Unfazed by NCAA inquiry, James ready to enroll at Tennessee

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. — Ja’Wuan James remained silent after NCAA investigators came to his school to interview him about Tennessee’s recruiting practices and he stayed quiet as rumors swirled that he was thinking about backing out of his commitment to the Vols. But James made it clear Wednesday after completing the first day of practices for the Under Armour All-America game that he never wavered on Tennessee.

“Oh, yeah, I’m still solid with Tennessee,” said North Gwinnett’s 6-foot-6, 305-pound tackle. “I’m going to enroll there and move in on the weekend of the eighth (Jan. 8). I’m all set.”

A month ago, the NCAA began looking into Tennessee’s recruiting practices under coach Lane Kiffin, including the use of recruiting hostesses and the use of social media to make contact with prospects. Investigators came to North Gwinnett High on Dec. 10 specifically to talk him about some of those allegations. James said the inquiry didn’t really faze him.

“No, not really,” he said Wednesday. “I just answered their questions and then it ended and that was all.”

The NCAA asked that details of that discussion remain private.

James said he was escorted by UT’s controversial hostess Lacey Earps during his official visit to Knoxville on Oct. 12. Earps was one of the hostesses that traveled the Duncan, S.C., to attend the game of Tennessee commitments Corey Miller and Brandon Willis.

“She’s a nice girl,” he said. “She was just like any hostess I had at any other school.”

James is looking forward to enrolling in college and getting recruiting behind him. He was committed to Alabama last spring before reopening his recruitment early this fall. That touched off a battle between Tennessee, Georgia and UCLA to land the four-star tackle.

James was cited by several recruiting analysts as one of the players that stood out on the first day of workouts for the Under Armour Game, which will be played Saturday at 11 a.m. (ESPN). The players are going through practices and skills challenges all week at the Disney/ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. The game will be played in St. Petersburg.

“It was pretty good,” said James, who is playing offensive tackle with Team Blur. “I got to compete with a lot of the best [players] in the country. It’s different but it’s fun playing against good people. Just competing with these guys is hard.”

James is playing alongside Buford’s Kolton Houston, who is working at guard this week. Houston is committed to Georgia.

“It’s hard when you don’t have the playing experience with the guy next to you,” James said. “But I think we’ll have it down by the time the game comes around.”

They have recruiting analyst’s that watch practice for these Mickey Mouse games and report on them? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

What’s next? Following them to the lunch room and reporting on their appetites? Maybe to the locker room to see how they did putting on their uniforms and lacing up their cleats?

Maybe to their rooms? Was he able to put toothpaste on his own brush? Did he know what to do next?

Where are those Bell South phone credit cards that UT used to give all of their players?

Wow….if you are going to use his name please spell it correctly. It’s K-I-F-F-I-N. Yeah, the VOLS are real worried about coaching turnover….seeing as we have 2 more NFL coaches being added to the staff following the end of this NFL regular seson. Meanwhile, UGA still & probably won’t ever find a D-Coordinator.

Tim I saw this early in the week in the UT Volquest.James seems committed to UT, but I knew you would have some sort of negative article in hopes to sway him from UT (maybe to UGA.)You may not remember, but many years ago Larry Munson used to tour the state and just happen to speak to recruits about going to UGA. The NCAA put a stop to that because Munson was an extension of UGA. Now, here you are the local homer that will stop at nothing to sway a kid to UGA. Only you do it in the guise of “fair reporting” by a journalist. It may be a matter of time before you are pulled off the recruiting trail too.

Even if nothing comes out of hostess-gate, there’s still the little issue of armed robbery knocking out some of your players, losing Eric Berry and a host of seniors, and only coming off a 7-5 record you’re exceedingly proud of. Assuming no major penalties from the NCAA, Tenn will be in the hunt but I don’t see them winning the SEC east even in a rebuilding year for FL.

10 – UGA UF Tenn

One key reason being that UGA has neither Bama nor LSU on their schedule. We will have fewer big games to plan for this year and won’t be playing Tenn the week after a much bigger opponent.

Rock E Top,

I watched the game tonite an maybe they had the band “muted” by the TV guys but all I heard was how a balanced offense “trounced (as ESPN called it)” ran up and down the field and how VT defense held Tenn to a meager 5 yds of rushing.

