Being 5′8 as a corner is not all that small in college football. former bulldog asher allen is listed at 5′9. alabama’s javier arenas is 5′9. antoine winfield of the vikings is 5′9. south carolina has two kids listed under 5′9. prince miller is listed at 5′8. although this kid may never become an NFL corner… he can work in college. as long as he can run and jump he’s fine. i think the more important point is that it says CWM will still be at uga. it doesnt say he will still be the DC.

and i agree with whoever when they said that it would be worth it to lose a 4 star DB if CWM is gone. i would rather have 1 less recruit and no CWM than have both.

Willie Martinez may think that he is going to stay, but I sure hope Richt is thinking otherwise. As far as the guy saying that UGA doesn’t have the talent, if that is true which I don’t think it is, whose fault is that? The coaches recruit the players they want. My personal feeling is that they’re doing a bad job of developing the talent. As far as the guy’s size, he’ll easily gain 15-20 pounds when he gets to Georgia and remember some of the best corners in CFB and the NFL are short, I’d rather have a taller guy but it isn’t that bad.

Greg Reid is playing safety because the Noles are STUPID. Time for the whole Bobby Bowden regime to go. Bobby, Mickey, Chuck, and hell even Jimbo could roll for all I care. Get some new blood in there and get back to Nole football.

And even in limited playing time Greg Reid is arguable one of the top 3 players on that Nole defense. Patrick Robinson is so overrated it isn’t even funny. He sucks.

THIS IS BAD…. if CWM stays it is bad. if CWM is demoted and remains on the staff, many coaches (i.e. Kirby Smart) will not take the DC job if offered. if they lied to this kid, it is bad.

There is just no way Mark Richt can maintain the same coaching staff in place for 2010. He isn’t a complete fool. A coach with a 86-25 record cannot be that short-sighted. There is just no way Damon Evans is going to let this season slide. He will pressure Richt to make the changes, and I know Richt cannot see the past four seasons as acceptable, especially Goergia’s record against their primary competition.

They basically lied to this kid, but what else are you going to do? You cannot announce to a recruit that changes will be made…you do that formally after the season.

Does it really matter who the defensive coordinator is for a CB? Maybe he is worried that the next guy doesn’t like 5′8″ corners on 6′3″ receivers.

Yeah, the size is a problem unless our opponents recruit 5′8″ receivers which ain’t gonna happen. Size in the Dbackfield has been a problem in recent years. How can a 5′8″ db compete with a 6′4″ receiver? We need some 6+footers back there who are intelligent, fast and hit like a truck.

It’s sort of like Spurrier once said Ga gets all these 5 star recruits but nobody knows what happens to them. “THEY DON’T GET COACHED UP” For this fan I’d rather lose one ego centered high school recruit this year and see a change a defensive coordinator so we can start consistently beating Florida and Tech and Tennessee again.

I generally defend the coaches and players (except after the UT loss). I sometimes wonder, though, why UGA seems to recruit small players. Maybe get some cornerbacks and safeties 6 ft plus. Maybe find a tailback weighing 220 or 225. There was one on sports center last night. All the announcers said he would be a good Big Ten back. When did the trend start to recruit small guys? I mean this guy may be the next Deon Sanders. I am not knocking him. And, Georgia has some new guys that I am really excited about. Overall, though, where’s the beef?

Some of us UGA fans certainly have some anger management issues, don’t we? Mediocrity is not the absolutely worst thing in the world. Let’s try to be just a bit more polite with our opinions even if they enable us to maintain our rather pedesrian football record. After all, football season lasts maybe 4.5 months per year. If our team suffers from the insufferable scourge of mediocrity, just think of all the post holiday sales that will mitigate the emotional pains of being ‘just average’. See….all is not lost. Let’s all try to be nice even if it requires an enormous effort in the area of histrionics and acting. Let’s devote our time to learnning how to be united in our criticisms of the teams that actually win championships. It’s a lot more fun than criticizing our own team…..which does try really hard each week. Poodle Toodles!!!

I don’t know. But at 5′8″ this kid had better be able to take nickles off the top of the backboard at Stegman if he is going to guard any of the elite receivers in the SEC. As for Willie; does possum in the headlights remind you of Willie on the sidelines, sometimes he just seems clueless. Mark you must be clueless to if you think keeping Willie around is going to give you job security. You have to be productive to be able to keep a job; so far that’s not happening. Anyway I hope Willie and the boys keep Fla.to under 50. Good Luck, I’m still a Bulldog fanatic just not a real happy one!

I am deeply saddened at the lack of support that I see on this site. Yes, UGA has not played well this year, it is heartbreaking, but not the end of civilization as we know it. I, for one, have always been and always will be a DAWG FAN! Win or lose–isn’t that the point of being a fan? ALL of you sound like the worst kind of fans, they are called ‘fair weather fans”..as long as the guys are winning and coaches are making the calls you agree with, you love them. Let them lose or have to restructure and you want everyone fired. PLEASE, we are supposed to be the grown ups, right? What do you think it does to the team spirit when the players read these comments? Why bother to play hard when you can’t please people? You all should be ashamed. DIscuss the politics of the game all you want to, debate offense/defense, but to say you will walk away from the finest college football team around, well, that’s just wrong. Oh, one more thing, I find it very amusing that in anyother discussion men always say “size doesn’t matter, its what you do with it”…except in this instance. Just because he currently plays one position, doesn’t “cement” him to it, Richt may have other plans for the guy.
