Saint Simmons is for once............100% correct about UGA in the Carpets of Dalton Bowl game. Let me add "vs.4-7 U of Chattanooga". I am a UGA grad in BOTH 1971 AND 73. St Simmons is correct. UGA is NOT A MAJOR program of any consequence and it has been coming on for about three years.

He is only 90% dumb ............St Simons, that is.
UGA, class of 71 and 73.

The voice of reason and intelligence has returned. I am beginning to wonder if the AJC is nothing more than a gossip magazine for juvenile delinquents. This article is a deplorable means of boosting ratings. Who is your target audience? It has to be 13 to 24 year old age bracket. The focus has to be on shall we say the less informed. This is teenage drama at best. In terms of recruiting, the rankings mean nothing. The rankings are compiled by “gurus” that have never coached, played above the middle school level, or held a vital position in football. These “gurus” are propaganda hounds that market a product to sale. Their numbers and rankings mean nothing. What qualifies them as experts? I have told the story of a young man that I know well that was supposedly interviewed by a recruiting service out of Texas. The “guru” reported that the young man was leaning to FSU. I spoke with this young man the next day and it was revealed that he never heard of the “guru” out of Texas and never visited FSU. It’s all a bunch of bull feces. Look back about ten years ago and you can read the account of the super defensive lineman out of Georgia. All the “gurus” claimed to have interviewed him. The truth was revealed when the creator of the player informed everyone that it was a hoax. You can have a 2 star kid get a call from a dominate school and the next day he is a 4 or 5 star. What were Tim Jennings, David Pollack, David Greene, Robert Edwards, and Kirby Smart ranked in high school? How can you quantify the difference between a 3 star and a 4 star? It is just ignorant scam artists producing propaganda for sale. I recall when the “gurus” were reporting that a certain wide receiver that signed with Auburn ran a sub 4.2 and a sub 10 100 meters. Hello, he wasn’t even the state champion sprinter. With that type of speed, he would be in the Olympics. That is the reason a lot of the “gurus” are out of business. In terms of comparing UF to UGA recruiting, that is truly pathetic. How high would you rank Tim Tebow? A 12 star. He is the best college QB in history. If coaching is the answer, why does coach Richt have one of the highest winning percentages in the nation? How has UGA dominated GT for a decade if it’s just coaching? Chan Gailey had a very successful career in the NFL. In terms of people talking trash, you sound like a bunch of geriatric clients at a nursing home fighting over a walker. Get a clue and life. We all know that the bandwagon effect is in full affect for the Gators. Check out merchandise sales over the last 10 years. Why a spike? I am good friends with a true longtime Gator fan. He is disgusted by the actions of the Spikes thug and all the bandwagon fans. His words not mine. Tim Tebow carries that team. He is a great player and leader. He is nothing but class which cannot be said for Spikes. The Spikes kid is nothing but a thug. I am wondering who paid for the tattoos? A full sleeve typically costs in excess of a grand. A college kid has that kind of money? Yeah right. He is a loose cannon very similar to Odel Thurman. Great athletes with no brains. The Spikes kid embarrassed his team with his thuggish behavior. It says a lot when one of the team leaders that plays middle linebacker does not call plays. I know they will say that frees him up to freelance. The truth is that he lacks the mental aptitude. He has not seen the true punishment yet. What do you think that did to his draft status? Let me see. A middle linebacker that doesn’t call the plays. A thuggish player that has a lack of self control. A total lack of self discipline. A highlight player but not a team player. What happened to the kid from USC last year? Yelp, he slipped to the 2nd round. Watch what happens on draft day. He will slide because of his thuggish ways. Knowshon will be making millions when that dude is on the streets. Who’s more successful? One big hit compared to millions.

I heard a comment during the UGA-UF game that disturbed me. Something about when Richt was at Florida ST, they were the most penalized team in the NCAA ten years straight. Now UGA is in the same boat ( or at least getting there )

I know Will Muschamp is the head-coach-inwaiting at Texas, but I think UGA should offer this guy. Texas is paying him a lot to stay ( about 1 million per ) but we need a HEAD COACH. Maybe bring in Kirby Smart also. WE NEED A COACH OR COACHES WHO TEACH DISCIPLINE. WE HAVE TO BE THE MIOST UN-DESIPLINED TEAM IN FOOTBALL. i

I think Mark Richt should donate this entire years salary to charity. He certainly has not earned it. Willie should donate his entire GA career salary to charity.

Hey Willie ... Man up and just quit

CMR is too nice of a coach, and the ole saying goes nice guys finish last. his whole staff gets out coached week in and week out, we dont capitalize with all the great players that come in and out and goto the NFL.UGA will never compete for a national title with CMR, sorry to say that but its true. He either needs to wake up and find quality coordinators ex. TEXAS, ALABAMA (muschamp, kirby smart)hint hint. difinition of insanity = doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Sorry guys but it doesnt take 5-6 years to build a championship program ex. Alabama and Saban, Myer and FL, LSU

Don't know who's the big joke the Fla fan or Tenn fan. You can have your THUG Brandon, because Myers can live with out him. Myers showed today that he will let his players do anything even if it means blinding someone for life. And the whole nation got to see the Thug doing it and people are not liking what they seen, only Gator fans like what they watch. There's no film showing any Georgia player trying to put someone eyes out.
I love Georgia but I have to say GO BAMA

@gator dawgpounder - did you actually say Paul Johnson is building a dynasty in recruiting? Are you serious? Nesbitt and Dwyer were top ten prospects in the state of Georgia with multiple scholarship offers each. Roddy Jones was also a very good pick up. Chan Gailey got them to come to Tech as part of a top 15 recruiting class, not Johnson. There is nothing near their caliber behind them. Johnson continues to strike out on top prospects because none of them want to run the triple option. His best potential offensive recruit decided to visit Auburn instead and is over there.

