat us. That is not suppose to smack talk or anything like that, but I tell you that the kid is unreal. I watched A LOT of GA Southern football as a kid. When Johnson has a guy, the guy, Ham, Raymond Gross, etc, it’s another level.

I will not say anymore about this, except that I sincerely hope that Lee is redshirted, passed over by another freshman and decides to transfer somewhere not in the SEC.

No doubt Days is talented. That said, Vad is probably one of the best underrated QB’s I’ve ever seen. I agree – competition for QB can only make them both (and Washington) better. If I know CPJ, he’ll start the best QB regardless of class (Freshman, Red Shirt Freshman, etc.) If Vad is the best of the bunch, he’ll play immediately.

nothing wrong with honesty Davey Boy. We too think that Vad is a great player, a difference maker at QB that we sorely missed late last year. No offense to Tevin but he is a solid backup. Hopefully Days has learned the TO scheme enough to be a true candidate to start. Vad will have to come in and learn the system and add some bulk, but that is not a bad thing. He will only be better for redshirting this year and will make a huge splash in 2012. If he pushes the other two this year, then great for him…

Its going to be either Vad Lee or Synjyn Days taking snaps next year. Tevin Washington can’t hold either of their jocks.

Awesome to have Vad Lee on board. With this addition we have the capability of running our offense and also having a first rate passing game blended in with it. Should make for a high powered offense that drive defensive coordinators crazy for years. Welcome Vad Lee.

Agreed AMG! I think many will be shocked at how much CPJ will be throwing the ball. To quote CPJ, “[in the past,] Why would we do more of something that we’re not good at?” We’ll my friends, all of that changes now with the addition of Vad Lee.

I’ve always imagined how good our triple offense would be if we had a true passing threat. I think we’re about to find out…

Dawg fan here….This is huge for you guys. Any hint of a passing game just made stopping this offense harder. Still gotta have someone to catch it. Usually more than one WR. Just having one means he can be covered pretty well, but this guy will help Tech. Yes, I’m keeping an eye on you guys to see what’s going on…..Hope you have a good day. Looks like a big day in Athens….But we’ve had them before…..

Davis, I hope youre right. Would be nice to have a passing game again even if just to back off defenses from stacking the line and shooting into the backfield on every play. I’m just not sure its the QB that’s the problem. I remember many a pass last season from Nesbitt that was on the mark and dropped. Our receivers are a bigger problem than the guy getting the ball to them.