Is that really even possible? If you stand at the line of scrimmage and just fall forward you gain roughly 2 yards.. How in the hell is that possible to only gain 5 yds??

I’m attending UT to please my North Gwinnett High School booster president. She has kept me financially sound for years, and now it is time to pay her back. Yeah, yeah, I know I will likely only win maybe one game against Florida, Georgia and Alabama while I am a Vol, but it is important that I do something to repay my UT grads in our booster club. .

Tennessee vols’ lame butt THUMPED by Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, marking the 8th consecutive season that UGA has been the HIGHER RANKED TEAM than the Tennessee vols. This COMPLETES THE STRING OF TWO (2) ACC TEAMS beating the crap out of 2 SEC teams. Of course, this one was the # 2 ACC team and The SEC sent out our 10th worst SEC team, the Tennessee vols (7-6.) The vols had played a very soft schedule, SoS Number 52 this regular season and had beat NO RANKED TEAM. UGA was their only win of the season, and UGA is NOT RANKED. UGA might get close to being ranked in a poll here or there, but UGA absolutely had the BETTER SEASON than the Tennessee lame butt vols did at UGA 8-5 playing SoS # 7 this regular season. This is the 8th consecutive season now that The UGA Bulldogs have been THE HIGHER RANKED TEAM than the vols. Best of luck next year vols. vols LOST 14-37 to Virginia Tech. SLAUGHTERED. This RUINS the vols season. vols have LOST 3 STRAIGHT PEACH BOWLS all in HUGE BLOWOUTS, this 1 by 3 touchdowns and a field goal. Nice. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer group of hillbillies. Can’t wait to hear how soon to be ON PROBATION Lame Kitten tells us all how this is some MORAL VICTORY AS WELL.

I got all the Bowl Games correct yesterday, except for the Peach Bowl. The vols used to recruit players from the state of Georgia who bragged at Tennessee that they DO NOT PLAY IN PEACH BOWLS, but a quick study on that finds that the Tennessee vols at ObKnoxiousville have now played in THREE PEACH BOWLS in the Coach Richt Era. Coach Richt and UGA have played in 1. UGA won our Peach Bowl game BEATING Virginia Tech. I was at that game. It was a great win. Instead, the vols THUMPED by the same Virginia Tech. Thanks a lot vols.

vols 3 consecutive LOSSES in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl are by a combined 50 points, all in the Bowl Games following their now banned from football druggie running back bragging that he didn’t go to UGA because he didn’t want to play in Peach Bowls. What a bloody LAUGH vols.

vols do not play in Peach Bowls.

Been to 3.

Blown out in all 3.

50 points combined.

Congratulations vols.

SEC 1-2 bowl games so far. Not a good start. Way to go vols. Thank you.

Harris Poll had the vols higher ranked than UGA. That reverses now and UGA is the HIGHER RANKED TEAM.

UGA was already HIGHER RANKED than the vols in the Anderson-Hester BCS Poll 24 to 33.

UGA was already HIGHER RANKED than the vols in the Richard Billingsley BCS Poll 34 to 49.

UGA was already HIGHER RANKED than the vols in the Wes Colley BCS Poll 32 to 44.

UGA was already HIGHER RANKED than the vols in the Kenneth Massey BCS Poll 20 to 29.

UGA was already HIGHER RANKED than the vols in the Jeff Sagarin BCS Poll 17 to 31.

GA tek fans (both of you) :

JEFF SAGARIN RANKED UGA Number 17 BEFORE OUR BLOW-OUT 26th win in a Bowl Game.

January 1st, 2010
8:03 am

Only 2 teams have MORE THAN 26 Bowl Wins, Alabama and Southern California.

GA tek does NOT.

TN vols do NOT.

In case you want to know.

GA tek

UGA was # 39 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and the vols are NOT RANKED with EVEN 1 VOTE.

Now, UGA moves up in that poll too. We will be ranked in the Top 25 of at least half of Polls used in the BCS Rankings.

And, in BCS Rankings, UGA was Number 29 in the nation BEFORE our blow-out 24-point win over a Big XII team with the NCAA NUMBER 5 TOTAL OFFENSE IN THE NATION.

7-6 Tennessee vols.

January 1st, 2010

7-6 Tennessee vols.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TENNESSEE vols’ 7-6 “season” :

1.LOST to lousy 7-6 PAC-0 UCLA at Neyland.