Defensively, Tech is recruiting pretty well, but Womack is obviously not the D Coordinator that Tenuta is. Tech has the same problem as UGA here...terrible defensive coaching.

Ron you are correct, I am 55 and even going back that long, UF has a winning record in the series. I get tired of all these ignorant fools telling me, we have played more than the last 20 years but then again, they would rather live in the glory years with uncle (got paid every week) hershel.

Ron..... Scout had UGA #^ and Fla #7.
As long as we keep everyone on board and maybe pick up a few more we have another top 10.
UF will have no problem getting kids to go there once you win the third NC in 4 years though.

RambleOn!!!,
when was the first beatdown? Oh, I guess when it takes you 8 years to win against a team when you beat them by 3 it's a beatdown.

The recruits are fine for UGA, but what about some coaches on staff? You need a good Coach for direction or the team (Florida or Georgia) just has high recruits. Best of luck to the pups.

Good knows we have experience that on the flats.

Look out GA. That's the Mighty Tennessee Vols in your review mirror. Another decade of domination on the way. Heck, it's already at 4 out of the last 5.

Just step aside and let TN and FLA battle it out - like it should be!

"John Brantley November 2nd, 2009 5:04 pm
fan 4:34 – It’s always next year with you people, I think the Dawg fans were saying the same thing when Chris Leak was a Senior if I remember correctly. The Gators are worrying about this year and winning a title and then it will be next year. Florida has no QB questions next year, UGA does. Next year, Next year, Next year, THIS YEAR – 41-17."

You don't remember correctly. You mistake blog posts that have 0 accountability for the true UGA fans. You don't know who is posting. It could be a 40 year old former player or a 10 year old or a fan of a different team.

UGA Fans were well aware in 2006 that Tebow was a highly rated quarterback prospect who played very well in his freshman year and contributed to a national title. Nobody was assuming we'd have an easier time with him at QB. In fact, many people around the country thought he was already better than Leak.

What else do you expect fans to talk about after a loss? We talk about our plans to do better next year. That's all that can be said and is the same whether at UGA or Auburn or Nebraska or the NFL or High School. That's the nature of sports, enjoy your win or start figuring out a way to win next time.

John Brantley has no significant experience. Therefore our QB for next year is at the same level of experience as yours. Don't count your chickens before they hatch there.

It comes down to Coaching. Seems that may be is more important than changing the color or the helmet. Coaching also involves trying to make your team better from game to game rather than season to season.

Good article. Just shows how much coaching on a program-wide level can do, or not do. Georgia fans need not go after Richt and your offensive coordinator because they aren't the problem. If you watch the game, its your strength and conditioning. Your players think tough but play soft. I think you guys played your hearts out, but you always do. Playing your heart out in October doesn't mean much if you didn't work your heart out during 2-a-days.

Also, as an aside. Why do Georgia fans (see above) always say things like "if Meyers had any class...". His name is Urban Meyer, as in Meyer without an 's' at the end. As in singular, not plural. Hearing/reading that mistake over and over irks me almost as much as hearing Auburn fans continually refer to the time they did this or that in the game against "Clempson"...

Fan:

Two things for you. First, punctuation: learn it, love it.

Second, one day Shane Matthews will be gone... One day Terry Dean will be gone... One day Danny Wuerffel will be gone... One day Doug Johnson will be gone... One day Jesse Palmer will be gone... One day Rex Grossman will be gone... One day Steve Spurrier will retire (or resign)... One day Chris Leak will be gone (remember when they said Tebow can't play QB in the SEC?)... One day Tim Tebow will be gone... One day Urban Meyer will be gone (Notre Dame/Ohio State/keep dreaming)... and the result will be the same then as it has been for the last 20 years, 10 (or so) starting quarterbacks and three head coaches. Sooner or later you will have to get used to it.

Florida has the #1 class as of today, players want to play there for coaches like Meyer. By the way Dawg fans if you are 76 or older you have the winning record over Florida in your lifetime, everybody else doesn't.

Very true wolfman. With the state our program is in today, there is no way we beat Tech this year. We are a undisciplined team of underachievers, and as everyone had already said.... IT all goes back to the coach. My gator friend gave me a t-sirt he got at the game. "Georgia calls it a rivalry, we call it DOMINATION". Hate to admit it, but it's the truth.

So the Juniors and Seniors on Florida's team were rated significantly better than our Juniors and Seniors. We were outclassed talent wise this year against Florida, altough that argument doesn't work in our loss to Tenn.

But our younger guys are slightly ahead after taking into account Florida's smaller than normal 2009 signing class. So next year we should be on nice even footing from a talent standpoint. I say we strap on some helmets next year and try again, rather than just giving up like so many on here seem willing to do.

My Florida friends have reached the point they feel the same way they do about the senile demented one---They want Richt to LINGER and Linger and Linger. And since he is a "fine Christian man", and since that appears to be the only POSITIVE thing ever said about the man, I'm beginning to agree with them.

I know MANY "fine Christian men", that would not disqualify nor qualify them from or for a CPA, Neurosurgeon, orthodontist, lawyer, politician OR football coach. Agreed??

Because the recruiting rankings mean garbage....Could have told you this one. They have some meaning but very little. Its about coaching. To read stock into projecting the skills of 16-18 year old kids is a complete joke. NEVER do I read into recruiting nor wast my time like a lot of people do and follow it.
