With Richt’s apparent demise…why would any serious D-1 recruit consider Athens? He is at best what position among the other SEC coachies??? Would we put him above Brooks at Kentucky??? Doubt it. He has way more talent than Ky and yet Ky seems to get more effort week in and week out. He certainly is not as good as Johnson at Vandy. Shoot that man barely gets FBS talent and yet manages to win 4 to 7 games at the D-1 level and several of these in the SEC! MSU coach has certainly brought inspired football to Starkville…Petrino and Nutt have brought Arkansas and Ole Miss back even though they get much less talent. Shoot South Carolina gets a blip of our talent yet you can’t argue with the physical way that team plays. Is Richt the worst coach in the SEC? I am a Dawg fan through and through. I have had season tix for 14 years now…but I truly doubt that Richt is any better than any other coach in this conference. He certainly gets better talent which is why we can and should always win 9 to 10 games. A great coach would get us to win the SEC and into the NC. Just don’t see Richt as that coach. Shoot last year we had the top Running back and top QB in football and could not win the only truly good teams on our schedule…so why are we shocked at this years play with lesser talent?

Since when did the AJC become a Tennessee newspaper? Good gosh there are more stories about Kiffin on here than there are from the Knoxville paper. I realize he’s recruiting Atlanta kids, but until he actually lands some, why make such a big deal about it. The AJC is a paper in Georgia. We want to read stories about UGA and Georgia Tech. Who gives a crap what the fans of other teams in the area want? Let them go to their teams town papers for info.

As a Bay area transplant and ATL native (yes, Silicon Valley and Bay area has way more things to do than the south, I must admit), what has and what will Kiffin really do?

He never has won at any level as a head coach and was a disgrace at Oakland (of course looney toon Al Davis and the organization had a lot to do with it).

Key here is that L Kiffin hired great ASSISTANTS – his dad most of all, Orgeron, etc. That is what makes or breaks you as a school and getting to an elite level. As an FSU alum and fan of UGA growing up in ATL in the 70s and 80s, programs decline because of weak assistants and the disorganiztion of the enterprise – this is what is happening to FSU now and UGA the last few years.

Let’s all admit that the SEC is better when the TN, UGA, LSU, Bama, etc. of the world are relevant – makes the conference even better nationally and respected.

Good luck to the SEC the rest of the year because all I hear out here is that the PAC 10 is just as competitive…

And that is Florida and Alabama. There are two programs in a free fall decline. And that is LSU and Georgia. And there are two programs on the rise. And that is Arkansas and Tennessee. As I’ve said to my Vol friends, it’s really disappointing to see this guy come in and ignore the success and tradition of the UT football program. He seems to be saying ‘I’m from California and I’m gonna show you how we do it out there’. But the real disappointment will be to see those same Vol friends become as arrogant as Florida fans have been over the years. If they chose to be proud of Kiffin’s antics, then it’ll be a shame…it’ll also be short-lived. They couldn’t have been happier when ‘favorite son’ Johnny Majors came back – and we know what happened…and they couldn’t have been happier when they sent Johnny to rehab and put Phil Fulmer in the job – and we know what happened…and even before Johnny, they couldn’t have been happier with Bill Battle, until they weren’t and killed his dog and sent a moving van to his house – and then they got Johnny. So enjoy you’re new toy Vols, cause it ain’t gonna last. Trust me on that. People act as if programs, including Tennessee’s, haven’t been coming into Georgia and recruiting good players before young Mr. Kiffin decided to con his way into the UT job (by the way, his Daddy ain’t gonna be there all that long, then what’ll he do?). Every program in the SEC – and ACC for that matter – has quality Georgia kids on their roster – and so do we. And we’ve got some pretty good folks on our roster from surrounding states as well. That’s just the way it is. If kids can be influenced by billboards and helicopter rides, then they probably aren’t very serious about the process – but that’s their choice…if they want to wear those faded orange outfits then more power to ‘em …you know the old saying that they can always use them for huntin’ and picking up trash along-side the highway…so maybe it’s a practical decision after all.

As for his coming to town in a helicopter…you can never find a shoulder-launched, surface-to-air missile when you need one.

And I don’t know what’s worse, Gen Neyland’s language or whoever is supposed to be monitoring this stuff.