2.LOST to Florida, but that was a win Lame Kitten says.

3.LOST to 7-5 Auburn at Neyland.

4.LOST to Alabama, but that was a win too according to Lame Kitten.

5.LOST to Ole Miss. I think Lame Kitten might have called this a LOSS.

6.LOST in 3rd Peach Bowl of Coach Richt Era by COMBINED 50 points.

2009 vols 7-6. Shouldn’t have been in Bowl Game, obviously.

2008 vols 5-7. No Bowl Game.

2005 vols 5-6. No Bowl Game.

Coach Richt in the Coach Richt Era has now been HIGHER RANKED than the vols EIGHT (8) CONSECUTIVE YEARS and COUNTING, than the vols.

3 SEASONS a combined 17-19 vols. 3 of the last 5 seasons 17-19 combined.

17-19 vols in 3 of the previous 5 years.

3 Peach Bowl BLOW-OUTS by a combined 50 points in Coach Richt Era.

vols, you’re doing real well there under now Lame Kitten.

Nicely done vols.

The LOSS to the vols and the LOSS to Kentucky, REALLY BAD this year.

TEXAS does NOT have more bowl victories than UGA, either.

Pennsylvania State does NOT have more bowl wins than UGA, as well.

Only Southern California and Alabama (tied with each other coming into this bowl season) have more bowl wins than UGA.

GA tek does NOT have more bowl wins than UGA.

26 UGA Bowl Wins.

And, the BEAT WRITERS at the AJ-C cannot find a STORY LINE for UGA’s Bowl, other than they think it was lackluster.

2 teams in all of America have won more bowl games than UGA, now with this THUMPING of Texas A&M and their NCAA Number 5 Total Offense in the nation 44-20.

vols have a LOSING RECORD to UGA in Coach Richt Era 4-5.

We overtook the Tennessee vols in Bowl Victories.

GREAT STUFF Bulldogs. Way to go gentlemen.

3 Defensive Tackles we lose to the NFL, that’s it.

It’s a lot. But, that’s it. They are how we beat GA tek.

But, that’s all we lose.

Coach Richt Era at UGA, who was hired by Vincent J. Dooley, December 20, 2000 :

101-15 Texas, has loss to Alabama to come this season.

101-15 Boise State, has loss to TCU to come this season.

96-25 Oklahoma worse season than UGA this season, by far.

97-19 Southern California in the PAC-0 (PAC-0 is 2-4 in Bowls so far.)

93-21 Ohio State Suckeyes who are 0-9 vs. SEC in Bowl Games All-Time.

91-26 LSU, has Penn St today or drops to tie in losses with Coach Richt

90-27 Georgia Bulldogs in Coach Richt Era 7-2 Bowls for 26 to overtake vols.

89-27 Florida with NO COACH but 3 National Championships since 1996.

88-31 Virginia Tech after THUMPING of vols tonight.

85-26 TCU, has win over Boise State to come this season.

82-29 Utah after they THUMPED Mighty PAC-0 California.

81-32 Miami of Florida, they haven’t done a thing in ACC, nothing.

81-35 Boston College

78-35 Auburn, has game against Big 10 Northwestern 11 am today.

77-37 Texas Tech, has game without Mike Leach & his lawsuit.

75-38 Tennessee vols, 15 wins less than Coach Richt 11 more LOSSES.

75-40 Alabama 1 game to go, been WORSE than vols Coach Richt Era.

73-42 FSU who never had any QB after Coach Richt left FSU, not 1.

72-40 Michigan, so this 5-7 isn’t their ONLY LOUSY SEASON, is it?

72-44 GA tek, God they have been WORSE than Michigan. 1-8 vs Richt.

71-39 Pennsylvania State has been God Awful in Coach Richt Era.

13 Seasons (starting 1997) UGA has at least 8 wins a season, no other team better.

26 Bowl Wins now for UGA leaving only Southern California and Alabama with more.

You cannot LOSE to 2 teams both 7-6 vols and 7-6 Kentucky. That sucks. This is UGA, we cannot have LOSSES to one 7-6 team. That is NOT UGA football.

Otherwise, I have no problem with this year. Now, Coach Richt get you an NFL Defensive Coordinator and Mack Brown, please sir; and, tell UGA to give Decory Bryant his damn $500,000 and do it NOW Coach Richt, or give it to him yourself.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!
