"Georgia Tech commitment Denzel McCoy of Northview declined an invitation from Tennessee to make an official visit and remains “solid” with the Yellow Jackets. "
Remember that recruit that wanted to make just one more trip to AU after committing to Tech? Bet he feels like #$%^ now. PJ is smarter than them all. He knows how to hookem' and keep them hooked. That way you don't have to sellem' and resellem'.

Red Dog 77, everything you said was true but you didn't finish the story. Tech finished #8 in the country that year! Are you suggesting that Tech again will finish at #8 or will it be UGA? Actually the story you told sounded like last years game except UGA was ranked #1.

Ok, Get the picture: 1966 or there abouts GT is rooling along with the unstopable Kim King@ qb Lenny Snow toting the rock . Goes into the UGA game 9- 0 , Only 10 games back then, ranked in the top 5, and a wounded but proud BullDog squad beats the crap out of the bees@ Grant field! Next game the sputtering bugs are in the Orange Bowl to face Steve Spurrier and UF and SPLAT!!! the bees end on a losing note. Boy, What a year! See there bees I can say ugly things about you too. This was cowritten by Jekyl Island

CMR will not go to FSU. Jimbo Fisher has a huge buyout...they will not replace Jimbo. I would hate to see CMR ever leave. If he ever does I would love them to get Brian Kelly. CMR better get a popular DC to keep the recruits. Kirby Smart!!

Bulldog Mom:

No big time school is going to call for Paul Johnson. The big time schools have all bought into the nonsense of the pro-style passing game. Everyone wants to use the 6'5" pro-style passer who is going to be the Heisman Trophy winner and #1 draft pick to sell tickets, get ratings and raise money, to do what their program what Peyton Manning did for Tennessee.

Take Nebraska in the 1990s. They won 3 national titles, destroyed everybody, and were clearly the best team of the decade, one of the best ever. Did anyone hire a Nebraska assistant and try to emulate their system? Nope. Folks would rather try to copy FSU, Miami and USC, knowing full well that they won't be able to get those 4 and 5 star QBs and WRs year after year, and fail. Michigan finally abandoned that nonsense and hired Rich Rodriguez, but only because everyone else, including Les Miles, said no.

You see the same thing in the NFL, really. It isn't that a team can't win with a running QB in the NFL, it's that they don't want to. (Although Tim Tebow might change that.) Everyone knows that unless you have a Manning, Brady or Roethlisberger you have no real shot. But NFL teams would rather keep falling up short than try something else that gives them a chance.

So Paul Johnson is going to be at Georgia Tech for a long time.

Well, before Paul Johnson is called elsewhere, it's likely to happen to Mark Richt first. He's a good man, but will go to FSU, to be belated heir apparent to Bowden, or else howling Dawgs will get him fired from UGA.

Wow jumping on bulldog mom for posing a question? She did not even mention Ga but you assume that she is pissing on the nest. Its an interesting question but easy answer, it was a stretch for a higher tier team such as GT to bring in the triple option in this day and age. So I wouldnt see another BCS conference team bringing it in until GT shows sustained success. At least another year or two. Johnson wouldn't leave the hotbed of Georgia anyways that would be insane.
GT fans are sooo sensitive, ease up you have a good team

Good to see Richt assuring the scholly is still good. Its crazy how one bad, rebuilding year and people call for his head. He's a great coach in need of a defensive overhaul. If you look around the league not too many teams do well after losing their starting QB, RB, left tackle and top flight reciever. Usually the defense could protect the offense in a rebuilding year but they continue to underachieve.

As for Akins he does fit the mold of a triple option qb- big, fast and has a decent arm. Though he might not be as good of a passer as Nesbitt and thats not saying much. It does seem that Union Grove is becoming a pipe line for GT.

I will ask "a bulldog mom" one question. Name one thing CPJ can't do at Tech that he could do at some other school. If memory serves me correctly, the muts haven't won a NC in TWENTY NINE years. Yeah that is Big Boy football right. Stay in the kitchen, you know nothing about football lady.

