Herschel Walker, Buck Belue, Garrison Hearst, Shawn Jones (national title Georgia Tech team) etc. were all south Georgia guys. As a matter of fact, some of the better George O'Leary Georgia Tech teams featured players from south Georgia like Joe Burns from Thomasville and several guys on defense from Albany. That talent didn't just dry up and blow away ... it is just getting overshadowed by the Atlanta suburban talent. Georgia and especially Georgia Tech need to remember that places like Americus, Tifton, Valdosta, Thomasville, Cairo, Bainbridge etc. are still producing good football players.
