Impressive list of prospects expected at UGA Junior Day

A lot of people have asked who all is going to attend Georgia’s Junior Day this weekend. I don’t have a comprehensive list (only UGA does) but I can tell you some that I’ve run across just through the course of interviews and conversations I’ve had with coaches and recruits this weekend.

I also know of at least one elite prospect who won’t be in Athens this weekend. Top 5 linebacker James Vaughters of Tucker is making a trip to Stanford, according to coach Franklin Stephens.

But as far as who is going to UGA, it’s a pretty impressive list. I haven’t been scouring recruiting sites for names 0r anything so I’m sure there are others. Let me know if you’ve heard of somebody not represented). Here’s the ones I know:

  1. Sterling Bailey, DE/OLB, East Hall
  2. Devin Bowman, RB/DB, Ridgeland
  3. Chaz Cheeks, OL, East Hall
  4. Isaiah Crowell, RB, Carver-Columbus
  5. Nile Daniel, WR, Griffin
  6. Xzavier Dickson, DE, Griffin
  7. Amarlo Herrera, LB, North Clayton
  8. Quincy McKinney, OL, Carver-Columbus
  9. Corey Moore, DB, Griffin
  10. Ra’Chard Pippens, DB, Ola
  11. Alan Posey, OT, Clarke Central
  12. Chris Sanders, DB, Tucker
  13. Gabriel Wright, DT, Carver-Columbus

Chip, Ra’Chard Pippens of Ola will be in Athens this weekend. He just received an offer from South Carolina last weekend after attending their Junior Day.

Icenupe: Good catch. I actually mentioned Ra’Chard Pippens in a Ten at 10 earlier this week and had him on my hand-written list. Oops. Will add.

Yeah, I would like to know if Rome is going to make it to Junior Day. Also, has anyone heard of any out of state guys that will be making the trip to Athens this weekend? After the let down of this past NSD I hope Richt will do a better job of locking down the borders like he had done so well in the past. If we could get 2 of the top 3 or 4 in state that would be ideal. Crowell, Rome, and Vaughters would ensure a top 5 class, especially with the guys already committed. Chip, have you heard anything about Ray Drew and if he will be attending, or even if he has UGA highly rated on his list? Thanks and GO DAWGS!!

Oddsmakers favor Alabama to win a second consecutive BCS title

TUSCALOOSA | ESPN will televise the University of Alabama’s annual A-Day spring game on April 17. Last year, despite an ESPN national television audience, A-Day drew 84,050 fans. That figure led all spring games in the Southeastern Conference.
The Crimson Tide has averaged nearly 85,000 fans in attendance for A-Day over the last three years, including a capacity crowd of 92,138 for UA head coach Nick Saban’s A-Day debut in 2007. Saban often notes that the passion Alabama fans show for A-Day has proven to be useful in recruiting and in upholding the program’s tradition.

Chip-

I’ve also heard Patrick Johnson, a DB out of Fla, will be at Jr Day. Lakatos is high on this guy.

And then there’s Tyler Love, Coach Stacy was impressed with him, I think he’ll be there too. Love is an impressive OT.

I see bama is going after kids that have been kicked off their highschool team. I guess Auburn beating them in recruiting is forcing them to take these kids.

Great to see Devin Bowman on that list! I watched him play quite a bit last year and he is the real deal at RB, DB and PR. In the sub region playoff game he left one of the top 10 teams of AAA Georgia look very slow. Now UGA needs to see if they also can nab his all region teamates DE Mason Harris and WR/RB Deonte Marsh.

The prospects that want to be in Athens this weekend will be there, the ones who don’t, won’t. Recruting will be one helluva lot easier once we win a few games, like mabe, run the tables in September………..We do that, we get just about anyone we want, period. Remember 07 and 08 classes, we were turning 5star prospects away because we were full. Those are the classes that will be starting for the most part this fall………..GO DOGS !!!! GATA !!!!

WOW, Vaughters to Stanford, that’s a school with a great winning tradition ? And you have travel clear across the United States to go there, I bet his parents really like that, having to travel 4 hours or more to see him play every weekend, I’ll never understand why a kid does that, how many west coast players come to east coast to play, not very many.

If you really think about it all this recruiting stuff is totally irrelevant unless and until we hire BuLLdawg to be our Head Football Coach. As he has pointed out to us so many times, our current coaching staff is too stupid to coach a football team. So does it really matter who we recruit if we can’t coach? I’m telling you, WE BETTER HIRE BuLLdawg IMMEDIATELY OR ELSE WE WILL NEVER BE ANY GOOD. If you don’t believe me, just ask BuLLdawg himself. He is a self-proclaimed football genuis.

I’m going to be there! Someone tell CMR I’m on my way and if he offers, I’ll be sure to commit. If he doesn’t I’m heading straight to Crocky Top where my offer is solid. Da’Prick has made sure of it. If not I’ll spill the beans about who bought his new car…

Here are my measurements:
5′11 and 3/4″
243 lbs (after I ate my Sonic foot long Coneydawg, fries and Frito Pie)
240 lbs in a few minutes…
I’m only 31 years old so I’ve got 4 good years in me before I go completly bald and my knees go out. I figure I can plug the whole at NT for a few plays a half. Heck for all that I’ll only ask them for 1/2 a scholarship if they let me avoid those matdrills…
