Uncertainty has Florida commits considering options

Now that Urban Meyer’s resignation as Florida’s head football coach has been downgraded to an “indefinite leave of absence,” the question is how all the uncertainty is affecting recruiting?

Hard to tell so far. As of this writing the Gators’ Class of 2010 — ranked No. 3 nationwide by Rivals.com — remains intact. Some of the 20 pledges expressed relief from Sunday’s news that Meyer was not flat-out quitting. However, there is definite uneasiness among some other pledges, a few of whom had our local teams under serious consideration during their recruitment.

Topping the list is five-star safety Matt Elam, one of three seniors from Dwyer High in West Palm Beach to commit to Florida. His mother, Addie Lewis, told The Sporting News Today that Elam is “in a daze” over the situation and the Palm Beach Post reported that Elam is now considering staying at Dwyer High another semester instead of enrolling at Florida early as was his original plan. Elam also has been concerned about the recent departure of Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong.

“I’m going to sit and wait and weigh my options and see how things shake up,” Elam told the newspaper.

Elam, it should be noted, has been heavily recruited by Georgia and took an official visit to UGA on Nov. 14. In fact, nine of the Gators’ commitments for next year have official offers from the Bulldogs. Among those are Florida’s two commitments from this state, tailback Mack Brown of M.L. King High and defensive end Neiron Ball of Jackson. Brown says he plans to stick with the Gators “at this moment” and Ball hasn’t said anything. Both players also were recruited by Georgia Tech.

Georgia also offered West Palm Beach TE Gerald Christian; Bradenton ATH Jonathan Dowling; Fort Washington, Md., DB Jordan Haden, Fort Lauderdale CB Cody Riggs, Miami DE Lynden Trail and Cape Coral DB Jayden Watkins. The Bulldogs got official visits from Riggs and “Florida lean” Chris Dunkley, a wide receiver from Pahokee.

The Post also reported that West Palm Beach wide receiver Robert Clark, who Meyer talked into flipping on West Virginia in order to commit to the Gators, has also decided to put early graduation on hold and take other visits. He has now scheduled a January trip to Tennessee.

In somewhat related news, it might behoove Georgia to pick up another commitment from Florida. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Bulldogs are about to lose DE/LB B.J . Butler of Kissimmee-Osceola to Louisville.

When Urban Meyer looks over the field next November vs UGA, he will see two things: First, his puke up of Friday night’s Blue Cheese salad dressing will be spewing due to the “strain” and secondly, seeing Kirby Smart on the Dooooooooooooog sideline will conjure up images of the Bama drubbing and tebow’s sobbing.

THEN, he will say I am done again. It will be dry heaves for him.

Kirby? He knows that for him as HC at UGA, it is just a matter of time before CMR retires.

Goooooooooooo Dawgs.

It’s amazing how arrogant some Georgia fans are after a miserable season. Not to mention that they returned 6000 seats to the Weedeater Bowel so that Texas A & M could sell them. Hush little puppies until you can beat Kentucky and if Urban doesn’t come back, maybe you can stay within 20 points next year.

Urban, how can you expect your new recuiting class not to be looking elsewhere when you cannot even give them a 100% commitment that you will be their coach? It’s a two way street buddy, either your in, or your out!

It’s amazing to me that Tech fans can take such pleasure in the once in a decade decent year they had this year. Havent you idiots realized that Tech CANNOT be a consistent winner? Enjoy the Orange Bowl you twerps; you’ll be back to 6-6 next year and losing to the Dawgs AGAIN.

I would much rather be in Shreveport one year than suck for 9 out of every 10 years like Tech does. Maybe if you Tech fans are lucky you will meet some women from Iowa in Fla.. They all look like cows, but that is still better than the canine resembling coeds at the North Avenue Ghetto.

p.s. Tech guys..for once..wash your hair before going out.

BJ Butler needs to take a hike. I hope Strong does offer. This guy sounds like a cancer we don’t need. “Uncoachable” and “Disrespectful”?
I’d rather have a two star who is coachable and WANTS to play for the DAWGS.

