To BobinBuford, been at the Gwinnett Arena when both Tech & UGA has played basketball games there, the UGA travel a lot more than the Tech people do, even for a shorter distance.

I know I’m certainly not crying on this blog, I’m simply stating my opinions, and I have enough faith in our staff and the VERY high level of talent they have brought in to shut up and watch this play out…I will be at every game I can possible attend, and I will be cheering as much as the next guy…I’m only saying the trends I’ve seen in the past, and saying I hope they don’t continue…and I never said I was god’s gift to basketball, I only said I know more about it than you do, and for your information I didn’t attend walk on tryouts because I’ve had 2 major surgeries on my knee in the past 5 years and to be honest, it wasn’t worth the risk of having permanent damage to my leg…I know my future isn’t in bball, and I’d like to be able to walk properly for the rest of my business life…all that being said…go jakets, let’s be 14-0 heading into the duke game and play this out just like 03-04…only with a win in the big game this time around

Support the players or just shut up. No amount of crying on a blog will get you what you want. Let the season begin and see what we have. What are you going to say when PH wins this year. Get over all of your personal beefs with the coach. The staff is set and the roster is set. We win or lose with what we have. Give the players a chance. They are only kids and they do read most of the trash on here.

KG you prove my point. Price should have been hired why? What has he done as far as being an assistant coach and knowing how to be a recruiter? CPH hired someone to fill the vacant role. Get out of here with you nonsense. As for GT Senior if you were so good in basketball you would be on the team. I guess it hurts when you get cut during walk on tryouts.

W, shut up and don’t be so fast to judge “tech basketball fans” as a whole…i go there and am a big fan and i’ve played basketball all my life up through the high school and high AAU levels…I know more about basketball than you I am certain, and the reason many tech fans have been calling for hewitts dismissal is because of his coaching style, not the color of his skin…he rotates too many players in for too many minutes instead of letting his best 5 stay on the court for extended periods of time with the help of a few key subs…he also runs an offensive system that is about as complicated and effective as my teams ran when i was 9…and for a coach who has always prided himself as a defensive specialist, our teams have looked very poor on that end of the floor as well for several years…yes, i greatly admire the talent he’s been able to bring to atlanta, but i and many of my knowledgable friends can see that once they take the floor for hewitt, their potential isn’t quite reached (perfect example: look at gani lawal vs. j.j. hickson…they battled throughout high school and lawal was nearly always regarded as the better player with the brighter future and bigger upside, but look what happened when they went to college: lawal has plateau-ed and might not even be a first round pick if he’s overshadowed by favors this year…meanwhile, hickson went to n.c. state and was drafted after one year and has now already played meaningful minutes in an NBA FINALS…that’s a BIG difference considering where they were just a few years ago with gani leading norcross to the state championship over hickson and wheeler)…that said, we may be able to chalk some of this up to coincidence, and I by no means am discouraging any potential players from coming here, because any way you look at it, GT produces NBA players at a level that compares with just about anyone, but there’s more to our fans than racism and random ranting…some of us really know what we’re talking about and pride ourselves on being able to give educated opinions…mine just happens to be that hewitt needs to work harder at unleashing the potential of all these talented players he keeps bringing in…if he does, GT could be in for a big year and really surprise some people

Tech basketball fans are the worst kind of fan. They don’t know anything about basketball and think that the coach should be an old white man. The dumbest most racist group to ever cheer for a team outside of Athens. The season hasn’t started yet and they are calling for the only coach to take them to a final to be fired. Maybe Mark Price and Jon Babul can do a better job. I don’t think so.

I am an idiot because of my optimism? You think I havent noticed the amount of talent had in the past and how we fell short of expectations…I mean 2-14 in the ACC last year? I just think this group is so talented that it can overcome its coaching issues. We have not had a team with talent and experience since the 2004 bunch….look what happened then.

Hewitt is the ONLY coach to take us to a NCAA championship game. That was only 5 years ago. We’ve gone to the NCAA’s 4 times. He’s had a tough couple of years but he’s gonna come through this year.

Hewitt’s had a tough road but it’s because we’ve had so many early departures to the NBA. We went to the NCAA championship game with Hewitt and a bunch of NBA hopefuls. The NBA sure things leave too early to build a team. You want some of them but not too many.

Jason grew up in Augusta, GA, but is attending The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. Hotchkiss is one of the three most exclusive prep schools in the country — Exeter and Choate being the other two. You can expect him to be academically eligible, fundamentally sound and to stay until he gets his degree. He’s probably closer to the type of student that a school like Duke or Stanford would recruit.

For those of you wishing for the return of a pure shooter like Mark Price, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

And, yes, Lakeville and environs is the whitest place in America. I know it well.

UGA Basketball?? How are the ticket sales going for the game against Illinois at the Gwinnett Arena??

Let me tell you – you can get 2 tickets for that game 6 rows behind the bench on the main floor. Want 3 tickets? How about 4 rows from the floor? I guess that means if I want 4 tickets, I can sit next to Mark Fox on the bench. Considering the amount of Illinois natives here in Atlanta, there may be more orange and blue there than red and black that day!!!

Maybe the Arena should schedule Georgia Tech there instead – that would sell a lot more tickets.

Wiley: you have no clue about basketball. Hewitt gets more talent than anyone in the country and cannot do anything with it. All these guys care about is going to the ACC for a year or two and then to the NBC. He is a nice guy — just like CMR — but doesn’t know how to run a championship program.
