A family friend told me about this page just recently. Thank you for the wishes. I know that fans like you all, along with alot of prayers, have gotten me to this point in my recovery. I am currently about 5 months out and have been cleared by Dr. Andrews to participate in spring sports at my high school. I will be enrolling at UGA on June 1st for summer classes. Thanks again. Go Dogs!

tough break for this kid... but the defense is still giving up 35+ pts per game. The UGA defense is worse than Ok State's defense! The UGA defense is comparable to the WAC in my opinion.

A blown out knee does not end one's life, but it can be awfully hard on a young man when his dreams seem to be bashed. Here is hoping for sucsessful surgery and a good rehab, and another shot at football, if not at UGA, maybe somewhere else. Good luck!!!

As a UGA alumni now living in Amsterdam, I've changed somewhat. I now pull for all teams with Georgia in its name, unless it's UGA vs GT. Seeing the civility here concerning this tragedy is wonderful, for often best friends end up playing against each other in the yearly UGA/GT game. Sure we fight, but then we play. Families do that. Hang in there, Brent. With hard work and rehab, you have a chance to come back better than ever. Rest assured, if you do, you'll be barking about how wonderful you stay at UGA was.

Brent:

So sorry to hear about your tragic injury, but your athleticism, intelligence and perseverance, as you've already demonstrated on the football field, will help you to successfully rehab your knee and return to the football field with a vengeance. Bulldawg fans like myself will be praying for you and your successful recovery, and we look forward to you being a member of the Bulldawg Nation very soon. Once a Dawg....... always a Dawg!!

Having gone through 6 major surgeries, bone grafting the whole bit, I am optomistic that brents knee can be sucessfully repaired. Medical advances particularly in the othopedic field are moving along at warp speed. I am sure his family current coach and CMR are along with his friends are giving him alot of support about now. I am encouraged that so many UGA fans, Tech fans and many others that support other institutions are wishing him well. As for Austin Long , Ive heard he is comming along just fine. But again my hats off to you classy college football fans from other institutions that wish him well. I myself, try to include all injured college football players in my prayers sometime during the day. I was an eyelash away from playing at UGA back in the early 70s when my problem occured, however it was a diease not an injury. And congratulations to Tech after their win over Va Tech, but be careful you will meet a wounded dog in november, and you know what they say about wounded dogs, they Bite! GOD BLESS AND GO DOGS!!!!!!!

So sorry to read about this. As a dawg, I'm still proud to have you join us. This is a great example of the value of taking advantage of everything college has to offer, including a great education. Be patient in your rehab, and when the time comes, you'll have great success on the field. I know you're gonna make us proud in every walk of life.

BigJohnB...his injured knee will be half the size of the uninjured one. The ligaments that support his knee and connect it to the major muscle groups of his leg are gone...which eccentially means that he will be unable to squat, straighten his leg or walk at all...he will have to correct the problem and spend the first 8 months just strengthening the smaller muscle groups around the knee before he even thinks about focusing on the major muscle groups...alot of rubber band...excersize bike, and small things. He won't be able to bend his knee all the way for about 3 years, so his range of motion is going to be the point of focus along with the small muscle groups...I went through it...TWICE...and he can do it...He is young and will heal very Fast...

Big Brent...Take it slow...UGA is behind you all the way. You will have a scholarship and future waiting on you when you get here! Take your time and do EXACTLY what the Doctors and trainers instruct you to do...Don't try and come back too quick. I know from experience...If you rehab it right, you will be absolutely fine...If you try and do too much, too quick...It will make for a nagging injury...
Good luck and God Speed
Go Dawgs!!!

Hope the young man can make it back 100%. Prayers are with him.Hope for a full recovery. If he plays or not.
Question:
Not a medical expert here. What kind of knee injury requires an 18 month rehab? Can anyone explain? Just interested.

If there is any good news for him, it is that he is 17 or 18. You can heal much better at that age. Thank goodness he had already committed. Plus, most lineman redshirt anyway. Best of luck to him on a full recovery.

Hate to hear it for anyone but especially for this young man. His brother Heath played a year at Tennessee before transferring. He was a projected high NFL pick and tragically passed away just before the draft. Really hope Brent comes out of this with a complete recovery! Best wishes from Rocky Top!

elviskl is 14 years old. Please ignore him. I'm his neighbor, and if you knew, you'd feel sorry for him. Sad kid with all those men coming over to the trailer.