Okay, I have now realized that most of these people suffer from a severe case of A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder). The article is about the impact of the Gator’s coaching situation on recruiting, yet you have these mental midgets spewing on about totally irrelevant issues. Take your medication. I see that some GT fans are still suffering from delusions of grandeur and a severe inferiority complex. I must say that it is funny to see them searching for anything to minimize the UGA program. The reality is that we traveled to Atlanta and defeated a much higher ranked team. You can say all the stupid stuff you want but the reality doesn’t change. UGA defeated GT in Atlanta. No, we didn’t have rings made because defeating GT is just a normal thing that happens on a frequent basis. Just check out the last decade. Insulting cities in Louisiana does not change the facts. The irony is that GT fans are criticizing the capacity of a stadium. Now that is ironic since we consider the GT stadium to be a practice field. In terms of this young man decommiting from UGA. I say so be it. If he does, then that is his right. I don’t attack teenagers. That is classless. He has not signed anything so he has the right to explore all of his options. He is an outstanding football player that has a very bright future ahead of him. I wish him well in whatever decision he makes. I’m not like GT fans that get a sense of gratification from attacking teenagers that reject their school. It was funny to see all the insults that GT fans threw at the basketball center that committed to UGA and eventually signed with GT. They insulted this kid because of his recruiting ranking and lack of talent. Then he selects GT. Yes, GT fans are true hypocrites. In terms of the coach at UF, I now realize that he is a pure primadona and an egomaniac. If he has major health concerns, then he should retire for himself and his family. I guess he was cured overnight. I saw an interview with him with him saying that he cannot settle on his replacement allowing the program to drop or “change our program.” Dude get over yourself. That tells you that he has no confidence in the athletic director’s decision making ability. I see him as having a god complex. He just wanted his ego stroked and some incentives added. This coach is truly a selfish egomaniac. What was the score when Tim got hurt in the Kentucky game? Why was he still in the game? This dude is all about himself and feeding his ego. The only disorder he has is called the NFL. His elite talent is leaving the program. I guess the dehydration, chest pains, and hypertension have been cured. Who is his cardiologist? He is a miracle worker. He is just playing games with his program, his players, his coaches, and his fans. Notice I said “his”.

It’s simple. UGA defeated GT in Atlanta. We played a head to head matchup. No need to ponder the “ifs”. Our team defeated a much higher ranked team. What is truly stupid is GT fans reading UGA blog sites and posting on them. No, that is pathetic. Get treatment for the inferiority complex. Go DAWGS.

Kirby Smart's the Guy

December 28th, 2009
11:35 am

On Jan 8, after Richt announces Kirby Smart as Georgia’s new DC, you will see a mass exodus from Florida to Georgia as far as recruiting goes. At least 7 players will de-commit form Florida to Georgia. The recruits know Meyer isn’t coming back with a bad heart, they know calling his “quitting” a “leave-of-absense” was just a recruiting ploy. Think it about it. You have the chance to play for 1 of 7 coaches in history who have 80 wins in 8 seasons, and Richt did it in the SEC, no one else has done that, not Meyer, not Saban, not Miles, not any other active SEC Coach. Add to that mix Kirby Smart, who ran the #1 defense in the country, and bell is tolling for Florida and the rest of the SEC. Mark Richt’s time is here–destiny is calling–the run is about to start. Get on the bus, or get ran over.

Dawgtime – Amen, brother! Couldn’t have said it better myself on all accounts. The one point you left out was the common comment by Tech fans that all Georgia grads end up flipping burgers or working for Tech grads after college. Well, I can tell you there’s not a single Tech grad in my office and I go home with a smile on my face every day thanks to a healthy six figure salary and a Porsche in the garage.

And yes, this whole thing about Urban Meyer is half based on his gigantic ego (which is the size of the state of Florida) and the need for Florida to be in all the off-season press since they won’t be able to talk about Tebow anymore.

(((30-24))) Sorry..I just had to do it.

FLUKE! That’s what you won the weekend after Turkey Day Pugs. You won the game, fair and square. But you didn’t look like Georgia (see 7-5, kicking off in Shreveport while most of you are trying to get out of the office). You’re trending downward and it must suck for all of your egos to know that the biggest thing you’ll be playing for years to come is a “State Championship” against the school on the rise. It matters to you, but will you post the score everywhere next year or have a clock ticking down to the game time? Probably not. You’ll likely need motivation like that for Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, LSU (oops, don’t get a shot them) or Okla St (same story).

It was FLUKE. That’s why none of you sorry a$$es thought you’d win before the game, and that’s why it’s so important to you now. And truthfully, I can’t believe that I feel the way I do about it, but we won a Championship and are packing for Miami.

Unfortunately we do know how mediocrity felt, and you’re headed that way boys. We’ll be the most important thing to you for many seasons to come. Go ahead, tell me the score again and then tell me how unimportant we are. I’ll read about it on the airplane to Miami.

