Mike

Why is it during CMR's career when UGA play a cupcake at the start of a season, off field transgressions get a 1 game suspension and when UGA plays a real team at the beginning then coincidently there are no reported transgressions?

CMR has cultivated a great personna that the media and others have bought into - too bad its only a mirage

the reason Tech has so few scholarships for next yr, is exactly as they said we only have a handful of scholarship Sr.'s, most of our scholarship players are young guys that'll be here for several years (Fr. & Soph.)

I'm currently a GT Management student, & no one realizes that GT's College of Management (CoM) is pretty much a full school of business. You concentrate in one or two areas (that they call disciplines of Management) including: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, International Business, IT Management, Operations. AGT BS in Management w/ a concentration in Marketing is the same thing as getting a BBA w/ a Major in Marketing.

The GT CoM is pretty much a full school of business, & its also supposed to be really good. Personally, I think it's mislabeled, it needs to be called a College of Business, so that everyone knows what it is.

Can you tell me what a degree has to do with one's ability to communicate? Using your logic, I understand Joe Hamilton much better than Herschel or Moreno. Good grief....

Kareem and his family seemed to have enjoyed their visit to GA Tech this past weekend, and hopefully they left with a better understanding of what it would be to be a part of the Yellow Jacket family and the lifetime of advantages that will be with him well beyond his playing days.

After all, football can only be played for so long, and even if someone is lucky enough to make it to the pros, they better be smart enough to be able to manage their money so that when they retire, they'll have something waiting for them that they can fall back on. We've all seen too many athletes who have blown through their money and had nothing when they needed it the most. A great education will help prepare a young man for a life beyond his playing days.

Kareem now has a few more official visits before he begins to wind down his recruitment, as well as as few more unofficial visits I'm sure, so I would suspect we'll have a bit of a wait before we know when an official announcement will be made where this young man will be playing next season.

Regardless of where it will be, Kareem is the epitome of a "scholar athlete" and any program will do well to have this young man choose their program. He has worked hard on the field and in the classroom and it's obvious that his parents have been rock-solid beside him throughout his life. Best of luck to the young man. I wish Kareem would come to GA Tech; he would make a great Tech man.

While the management school is excellent, the IE school is even better and provides you with more options upon graduation including business.

Tech has only about 6 Seniors on Scholarship. CPJ is also holding back some scholarships to even out the number available each year so there's not a drop off from a senior laden team to a team full of So.'s and Jr.'s like we had and have had since he got here.

I am not sure if he needs any inspiration, but a degree from GT has clout and we are close family. The head of the entire Wal-Mart corp is a GT grad. Football is fun and pro would be great, but bet on life young man, come to Atlanta and insure your long term future. I wish you and your family the best.

Kareem: Thank you for considering GT in your recruiting process/college search process. GT is a very special place. I truly believe that the academic rigor will prepare any student for the game of life. Having attended 4 other colleges also, I can truly say there is no place like it. We would love to have you at Tech, but please do your due diligence looking at other schools and make the decision that is right for you and your family.

The class of 2010 will be the first one to get us to the full allotment of 85, as PJ has not used his full available allotment the last two years in order to balance the class distribution on the roster (there are only 6 scholarship seniors on the current squad, only 3 of which see any PT).

I know about the self-reports, but wasn't that like 3 or 4? How did we lose 10 or 11? uga and other sec & ACC schools have had plenty of self-reports, also; yet they all seem to have over 20 scholarships to offer.

I think Tech gives him the best chance for a combo of Academics and a chance to be drafted as a DE.

Because of a self-reported NCAA violation, our punishment was a reduction of scholarships. That punishment ends after the 2010 class I believe.

Butch Davis is getting his clock cleaned in-state this year by a combination of out-of-state teams and NC State, who got another major NC player in Fre'shad Hunter - the #4 DE nationally. Additionally, Tom O'Brien and staff have gotten Robert Crisp, the best OL player, among others. UNC fans like to say in-state recruiting is down, and that they are a national program that recruits the entire country. Sure, if you say so.

Thing is, Davis has been busy greyshirting players and dismissing others, and that is starting to become apparent to NC HS coaches. His star is dimming up here, and while he may yet pull in some more HS stars, in NC, he is starting to be compared to the all-swagger and few-wins Chuck Amato.

I am very familiar with the 85 scolarship rule, but will someone explain to me why Tech has only 12-13 this year while uga has over 20 EVERY year? 85/5=17; 85/4=21. I know uga red-shirts just as many as TECH does.

Business major, eh? If he wants to do traditional business, then UNC is the place. But if he wants to be an IT manager, then Georgia Tech is the place. But if it is for football reasons, it should be Georgia Tech, where he could perhaps start as a true freshman. Even at Miami, Butch Davis was rather mediocre until he got one of the most talented teams in college football history, more talented than the FSU teams of the 90s and USC currently. Davis isn't going to get that type of talent to UNC, so it looks like 8-5 or 9-4 is the ceiling for that program. By contrast, Paul Johnson was beating major conference schools at Navy, and went 9-4 at Georgia Tech in his first year.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit down on the flats. Take your time and make the best decision for yourself. That being said, we hope you decide to come to Georgia Tech and play defense for the Rambling Wreck! Good luck to you Kareem.

Just passing through folks. :) Sounds like a nice hard-working young man. Best of luck to him and Tech (except against by beloved Dawgs). :)

Stuyd hard and you will be a success. If you are serious about football and wish to get to the next level, VT is the program for you of the ones you have on your list.