Gerald: I agree with GT Grad that Tech will probably sign more than 12 players. At this moment they have 13 scholarships to give but that could change if an underclassman turns pro or there is some other kind of attrition. . . . As for Kareem Martin, he hasn't answered my calls for a little while now so I'm not 100 percent sure of his status. But I know he said he was simply going to take his other visits and make a decision after the season. GT commitment Denzel McCoy talks to him twice a week; maybe I'll just call him and ask him what he thinks.

I would imagine GT will sign more than 12 this year IF the players are exceptional. They wanted to limit the class to 12 in a effort to establish a little balance over the 4 year recruiting period, but I am sure they would alter this plan for certain players they covet.

I wonder how many recruits UGA will lose since the program is obviously heading in a downward direction. I imagine they will miss out on defensive players for sure and might even lose some of the "committed" players they have lined up since Martinez and company are struggling and on the verge of being replaced. Also, I wonder why the various AJC writers have not posted any stories regarding this subject.......they made a consistent habit of this sort of negative spin in a effort to hurt GT recruiting efforts when Chan Gailey was under pressure from GT fans. Oh yeah, I forgot most of the AJC writers are UGA supporters........they refrain from any stories which might hurt UGA recruiting efforts! Does not really matter because GT is on the rise and UGA is fading fast.

I am proud to be a GT Fan & GT Graduate!

Go GT!!!!

They wanted to limit the class to 12 in a effort to establish a little balance over the 4 year recruiting period, but I am sure they would alter this plan for certain players they covet.

I wonder how many recruits UGA will lose since the program is obviously heading in a downward direction. I imagine they will miss out on defensive players for sure and might even lose some of the “committed” players they have lined up since Martinez and company are struggling and on the verge of being replaced. Also, I wonder why the various AJC writers have not posted any stories regarding this subject…….they made a consistent habit of this sort of negative spin in a effort to hurt GT recruiting efforts when Chan Gailey was under pressure from GT fans. Oh yeah, I forgot most of the AJC writers are UGA supporters……..they refrain from any stories which might hurt UGA recruiting efforts! Does not really matter because GT is on the rise and UGA is fading fast.

I am proud to be a GT Fan & GT Graduate!

Go GT!!!!

Gerald, if Adkins signs with Tech or anyone else signs with Tech for that matter, their 2010 recruiting season is complete. I believe they only planned to sign 12 players this year.

Does Georgia Tech's offering Jordan Akins (man, Tech is practically becoming the Henry County all star team!) mean that they are no longer in the running for Kareem Martin? It does look like Akins is a perfect prospect for the rover position in Tech's 4-2-5! Still want to see more OLs and DLs in this class though.

Mr. Benedict, on behalf of Tech fans everywhere I wish you the best of luck in recovery. Just remember when you to get back on the field that you should take the weekend after thanksgiving off.

Also, Mr. Akins, none of the schools you are looking at offer a similar experience to GT or Atlanta. Sure, LSU puts more fannys in the seats, but you'll have better stats at Tech as a QB (see Nesbitt), WR (see Bey Bey Thomas), or a DB (see All American Morgan Burnett). We'd love to have you.

Hey Joe, is that last name referencing something in which you have a specialization or particular affinity? Instead of worrying about GT and Georgia, you might want to turn your attention to Ala this weekend, assuming you aren't so busy 'blowing' you've forgotten the game. I suspect Nick Saban's Tide will put a hurtin' on the UT's whirley bird coach. It's a real shame so many Fla players had the flu when the Big Urnge played them. BTW-beating Georgia, not the big deal it once was dude, even GT has figured it out. We'll be looking for you in Athens next Oct, whirley bird and all.

As a Vol fan, nothing bring me more joy than reading Saint Simons rib dawg fans about last year's loss every day. And just think dawg fans, when you lose to them again this year (and you know you will), you'll have to read that every day for another 365 days. Keep it up SS!
