Dogs in hunt as QB Christian LeMay plans April 30 announcement

Christian LeMay threw for 3,296 yards and 44 TDs with only two interceptions to lead Butler High to the North Carolina state championship last season.

Christian LeMay threw for 3,296 yards and 44 TDs with only two interceptions to lead Butler High to the North Carolina state championship last season.

Christian LeMay, the No. 2 quarterback in America per Scout.com, will announce his “leader” to the college football world next Friday in Pineville, N.C., LeMay’s father said today.

Stacy LeMay, Christian’s father, said his son will make the announcement before friends, family and assembled media at the Champion Christian Center, where he is lead pastor, at 6:30 p.m. They will also name two other “finalists.” The University of Georgia, he said, has a very strong chance of being among them.

“As of right now Georgia is one of the teams he really likes,” Mr. LeMay said.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound LeMay, who has more than 20 offers, has the Bulldogs in his top five along with Clemson, Auburn, Notre Dame and Texas A&M

So why announce a “leader” and not just commit somewhere? The Christian-values family does not want to mislead or misrepresent by saying “commitment.”

“The word commitment means a lot to me and I’m not going to say it unless I mean it,” LeMay said.

Stacy LeMay said it’s mostly a matter of semantics. But since they still plan to make official visits in the fall, commitment is too strong a word.

“It’s the school he plans to attend,” he said.

Nonetheless, they say “leader” carries a lot of weight. Christian, an early enrollee, plans to take an active role in the recruiting for whatever school he decides on.

“He’d like to influence some of the top players in the country,” Stacy LeMay said. “A lot of them have been calling him and asking him what he’s going to do. They’ve been communicating with each other.”

LeMay was named the North Carolina player of the year after leading Butler High to the state championship as a junior last season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound LeMay threw for 3,296 yards with an astonishing 44 touchdowns  and just two interceptions.

So, you’re going to announce your leader on April 30. Wow! I can’t wait!!! By the way, Florida already has its QB commit…and he is a lot better than you…and probably more based in reality too. More of a TEAM player…and not so much about ME! Have fun at Georgia. You will fit right in.

Please name one school and close this recruiting saga man. Why name a leader for what now. You need to close it and concentrate on school work as you prepare for college. Thats my advice to you

As a UGA fan, I agree with some earlier posts and would rather LeMay announce his ‘commitment’ rather than his ‘leader’. Until he does this, he will not be an effective recruiter for anyone.

I hope he comes to UGA and I hope he influences other people; but how is he going to do that without commiting? Whats he gonna tell the people who call him up, ” come to UGA and I may go there?”.

Seems kind of like sending out wedding announcements that “I’ll be getting married soon, to one of three lucky finalists, Susie here is the current leader, but I may choose someone else..so stay tuned”

What does that really mean when you say I am going to announce my top 25 schools? I don’t really understand the purpose of holding this big press conference to announce a maybe.
After DUH-rick, I won’t get excited about anyone until they officially sign on the dotted line.
I think CMR has announced to the College football world that UGA is a changing program with the firing of his friend, the hiring of CTG and finally the expulsion of our #1 QB.
LeMay, if you want to be a DAWG we would love to have you but don’t string us along.

So....

Now we’re gonna start having big announcements for “leaders”??? You gotta be kidding, why bother?? What happens when they chance their mind on the leader. What will we call that…??? A lead change???

Guys if you have followed this guys recruitment and comments he has made, his “leader” is his committment. Lemay thinks that until you sign though you shouldnt use the word committment. Whether Lemay wants to admit it or not he is committing next Friday. Gator in the hooch – Lemay is better according to the “experts” than your committed QB. Just saying.

This is another mature kid who is doing his due diligence. Very mature for his age. His father said above the school he names will be the school he attends. What more do you want? We want him as a DAWG…..chill

Wouldn’t it the perfect response to this self centered dope if his chosen, privileged “leader” thanked his royal majesty for the honor then politely withdrew their offer citing “a lack of commitment.”
I would personally make a noteworthy donation to the program who explified such courage!

My advice is that, commit to one school and let other schools persue other QB’s, whom they want to have. Dont make list and every school counts on you.

What does the word commitment mean in today’s recruiting environment? Not much. Give this family the benefit of the doubt. They’re “committed” to their faith, and just maybe their faith does not believe in making a “commitment” when the kid wants to experience some of the perks of the recruitment process.

Give them a break…maybe while he’s on a recruiting visit to say Notre Dame, or Auburn, or Clemson he might sway a big time recruit or three to come to Good Ol’ Georgia.

Great to see this young man so passionate about his development, spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically. Lemay is showing a lot to announce early & then bring along the best guys in the nation with him. Let’s face it, wherever this guy goes, good chance he’s going to win a National Championship, and if he does, several players will get drafted in the NFL due to the attention.

You know, the Lord gives us all a measure of talent & influence. It’s our job to make sure we maximize it, so the talent & influence continues to grow.

Even though the Georgia and Coach Richt hater(s) is/are on this board a lot, the light outshines the darkness.

If you put a healthy fish in the wrong environment, it dies. Put that fish in the right environment, and it thrives. I believe Georgia and working under Coach Richt is the PERFECT envirnment for QB Christian Champion Lemay, who wants to use his talent as a platform.

Kid would love to have you, but what idiot sports station is going to show up and listen to who your leader is. Take your time, take your trips, enjoy your final season. Then when you make a final decision, then let us know. Until then your announcements mean absolutely nothing. Come on pa, ain’t you starting to get a little to much air time?
