there is no need to make up half-baked “reasons” the kid didnt choose UGA, or why UGA didn’t recruit him. it makes you look stupid and petty. there’s only one reason: UGA dropped the ball. it happens to every program every now and then.

the academics arguments are invalid. if athletes dont qualify, they go to JUCO; if they get their grades up to par, they transfer in. am i missing something here? because i had no idea that georgia automatically ignores football talent of sims’ caliber if they have to go this route.

to infer that alabama’s academics in general are sub-par means you don’t really know much about the university.

the “we are stacked at QB” argument is also invalid. alabama is also stacked at QB, with aj mcarron, star jackson, and philip sims, i’d say they were a little more stacked than georgia. same goes for any more “we are stacked at X-position” arguments.

odds are, unless this kid beats out the QBs ahead of him, he won’t be playing QB at alabama. from his comments, he seems to understand this. and he’s fine with it. saban puts players where they will be effective and fulfill their athletic potential. players coming in know this. they come to alabama because they know they have a chance to win a national championship.

can the same be said about a kid who chooses georgia?

also, the overall winning percentage comparison between richt and saban is bogus plus doesn’t apply to the topic. regardless, let me say that the only way to say who is better, percentage-wise, is to wait 67 more games until richt has as many games as a head coach as saban currently does. also, let me throw in this stat just to piss off the mathematically-challenged commenter who initially brought it up: saban national championship game winning percentage: 1-0, 100%. richt: 0-0, 0%.

What in the **** are you talking about? We already had the majority of our 2010 signing class lined up before any of them played a down of their senior year. We don’t take a wait and see attitude on the best players, just the ones that still need to prove more in high school level.

Sims to his credit has proven himself this year so now he’s worthy of a scholarship. He wasn’t before as we still don’t know where the **** he could play at GA. It wouldn’t be QB though as 2 better freshmen kids are already on campus. Best of luck at Bama, where he could fit in better at QB.

I’m losing all respect for this blog writer. The Gainsville team is far from the only recruiting story in town. In fact, it is probable that all of their kids are being overrated due to the massive number of prospects on their team. It’s much easier for a QB to put up good numbers when he has a D-1 wide receiver and half a dozen other D-1 recruits on his team.

We lost Moreno, Stafford and Asher Allen early. If we have them, we beat OSU and LSU for sure, and maybe UF as well (UT slaughtered us however..).

We played SC with them having a couple of extra days rest.

We Played Ark. after they had SE Miss. ST and an open date at their place – and beat them.

We played ASU after they had an open date, then La. Laffeyette and some other weak sister
They are fresh, we are wore slap out by now – then we play LSU No. 4 in the country, and beat them, only to have it taken away by a ref.
Then off to the slaughter in Knoxville – our guys are whipped by this point in the season. No North Texas St, no Troy, no Charleston Southern, or any other weak sisters of the poor like some teams, who had already played 2 of those type teams.

Guys, what i’m saying is, while there is no excuse for the penalties etc. We really have played pretty well for what we had to work with – and I think the future is bright for UGA football.

To those who forget, CNS doesn’t target “stupid jocks” everybody recruit that comes to Bama are not only good players, but also good students. And if said young man doesn’t hack it in the classroom then he has no spot on the team. Plain and simple the young man made his choice (imo, he will eventually be a WR at Bama, but initially he will be giving a chance to win a spot at QB) and for those who are ragging on him about it, needs to get over yourself and stop making excuses as to why GA didn’t land him. Besides Sims isn’t the first GA product that CMR got in on late, remember Michael Bowman. Concede the fact that CMR dropped the ball on Sims, and move on.
