“UGA runs a pro-style offense in which NFL scouts can judge pro potential (Moreno was the first RB taken in the draft last year!) vs. UF’s spread — not quite as goofy as a Georgia Tech or Texas Tech offense, but not very suitable to display a QB’s or RB’s talents to an NFL scout.”

If my team was 3-16 against its biggest rival, I would also focus on pro prospects. And then, being a loser, I would focus on sportsmanship, and then academics. (wait UGA has no academics!)

Yo Mama…it’s yet to be determined on Alex Smith. He has looked good as of late…and he’s in his 4th-5th year, right? Some guys haven’t been given the reigns until their 4th year…see Aaron Rodgers…so perhaps he has it now. It’s not like the 49ers were loaded with skill guys around him.

Jamarcus Russell, Heath Shuler, Tim Couch, Matt Leinart…all from so called pro sets haven’t played well either.

Tech93…Agreed. They will not run on us, so that’s their opportunity. Don’t know if they’ve faces corners like Haden & Jenkins though. Cox’s arm scares noone though…can he handel the rush and make throws w/ pressure? Stafford therew 3 pics last year, and he has a cannon. Now what you can’t do is, “we beat that team by this, so it should like that when we play them”…doesn’t fly in the SEC. It’s about matchups. We hope Addazio gets some balls to call a better ball game. Teams have figured out the ole Tebow draw in the red zone. Let’s switch it up. Teams have been in games with us ONLY becuase we are kicking field goals.

Alex Smith was the first pick in 2005, yet is battling the nondescript Shaun Hill for the starting job of a horrible team (SF). He is a poster child for why NFL teams should not draft QBs who run gimmicky offenses in college.

Alex Smith ran the spread option as well. I seem to remember several other QBs that ran the spread in college being abject busts in the NFl. Eric Crouch anyone? I keep up with NFL prospect evaluation and the consensus is that you cannot even judge an offensive lineman for NFL potential if they block in the spread. Gimmick offenses just make it difficult to judge talent because players would get killed running an option or spread in the NFL. The closest thing to a spread is the Patriots and their numbers are way down this year as well.

And don’t suggest that Stafford will make it in the NFL – we don’t know that right now. Maybe he will but time will tell.

I think it is funny that people are arguing if UGA or UF better prepares players for the NFL. Well, Matthew Stafford was the #1 overall pick. It’s tough to do better than that. Tebow playing in the spread may get him drafted in the 3rd round…maybe.

If Miss St and Arkansas can take Florida to the wire, there’s no reason UGA can’t win this week. My advice would be throw the ball early and often to AJ Green because Florida’s front 7 is going to shut down your running game. As long as you’re playing anyone ranked ahead of us, I hope you guys win. You’re also our last shot at a quality win between now and the end of the regular season so hopefully you guys don’t look like roadkill by Thanksgiving weekend.

Good article….The kids coming from Kissimmee Osceola that committed to UGA are pretty solid. They have played a brutal schedule so far (all e losses to big time teams), but have played well. Deas is their starting QB…Butler is an athletic end…plays both ways. Georgia has recruited well in Fla as of late. Not sure about Murray…see Marve…in airness Marve was probably a better athlete and Miami’s formed OC did not help him much. Orson Charles is a stud….all from Plant in Tampa…a football power in Fla.

Some info for ya…just moved back to Central FL from ATL. Miss collecting W’s in enemy territory from you Dawg fans. Good ole SEC ribbing is missed in ATL…the best SEC sity to live in in my opinion. See yall in Jax!

Florida is killing Georgia right now on the recruiting trail. Don’t get me wrong UGA has a top 5 class so far but Florida has out-classed them again. Just look at the ESPN top 150 – Gators already have #’s 7,11,16,21,25,30 in the top 50 alone. 20 of the top 50 are uncommited but over half of them have Florida on their last couple of schools list.

Like Spurrier, TeaBlow will ride the bench in the NFL for two or three years and then go in to coaching. He is not NFL starting QB material and will be drafted in the late 2nd to 3rd round. To compare him to Herschel Walker based on talent is a joke but I will say he compares with Walker on desire. Tebow has a great desire to win – he is an overachiever.
