Wait, I forgot to include that Scout.com has him as the 30th best Safety in the state...this doesn't make him any more valuable, in my opinion. Have fun riding the pine at UA.

Im sorry but why would they offer him anything? They have two 5 star QBs on the sidelines, I only hope they sat out this year because they wanted to redshirt one later, I know Murray was injured I dont know about Mettenger.

All I know is that if Cox was the best solution this year at QB then we are screwed no matter what, I hope there is a method to richts madness.

And to every one saying that you are true DAWG fans and I support the team no matter what........Will you please STFU, you are complete retards, the players on the field look lost most of the time and the coaches arent calling adjustments, any jr high player can see that, Im shocked they get any recruits going to their school at all.

Hopefully we can have another blow out loss to a rival to seal willie's fate, its obvious hes a terrible coach and is not even qualified to be the water boy.

I know Georgia was his dream but he has committed to UA. The truth is that the percentages lean toward him never even blowing up or making UGA or anyone else that is recruiting him regret anything. He has a chance to make something for himself, who cares where he goes. Most guys are freak atheletes who can play every position, Sims is no different. He is not elite in any aspect of his game so maybe in 3 or 4 years he can make a play but til then the percentages say he will not be heard from. ESPECIALLY WITH HIS GRADES

an we afford to let Hutson Go! Another kid who we hear wants to play for UGA...going to Iowa this weekend...should in in Athens! CMR keep him in state!

Hutson Mason Lassister QB

"Mason’s yardage total was the second-highest in state history, trailing only his 545-yard performance earlier this season that broke the state record. Mason, who entered the game with a state-record 3,714 passing yards this season, became the first quarterback in Georgia history to surpass 4,000 yards in a season."

Another sign of the decay of the Georgia program. Things like this are why UGA hasn't won the SEC since '05. Richt and his staff seem to have become complacent, and now they are being overtaken by all the schools around them. Some changes better be coming if Richt wants to remain HC!

We're good at the QB position for 3 or 4 years. 2 Top 10 talented guys already. Richt's ALWAYS loaded with talent. Richt is great at getting his guys into the NFL and a fun guy to play for. I hope Sims enjoys getting yelled at for 4 years at Alabama by Saban and NOT playing in the NFL. Saban's style is to motivate by FEAR. Whatever. Old School. Lame. If Blake doesn't want to be a Dawg, hit the road jack. It probably means he thinks he can't compete with our top 2 young guns. Good sign for Ga at QB. Let's weed out the wimps who are afraid of QB competition early. Send all of those types to Alabama.

He will go to Alabama and never play 1 down in his whole collegiate career, so congrats Blake Sims on not making it into the NFL. It is obvious the reason why alabam has recruited him just to try and sway him away from Georgia, but thats alright we will be alright and just fine without him so eff the elephants and Go DAWGS.

seriously, bulldog fans?

there is no need to make up half-baked "reasons" the kid didnt choose UGA, or why UGA didn't recruit him. it makes you look stupid and petty. there's only one reason: UGA dropped the ball. it happens to every program every now and then.

the academics arguments are invalid. if athletes dont qualify, they go to JUCO; if they get their grades up to par, they transfer in. am i missing something here? because i had no idea that georgia automatically ignores football talent of sims' caliber if they have to go this route.

to infer that alabama's academics in general are sub-par means you don't really know much about the university.

the "we are stacked at QB" argument is also invalid. alabama is also stacked at QB, with aj mcarron, star jackson, and philip sims, i'd say they were a little more stacked than georgia. same goes for any more "we are stacked at X-position" arguments.

odds are, unless this kid beats out the QBs ahead of him, he won't be playing QB at alabama. from his comments, he seems to understand this. and he's fine with it. saban puts players where they will be effective and fulfill their athletic potential. players coming in know this. they come to alabama because they know they have a chance to win a national championship.

can the same be said about a kid who chooses georgia?

also, the overall winning percentage comparison between richt and saban is bogus plus doesn't apply to the topic. regardless, let me say that the only way to say who is better, percentage-wise, is to wait 67 more games until richt has as many games as a head coach as saban currently does. also, let me throw in this stat just to piss off the mathematically-challenged commenter who initially brought it up: saban national championship game winning percentage: 1-0, 100%. richt: 0-0, 0%.

"Go figure, as usaual CMR takes a wait and see attitude with recruits and other teams line up and sign them...."

What in the **** are you talking about? We already had the majority of our 2010 signing class lined up before any of them played a down of their senior year. We don't take a wait and see attitude on the best players, just the ones that still need to prove more in high school level.

