UT had no choice but to play the freshman, from what I hear Kiffy made alot of promises to get them there including some one on one time with that wife of his...

UCLA will not be as easy to roll over, Hardesty will see more action this weekend because of that reason. Having more than one option to handoff to also makes the burden easier on the other players allowing them to relax and just play. Georgia was not "afforded" this opportunity since King was out and Thomas was obviously not ready to take reps.

And no Dawgs Drool (such a clever name by the way, did it take a whole afternoon to come up with that or did you steal it from another member of the local MENSA chapter there in Knoxville) you aren't an embarassment to UT fans, more than likely its just your family whose embarassed.

laxdawg, I do not blame the kicker or even the return team. I blame the coach. We tried the scheme for most of last season and lost the field position battle. We play it again this year and get burned again. All just after the head coach said we are going to kick it in the end zone and put a juco on scholly to do it. As a fan I expect to improve in problem ares. Yes other area may drop off kids come in and out but this is a continued problem.

First of all, let me apologize for UT fans everywhere for the embarassment that “Dogs Drool” causes on this vent. Obviously, he is still trying to overcome for his lack of affection as a child.

utfaninga,

I don't need you to apologize for my posts, by the way, I was treated affectionately as a child. Worry about your own actions, not mine! These pup fans don't deserve the civility you afford them!

Let me clear some special teams questions up for you experts. Number 1: Branden Smith was told by Fabras and Richt to take the ball out of the endzone no matter what because he wanted to create a spark and let his freshman gain some confidence. Number 2: Blair Walsh on kickoffs could boot the ball out of the endzone everytime if he wanted to, but once again Fab won't let him. Coach Fabras is very set in his ways, and he has been running his kickoff coverage schemes for years. The idea is to kick the ball to the far side of the field around the 5 or 10 yard line, and then force the returner up the sideline. So before anybody is quick to make judgements on a players actions, remember that there is always someone behind these players telling them what to do.

There is no excuse for not playing Marlon Brown and Rantavious Wooten. Did the receivers on the field show so much ability that the freshmen couldn't play? If I remember correctly, the yardage aside from AJ was only 10 or so yards. No excuse except stupidity on the part of our coaches. If this continues this Saturday, we should expect some changes in Athens. We need a packed house Saturday night.

I do wonder if Marlon Brown noticed the significant playing time that the freshman at UT received this weekend. The one thing I have liked about CLK so far is that he has kept his word about all positions being open for competition. That gets the attention of upperclassmen who now need to work harder to keep their playing time AND it gets the attention of recruits when he tells them they will get a chance to play...because he has a track record.

I heard an interesting take on a UT message board...could CMR be evolving into the SEC's next Phil Fulmer? Everybody loves him, he gets a little comfortable, loyal to his assistants, and then slowly slips back into the pack. I'm not saying I agree...just food for thought.

Joe Cox - Short, Slow, Noodle Arm. Bo Bo - erratic play calling.

I wholly believe the 1st drive of the game and of the 2nd half were scripted, as they showed heavy Richt influences. After that, it was all Bo Bo - what an embarrasement.

Your playmakers can't make plays if they are not on the field and the offense (apparently) has to run what is called by the OC. Boat loads of talent, but truly inept coaching will continue to Dawg this team until a new OC is found.

Oh wait, I know he had flu like symptoms... Oh wait, my 5 yr old had flu like symptoms for 24 hours and then was back to being a normal person. Oh that's right we can use that as an excuse as to why he didn't play good. Funny thing is most good athletes often play there best when under the weather a bit. Wow just think if that trend holds that may have been his best.

By the way no report ever said he had the flu only flu like symptoms. Anyone ever heard of the common cold.

Not playing Brown and Wooten there is no excuse. Wait, no CMR had one yesterday. they have to practice hard this week. HMMMM Did Cox practice hard the week before? It sure as heck didn't look like it to us coach.

Van Gorder was the only sideline balls this team has ever had. Watch the big boys - say Alabama (who've had Saban far less time than we've had Richt) - those kids on the field for the Tide are tough as nails, all of them doing a job, knowing that Saban character on the sideline will have their throat if they don't.

GA does this 'we need someone to step up and make a play' crap.

Teach the kid to do a job AND DEMAND THAT HE DO IT! THIS IS NOT THE REC DEPARTMENT!

