Zach DeBell received an official scholarship offer from the University of Georgia on Tuesday morning, then two more from Virginia and West Virginia that afternoon.
His response? “Skadoosh!”
Seriously, that’s what he said.

DeBell
For the non-indoctrinated, that’s something a very pleased Kung Fu Panda says in the animated movie of the same name. I know because I had to ask.
The point is, DeBell is a very happy camper these days and, in terms of recruiting, has come a long way from where he was at the turn of the New Year.
“In January, I had like three [offers],” DeBell said. “They just started pouring in lately.”
For those keeping count — and DeBell is — that’s 23 offers for the 6-foot-7, 265-pound offensive tackle from Tarpon Springs, Fla.
The Bulldogs’ offer is DeBell’s second out of the Peach State. Georgia Tech offered him shortly after he visited the campus during a spring break tour of colleges with his father in late March.
He also hit UGA, Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina and Miami during that week-long excursion. Now he has offers from all of them.
DeBell credits that trip for a lot of the attention he is receiving now.
“I definitely think it helped get my name out there,” he said. “I actually had one coach say to me, ‘we didn’t want to be the only one not offer.”
So far at least, Florida, Florida State and Miami have not. But DeBell is hearing the Gators may be close.
As for Georgia, DeBell said he definitely likes what he sees and wants to see more. He plans on attending the Bulldogs’ June 12th camp.
“I think they’re pretty high up there,” DeBell said. “It’s not too far away from home, plus it’s a beautiful campus. I actually didn’t get to spend a lot of time there so I’m looking forward to coming back.”
Asked if he had any Georgia connections, DeBell mentioned Tampa-Plant 5-star prospect James Wilder Jr., who’s also being recruited by the Bulldogs.
“He’s a great guy and we’ve gotten to be pretty good friends,” DeBell said. “I call him Cheeseburger Eddy. I think he looks just like that guy in The Longest Yard.’”
If you’re starting to get the idea DeBell watches a lot of movies, you’d be right.
“I’ve seen probably every zombie movie ever made,” he said. “That’s why I have short hair. If you have long hair or a mullet they’ll grab it from behind.”
KUNG FU PANDA COINS A PHRASE . . .
THIS IS ‘CHEESEBURGER EDDY, NOT JAMES WILDER JR. . . . .

13 NATIONAL TITLES – 22 SEC TITLES!!!
Is it me or does this kids physique remind you Clint Boling. At any rate, you can never have enough trench players – and going after Wilder is improtant as Crowell is leaning toward Bama and is also favoring Auburn.
UGA is putting together a good recruiting class – but they need a feature RB as they did not get one last year – Ealey will be a Junior when this years class of players will be freshmen.
Anybody else following Tennessee? Dooley is literally starting from scratch and plenty of holes to fill – will take a couple of good recruitng years to see results. Tennessee has a lot of offers – but many bluechips taking a wait and see. ONe thing to remember – there is opportunity for immediate playing time for the Vols – and young Dooley needs to sell this!

Richt needs to go! If he would exert more force on our own state we would win the EAST and certainly UF with much more regularly!!! We DO NOT NEED any more Floridians! THIS IS GEORGIA and we have plenty of HIGH SCHOOL talent here that should be getting these scholly’s!

Georgia is a winner and will return to the top in 2010. Florida and Bama are both overrated this season by all the pundits. They lost a lot of talent to the NFL and graduation.

Do you Tech fans really believe that Nesbitt has a shot at winning the Heisman? A quarterback who has no chance to pass for more than 2500 yds and no chance to play QB in the NFL. Well if that is the case I think Blair Walsh is going to win the Heisman. Some of you Techies have your heads in the clouds.

DeBell is a classic example of the 2011 talent that is out there that is not yet widely known, Rated down the list a bit on both Rivals and Scout at this point, but the more he visits schools/camps, the more his stock will rise.

258dawg as usual another delusional puppy…perhaps you haven’t be keeping track of recruiting. UF will beat you girls silly every year…I can’t see the Gators losing to a second tier SEC school like uga in the next 6 years or so…please keep cmr he’s our bitch….and you know it down deep in your second rate rear ends that you cannot match up with the Gators we just simply have better players, and green might not ever want to go over the middle again againt uf

First let me say I’m a huge Georgia fan!!! But in reference to Nesbitt winning the national title, look no further than Eric Couch of Nebraska. Alot of thing would have to happen for this kind of lightning to strike again (undefeated in ACC play, no more than one loss overall, down year for QBs in general. If he were to run for 1200 yards with 10 or more TDs and pass for 1500 yds with 15 TDs and very few INTs, he could win it. Especially if his team is winning. I DONT THINK IT WILL HAPPEN, but its happened before.
Moops

tim – that ’second tier’ school still owns you in the overall record. But I guess UF fans think football only started in the 90’s. Silly gators. 6 years? In a year or two when Urban retires, all the recruits in the world won’t help you if you dont have the coaching (see CMR lately)

No, AthensHomerDawg, it doesn’t. Otherwise, using your logic, only an undefeated conference champion can be a conference champion. If we use your logic, then Wake Forest would be the 2008 SEC Champ. If you’re comfortable with that, so be it.

Losing all those players will bring down the gators. Urban “macho man” Meyer is having chest pains for a reason. Maybe Percy Harvin can repay UF for looking the other way on his substance abuse and come back and supply CUM with some meds. I see gators wetting their jean shorts (jorts) on several occasions. Like they did against the Tide. And it won’t be from crocodile tears.

Hah ! GT loses their four best players and will be better this year ?. CPJ hasn’t recruited talent like they lost. Groh can’t do but so much with the bums left on defense. Burnett and Morgan were all you had. If you thought UGA ran through your defense like shellac through a goose last year, wait til Ealey and King do it again in Athens. They ripped GT for another 50 or so yards since I typed this message.

I had to reread Big Uga’s post to see if it was real. No more players from Florida? Yeah, I agree, Geno Atkins and Jeff Owens weren’t needed. Neither are Aaron Murray or Orson Charles. And while we’re at it, let’s send A.J. back to South Carolina. And those are just the ones that come to mind while I sit in bewilderment at how stupid some of our ‘fans’ are. Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t end with: 30-24, 8 of 9, 15 of 20. Go Dogs
