As the wife of a retired coach and a FAN of the game of football, some of the postings here really sadden me. Why can’t supposedly mature adults be happy for a kid with talent? And, of course, 99% (maybe 100%) of all young athletes put into this situation will be challenged to “keep their head on straight” … come on folks … great article Chip.

Why can this young man not give an interview to ANYONE without have the Nance’s in the article.. Are they going to follow him to UGA and hold his hand there too.. FYI we are sick of seeing the same 3 in the local paper all the time. There are MANY more athletes on the field friday night that deserve the attention for THEIR hardwork than what is being given. THEY are the ones winning these games… Last years team was better….stay tuned…

Da’rick also had 30 yards (two 15 yard unsportsmanlike) against chattooga in one round of his shenanigans. If he can stick to being athletic and focus on doing well, he will be a great asset. I don’t like him right now because he is so cocky and full of himself. I hope he does well in the playoffs and gets his head on straight at UGA.

Just to let everyone know what he did in the Dalton game, he took his hat off after a killer kickoff return and said something on the other flag. He’s not a dirty player, just a “talker”.

Maybe you should read between the lines on what the coach said. “If he keeps his head on straight”. That says volumes right there. The proof will come when he gets to UGA. Can he take coaching or not? If he makes it through camp without being coddled maybe he will be ok.

I’m a die hard UGA fan who graduated from Dalton but I now reside in calhoun. I have seen Da’rick play several times. In the Dalton game this year he was penalized twice for unsportsmanlike conduct. There does seem to be a questionable attitude and massive ego that goes along with this kid. And yes there have been many red flags that have followed him throughout his high school career. Hopefully, he can get past these issues and qualify academically so he can fufill his potential at UGA. But some of you UGA fans need to realize there have been issues with this kid so beware going forward.

Chip – Nice article. Glad you made it up to Calhoun and hope you will be back to see other really good underclassmen at Calhoun next year. JT Palmer wr (jr), Dustin Christian rb (jr), and Adam Griffith k (So) are all really great players.
Da’Rick has speed that few anywhere have and is physically ready to play anywhere. He will continue to improve at UGA with Green, Brown, Wooten, Durham,and Charles helping and pushing him. Da’Rick will qualify. He can turn it on in many ways when he wants.

Why the need to slam high school recruits no matter where they are headed?

Why all the vitriol against the Dogs? Though we have an identical record with UT, this has been a disappointing year for us. To me all this piling on indicates some people are not very secure, know this year is an aberration, and fear payback next year.

With two SEC championships in a five year period, knowledgeable rival fans know Mark Richt can get it done. Look for the needed staff changes post season, and watch Aaron Murray and his receiving corps start torching defenses.
