A third Buford football player is headed to the Southeastern Conference to play football.
Du’Von Millsap, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive lineman, committed to South Carolina late last week, Wolves coach Jess Simpson confirmed. Millsap chose the Gamecocks over Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Clemson and several others.
“Yeah, he’d been up there a couple times last spring and last summer and always liked them a lot,” Simpson said. “But he waited to make a decision. He’s been putting it off a while now and decided he just wanted to go ahead and get it over with.”
Millsap, who plays mainly offensive tackle and some defensive tackle for the Class AA Wolves, projects as a guard in college. Teammates Kolton Houston (Georgia), a offensive tackle, and Jessell Curry (Auburn), a linebacker who stars for Buford at running back, are also headed to SEC schools.
Houston and Millsap give Buford a mighty pair of bookend tackles, especially for a Class AA school.
“He’s just a big guy that bends well and moves well has a mean streak,” Simpson said. “He’s a good player for us and he’ll be a good player for them.”
Simpson did not immediately return phone messages Monday but the Gwinnett Daily Post was able to catch up with him.
“South Carolina was always one of my top schools,” Millsap told David Friedlander. “They were the first school to offer me. I just think it would be a better fit. It all pointed towards South Carolina.”

South Carolina “is on the rise?” That is an interesting statement since they are going into their second half swoon as they have the past few years. Can you say a 6 and 6 record this year? Remember this is south carolina you are talking about, not USC (the real one in California) or Carolina (the real one in Chapel Hill)but the one at the State Farmers Market in the Industrial area in Columbia, S.C. To leartn more about their program, you can GOOGLE; “This Is South Carolina Football”

Let me guess, not enough “stars” to play at UGA. He will probably come back to haunt us in the next couple of years.

Brad: Not to defend anybody but there are at least 250-300 Division I (excuse me, FBS) prospects in Georgia. No school can sign more than 25 players in a given year and the Bulldogs currently have seven commitments from Florida. Do the math. You can’t sign them all.

330 pounds in high school. That is sad. I’m sure he is a great kid but his health has to be addressed by someone. Congrats young man.

Iam sick of georgia and tech fans making lite of the fact that we are allowing to many good players out of state because we have our eyes in other states backyard. GEORGIA has some of the best talent in the country so lets take a page from some of the florida programs an stay in state.

Dear AJC.
With all due respect: please up the ante on your reporting and writing. Simpson could not be reached for comment? You obviously talked to Simpson because you quote him in the article. I think you could not reach Milsap for comment. As well, Milsap and Houston are not bookend tackles for Buford. Houston plays guard for Buford on the offensive side of the ball…