Sims to his credit has proven himself this year so now he's worthy of a scholarship. He wasn't before as we still don't know where the **** he could play at GA. It wouldn't be QB though as 2 better freshmen kids are already on campus. Best of luck at Bama, where he could fit in better at QB.

I'm losing all respect for this blog writer. The Gainsville team is far from the only recruiting story in town. In fact, it is probable that all of their kids are being overrated due to the massive number of prospects on their team. It's much easier for a QB to put up good numbers when he has a D-1 wide receiver and half a dozen other D-1 recruits on his team.

CMR should not waste a scholar for Sims. We need linebackerS and safety, since Reshad and Curran are planning to jump to the NFL.

With Murray, Gray and Mettenberger - 1 Junior and a Fr., we don't really need Blake Sims - not enough scholly's to go around right now. And Bulldawg nation, don't forget...

We lost Moreno, Stafford and Asher Allen early. If we have them, we beat OSU and LSU for sure, and maybe UF as well (UT slaughtered us however..).

We played SC with them having a couple of extra days rest.

We Played Ark. after they had SE Miss. ST and an open date at their place - and beat them.

We played ASU after they had an open date, then La. Laffeyette and some other weak sister
They are fresh, we are wore slap out by now - then we play LSU No. 4 in the country, and beat them, only to have it taken away by a ref.
Then off to the slaughter in Knoxville - our guys are whipped by this point in the season. No North Texas St, no Troy, no Charleston Southern, or any other weak sisters of the poor like some teams, who had already played 2 of those type teams.

Guys, what i'm saying is, while there is no excuse for the penalties etc. We really have played pretty well for what we had to work with - and I think the future is bright for UGA football.

Good call. We have two QB's lined up ahead of him, both redshirted as well as a punt returner/QB in Gray. Even though Murray is touted as a running QB, don't be shocked if the "pro-style" Mettenberger ends up ahead of him on the depth chart. Unless we converted Sims to a DB, I think UGA and CMR made a wise decision.

Dean sounds like your standard Georgia "bulldog nation" (no caps) red neck. It's like they wear horse racing blinders in Athens. I hear UGA is a little under the weather these days. Sorry, thats UNDER Sanford stadium.

do you mean that if Ga Tech or Albany St. would have been the first to offer this kid then he would have signed with them? if this kid is as good as some seems to think, then i promise you, Alabama was'nt the first one to offer. like South Fl says if he was as much as a dawg fan as he claims to be then his behind would be in Athens, unless the dawgs don't have a spot for him, that i could understand. my friend if you're as big a dawg fan as you claim to be then you'd be freaking idiot if you don't accept if offered. kid any person in his right mind would tell you to follow your dreams, well maybe someone other than Saban, you only get one chance to live that dream, don't be a fool and blow it if it presents its self to you, best wishes to where ever you go, but don't give me that crap about Alabama offering first. that dawg want hunt.

Just wow. There are certain Bulldogs fans that are criticizing an 18 year old because he chose Bama over GA? Get over yourself. This young man has said and done nothing to warrant the wrath that some are showing him.

To those who forget, CNS doesn't target "stupid jocks" everybody recruit that comes to Bama are not only good players, but also good students. And if said young man doesn't hack it in the classroom then he has no spot on the team. Plain and simple the young man made his choice (imo, he will eventually be a WR at Bama, but initially he will be giving a chance to win a spot at QB) and for those who are ragging on him about it, needs to get over yourself and stop making excuses as to why GA didn't land him. Besides Sims isn't the first GA product that CMR got in on late, remember Michael Bowman. Concede the fact that CMR dropped the ball on Sims, and move on.

"my dream was to play for GA, but sometimes deams don't come true"...this kid seems like a real dumbass! if it's your dream then you don't jump all over the first offer. whatever, he got his pride hurt and now looks like an idiot. Bama's a great program, but if you bleed red and black then you would of walked on even if you didn't get an offer. i wish him the best of luck, but his reasoning doesn't make since. RIP UGA VII...you will be missed! UK's going down for you buddy!

I am a fan of both schools. I have an alternate theory. Maybe the Kid just did not fit into Richt's system. Saban obviously has him pegged at another position. Georgia just waited too long, but I would not rule him out just yet. Signing Day is a few months away and there will be pressure for him to stay in state. I wonder how all the UGA fans would respond if he changed his pledge to the Dawgs. Will you all be calling him an average player then!!