As a UGA fan, I’m completely okay with what Butler is doing. He’s not simply flip-flopping like a lot of players – the circumstances have changed – at both UGA and Louisville – he has re-evaluated, and he’s reaching out to the school he wants to play for. He suggests that he wants to play for Louisville, and he’s lambasted. If Louisville had offered, UGA fans would be having a fit that Charlie Strong was trying to recruit a player who had already committed. In other words, there’s nothing that Strong or Butler could have done that UGA fans wouldn’t think was outrageous except stay with a school he doesn’t necessarily want to be at. To the fans, he’s just another defensive end. To Butler, this is his future.

Quit being jerks about a kid simply wanting to play for someone else, especially when he doesn’t even know who his DC will be here. This happens every time on here, fans crying about commitment and “cancers” every time someone doesn’t want to play for UGA, and it makes all of us UGA fans look bad. And be glad there’s not a message board that insults you whenever you break up with your girlfriend or change jobs.

A little concerned

I’m a little concerned with all this love the Florida fans are professing between the coaches and the players at Florida. The “relationship” between the coaches and the players is why Urban changed his mind. Really?? The coaches love their players, the players love their coaches. I even seen the phrase “father figure” thrown in there. It sounds like a lot of bromance going on to me. Well like every “relationship”, couples need a break, (indefinite leave of absence). Sounds a little funny to me. Just saying.

$1.4 million Shreveport vs. our $14 million BCS Orange bowl

December 29th, 2009

I’m so happy we finally made a BCS bowl game. Its about time we won that pathetic league called the Almost Competitve Conference. At least the ACC has 1 bowl win so far. Lucky for us we fave a weak Big 10 runner up that some how, some way, got into the Orange Bowl. (The least watced BCS Bowl this year by far).

I love my shool and campus. It feels like home. The streets of our campus are littered with drunks, armed robbers, and convicted felons who prey on innoncent teenage kids. I can’t think of a better school or place to send my 18 year old for 4 years of education of how to survive in the ghetto in one of the least safe cities and campuses in the country.

I would take a visit to maybe one or two other schools but i’d be stupid to pick another team over UF. I’m a Longhorn grad but Florida is Florida. They are in probably the most gorgeous and fun state, they invented the freakin bikini! They have more money then almost any program in the nation and are nationally televised nearly every game. They put tons of guys in the pros, won three SEC titles in five years and got to four. They won two National Titles in five years, including one heisman. Florida has been the lead dog in the SEC the last 20 years and that will not change anytime soon. Florida has the makings of a beast in the long term, if not right now. They lost one freakin game and people are trying to put them down. “Tebows gone” hahahahaha, first of all Chris Leak, not Tebow led them to a title a few years ago. Second, if they can hold on to their class and get Ronald Powell, they will win the recruiting title. Meyer’s obviously having some trouble but he thought it over and i wish the Gators well. My Horns don’t have to play ‘em but it sounds like you bunch of losers do :) . Enjoy hatin on the Gators you scared bunch of trolls. As for FSU fans coming out of the woodwork, Joyner and Luc were big time Nole leans for a long time. Its about time you guys get some decent recruits that werent jockin Gator nutts. I wish your program well but you guys are acting like you won a national title or something. Win a freakin weak *ss ACC conference title first and get relevant then i’ll talk to ya. Secondly, after the disaster that was Bobby Gate FSU fans can no longer wine about any other head coach. No mas, you’ve been banned. That’s like a child rapist talking about which outfit looks best on one. Florida’s basement is your ceiling, see the Directors Cup. :) I won’t talk about Georgia but atleast Sports Illustrated thought highly enough about ya to say you’d win it all…Tech had a good running game for a while but couldn’t do much of anything else. Miami lost only 3 games but they’re about to hit their wall. The thing with Miami is this is the BCS era and private schools can’t cut the mustard anymore, plus Florida took you swagger lol.

Dunkley was 60/40 Gators over Bama but now the might be 50/50. Elam will look around but unlikely to land in Vol land as Florida is to strong with his position. No doubt though Meyer hurt the class that was to be #1 in the end. Not saying they still won’t get #1 just saying he’s reopened the recruiting process for a few recruits or potential ones that were waiting to announce. I still say Florida gets Elam, not so sure about Dunkley. I still think Florida gets Ronald Powell from Cali so they should still get a top 5 class. Not bad with all the damage Meyer’s caused…happy the news has kept Florida from moving in on Mack Browns (Texas) committ