I have always been a True and Die hard DAWG fan, But I believe we are going to have a long and rough year. This has got to be the year were our coordinators on both sides of the ball show there coaching abilities. The way I rate or comment on them is this way.. Part of my judgement is the way our team plays on the field, but another way is.. If either Bobo or Martinez lost there job at UGA, would any other SEC team hire them?? I sadly have to say that I do not think anyone would. And on Caleb King playing Saturday. I dont believe he will be the Every game starter and big play maker we thought he would be. I played football for 12 years in Warner Robins and I have played with people that have played like he has. When he had his major injury the last year of high school, he has never been the same. The guys that I played with were always afraid of getting hurt again and never played the same. I think Caleb is doing the same. These are just my honest thoughts. If we end up 0-12, I still bleed Red and Black and say Go DAWGS!!

Wait a minute, Bryce Brown rushed for 104 yards and Richard Samuel rushed for 87 yards. That's a paltry 17 yard difference, yet Bryce Brown is praised for having a good game and Samuel is criticized for having a bad one, and against Western Kentucky?? Give me a break...if Brown had faced OSU, he wouldn't haven broken 100 yard either.

Jeez. Mark Richt is beginning to lose me. Does he really give a rat's behind about football? I know "guiding young men" is a big deal for him, but I'm ready to see one of his teams kick some big boy butt. It ain't happening in Athens. Look around at the highlights. Teams are playing with high energy and determination. Not these Dogs.

Looks like since Van Gorder left, UGA continues to get worse. Richt really is losing his edge -- I'm a UGA alumni (Class of 1985) but it seems like Paul Johnson is doing a much better coaching job of his players than UGA. The defense played well Saturday but not great -- how many sacks did we get? And it seemed like OSU's QB had time to throw the ball. I'm really disappointed in Bobo's playcalling -- he is not consistent at all.

Mike Bobo admitted that not playing Marlon Brown was a mistake.

How many mistakes are these coaches going to make, then admit to later before something is done about it?

Everyone was wondering where the heck Brown was at. Marlon Brown, the receiver with great hands that could possibly have a similar impact as A.J. Green did his freshman year. How is it that 99% of bulldog nation knows that he should have been playing but Bobo and Richt didn't play him.

Are they going to make the same mistake like they did with Knowshon. We completely wasted a year when he really could of helped the team as a freshman.

Another year and the same ole mistakes. I hope this isn't another mistake with Joe Cox as Richt made with Joe T. I mean seriously the first time I ever saw Joe T. throw a ball I could see that he had no business playing QB on any level. Is Richt making a similar mistake with Cox? All I know is I could of made some of the throws Cox couldn't, and I never played football but I have thrown one. What Cox was doing reminded a little too much of Joe T.

Richt NEEDS to use his talent, and stop giving playing time to players that have put their time in for 3 or 4 years. If you suck, sit on the bench. I you're the best at your position, then you should be playing. Why does that seem to be lost with this coaching staff???

Trinton is done at Uga. Will probably join a developmental team in Europe after 2009 season and build up for the NFL as a project.
If he can stay healthy he will do well. Huge upside, natural pro tackle.
Georgia has plenty of lineman and will be one of the best in the country next season. We only have one really good coach and he coaches the OL so its not a massive loss.

One more hard observation .......... we played BOTH Trinton S and Clint Boling as true frosh and both made SEC frosh all star ratings. So ............why not play our youth now and allow them to grow?
Same is true of Aaron Murry or Logan Gray or whoever the QB is. Why play a slow, indecisive Joe Cox?

Regarding Trinton S, the again downed O linemen for UGA. Let us hope that he recovers well and has a decent career, one year or so.. He will get a first class education though. He can study and become a MD or exec or coach or whatever. That will sustain him through out his life, not football.

As for the rest of the dawgs .............we are in big trouble in 2009.

What ever happened to lineman AJ Harmon? He was supposedly all world. Hell, put him in for TS or that o line kid from Lagrange.... Burdette. Let them play now. They would have to be better than the crap that we witnessed on Saturday.

UGA will be 4-8 or 5-7 this year. Gonna be very ugly gang. Changes are a coming.

UGA, class of 73

Glad someone brought up Smith's rookie mistakes on special teams. Take a knee. And wasn't that him that flipped the ball into the endzone on punt coverage?

Someone needs to explain to Branden Smith that when a ball is kicked 7 yards deep in the end zone that he might want to consider taking a knee. BTW, has anyone been in a Turkish prison?
